IbleedBnG83
If the Redskins trade Rogers, which seems to be a controversial move, but could add great value in other places to the roster with a draft pick or two, I suggest they sign possible FA Leigh Bodden. According to MLive.com, "Bodden, who has an $8.6 million roster bonus also due in February, likely will be released" Millen has put the Lions in a big salary cap crisis in Detroit. As such, they have to trim the roster. Bodden played great for the Browns, but mediocre for the Lions. Bad teams breed bad play. See Deangelo Hall before and after the Raiders. I suggest the Redskins make a play for Bodden as he is a solid corner and won't cost as much as possibly retaining Rogers, and even if so, we can get draft picks for Rogers and still have a quality corner opposite Hall. http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2009/01/lions_roster_set_for_major_ove.html

Pounds
Wow. How bad do you have to suck if the Lions get rid of you?

Don't be so hasty with the sound bite. The question is whether Bodden is a good player that can be successful in the Skins system. Deangelo Hall was cut by the Raiders(!) and has done well with the Skins so far. What I find amusing is that Hall is really more of a cover corner. The Skins traded their former cover corner (Champ Bailey) and used the 8th pick in the first round to obtain a corner that could play more physically. Now, we have rumors that the Skins want to trade that player (Rogers) because they want to sign the expensive cover corner. I'm more concerned that coach Grey is looking to move up to a defensive coordinator position. If he does then the Skins need a new secondary coach. How is that coach going to deal with the roster of CBs and Safeties? What's the PLAN!!!!!! It would be easier to form an opinion on Rogers if we knew: 1) his projected new contract requirements and how that fits with DeAngelo Hall's, 2) what is potential trade value was (e.g., 2nd round or 4th round), 3) what the reasoning was behind his alleged demotion (e.g., Hall is better and Spring's better at slot coverage). Those are all great points. Unfortunately, we have no idea what the Skins FO will do. Im purely trying to cover some bases based on what reports are saying. If Rogers is gone then we are left with Hall, Springs, Smoot, Tryon. Springs is only good for half the season. So then what, Hall, Smoot and Tryon. That makes me nervous. I would love to keep Rogers, but between what the team feels, and how much he wants, it doesn't seem realistic.
