MattFancy
i got mine the day it came out and yes, it does play old ps2 games I knew the older ones have it. But some of the newer ones they've release lately do not. http://www.digitalspy.com/gaming/a89277/ps3-backwards-compatibility-to-return.html
CrypticVillain
I always suggest the PS3 to anyone who wants a blue-ray player. Because you can do almost everything else with it too. View pictures, home movies, play games, download old classic games and new puzzle games, and a whole lot of other stuff. I know the 360 could do that too, but until they add the Blue Ray they can't touch the PS3.
littleskins
Does the PS3 play the old PS2 games, like PS2 did with the original Play Station games? I brought my PS3 last year. It plays 80% of PS2 games. It definitly played all the PS2 games I still have.
PleaseBlitz
PS3. I use mine about 50/50 for movies and gaming.

Of course I still have the PS2 so if I really wanted to play one of the older games I could just hook it back up, but it's a convenience thing of course. I'm strongly leaning toward a PS3 if they drop to $300.

It can: Play games Play movies Act as a media center (you can play music/videos from your computer on your TV over the network) Browse the internet Play movies streamed over the internet (Netflix, Hulu, etc) Really a no-brainer. #98QBKiller
Really a no-brainer. It's not a no-brainer when you don't want to drop 4 C-notes.
