Insurance question

Spaceman Spiff

Recommended Posts

Trying to get my camera equipment insured and trying to find a policy that will cover dropping, breaking, damages, etc. I shoot a lot of live music shows and while I'm really careful with my equipment, I'm worried about the others around me.

My renters insurance policy doesn't cover this...does anyone know what kind of policy I should be looking for (if one exists?)?

Thanks.

Says my friend the photographer:

If you have renters insurance you can get a special rider for it

(same with homeowners), which covers the camera at home and while you are out with it. HOWEVER, if they find out you make your living, or a good part of it from it, it might be best to get pro insurance. But the rider is cheap, I think mine is $8 a year or something like that for $20k in coverage.

EDIT: if you're adding on to renters/homeowners, you just ask about adding a "personal articles" policy

This is also apparently an insurance company that some photographers use: http://www.hillusher.com/
