33
The Raiders have a PC tomorrow and are expected to name their Head Coach. They have already hired an OC and DC, and interviewed an unknown quantity of candidates. How similar would you say the two franchises HC searches have been? One obvious big difference is that many of their previous assistants have already left for new jobs as they did not have any years left on their contracts. DWinzit
It's scary to think Big AL Davis is copying us. They reportedly brought in Fassel and Gilbride to learn about some of their offensive philosophies. My guess is Cable doesn't last more than a year. One obvious big difference is that many of their previous assistants have already left for new jobs as they did not have any years left on their contracts. It looks like the beginning of a trend. In the past couple of years, owners and GMs are striving to maintain more continuity for the players by keeping for themselves controls that traditionally were given to head coaches who made wholesale changes after being hired. Jets, Chargers, Ravens, Cowboys, Redskins, Broncos... that's right off the top.
Recent Vintage
Oldfan makes a good point, and the Steelers did practically the same thing with Tomlin.
Skins PR
They are also hiring a guy who was never more than a position coach prior to this past season. Probably because nobody else wants to go there and have their career ruined by the meddlesome owner.

HitStickTaylor21
That franchise is such a wreck. We can criticize all we want on this message board, but thank God everyday you wake up that you don't support Detroit, Oakland or Cleveland. chrisxcore
Must be a bad sign whenever an NFL team is considering Jim Fassel as a head coaching candidate. Looks like he got Fasseled again this year. I hear he's rumored to be the head coach of the UFL Las Vegas team though... so.... ya know... good for him.
pilsburypgh
Oldfan makes a good point, and the Steelers did practically the same thing with Tomlin. That was obvious dude, they had just won a super bowl 2years before he was hired. Plus Dick Lebeau is a monster at Defense you got to be crazy to get rid of him, im sure any new coach would love to have him at Defensive coordinator. Never4get#21
They are in the same boat as us. We'll see if this style of aquiring a HC works.
ttr77
Well, the Skins are pretty close to being the Raiders of the East. It only makes sense that there are similarities. At least the Raiders have the 'senility' excuse.
