Darth Tater
Haven't seen this reported here yet:

Looks like Blake will become a street free agent this weekend. For those who want him, this is good news, right? What about other options like Chandler and Dilfer. Does this make their price go down?

[ February 28, 2002, 03:43 PM: Message edited by: OPM ]
bulldog
I don't get the impression from what the Redskins people have been saying that Jeff Blake is even on their radar screens.

The only names I have heard are Brunell, Bledsoe, Dilfer and the ex-Florida quarterbacks.

And there was some talk of Fiedler before he re-signed with Miami, that's about it.

The Post confirmed this morning from officials that the team has had no contacts or interest to date in Chris Chandler either. Kilmer17
The more the better. Economics and all. Looks like the Ravens may release Elvis as well. Not that I want him, but more FA QBs means a lower price tag.
@DCGoldPants
Lets be honest folks. The Media must have a billion sources since the front office and Redskins part is totally different than it was 3 months ago. So......if Blake is indeed on our Rader (I pray that he is) why should the Skins let on that he's on their short list or even at the top of their list?

Menedes and Vinny know how to float rumors and how to keep their mouths shut. So far we've signed ONE UF player and are trading very little get another for cheap. So far, so good.
bulldog
yeah, but it's when you start setting your sights on impact players and major contributors who start then the dollars and bonuses tend to go dizzying out of control

you're right the moves so far haven't been unreasonable or overpriced.

but neither the one for Doering or the one for Wuerffel is likely to increase the talent of our starting 22 come September.

And that is what this game is all about.

The Skins, or any team for that matter, don't always get the man they want. It happens every year, especially with Snyder : He has a shopping list, then finds out he can't get the toy he wants, so he has to settle for something less. @DCGoldPants
Bulldog, we do not know for a fact that all these FSU guys will actually be chased. the two we signed aren't starters but like Marty and Norv before him. You bring in the people you know right? If we all come to work on monday and we've signed Jeff Blake, Roaf and a bunch of our own FA's....all those writers would be wrong. RySkins
The more the merrier. Blake would seem to fit Spurrier's offense pretty well. I have to think that somebody with power has their sights set on someone with more upside than Shane Matthews or Danny Wuerfful. I hope so at least! Darth Tater
Have a friend that went to UF. Used to love 'pretending' to switch around FSU with UF.
ace33
I've heard from some of you guys that getting all these recievers is ridiculas!

How's that?

Would you rather us have 5 on our roster forever, knowing they will be starting in 2002,or have about 8 or 9 on our roster, sifting through the guys that are good enough to make the cut?

Maybe the ingrediant to spurriers offense is 4 or 5 great recievers who can score at any time!

That sure makes QB pretty good!Doesn't it?

Hmmmm, theres another team that (had )4 or 5 very good recievers and went to the superbowl 2 out a
3 years.Oh ya,the RAMS!

Is kurt Warner that good?Or does he just fit the system that well?

Is brady that good?Or does he fit Bilichecks offense to a dime?

Makes you wonder,doesn't it?

Would you be that surprised if Wuerfful came in and looked like a probowler in this system?

Of course you would! So would I!

Is it Impossible?NO
Is it unlikely?We think so
Does any of us have spurriers playbook at home?I hope not

Heres a good question?

Who would you rather have at QB this year in spurriers system?

A)Jeff George
B)Rob Johnson
C)Danny Wuerfful
Darth Tater
Now I'm hearing that Buffalo might be looking at Blake. Still, by cutting Johnson, have they thrown their hat into the ring as a team in search of a qb?
Ernie5
I guarantee you Blake is on the Redskins' radar. If we've been talking about it, you can be sure his name has come up once or twice with Mendes & the boys. Does that mean we're interested? No.
