WeaponsOfMossDestruction*
We have all made it through the season alive! Uncertainty best describes what we all felt with the Zorn regime. The first preseason game left us all ZORNY wanting more. We had visions of two tight end sets with Cooley and Davis. Big, tall possession reveivers in the form of Thomas and Kelly had all of us thinking TD. Starting 6-2 without the help of our offensive rookies was a surprise. Portis was leading the NFL in rushing yards. Then we hit the wall, the running game was slowed by injuries and the passing game became transparent; Moss, Cooley. Defensively we managed to play a strong season with zero pass rush. The secondary was the diamond in the ruff. Rogers, Springs, Hall, Landry, and Horton amazing. So here is the deal, we need O line, D line, and LB's and here is how we can get caliber young blood next year. You ready, you read this far prepare for it... trade Clinton Portis and Santana Moss for picks in the up comming draft. I love them both, I have there jerserys. Listen we need picks, we need a core group of young players who can grow together into a solid team and we can obtain this young core by trading these two stars for picks in the draft. If you disagree please suggest a plan that would inject life into our team, for next year and the years to come.
BAMBAM30
Who knows, we do need younger guys and that might help us in the long run... but it won't happen so there's really no point in talking about it IMO
mnb123
Clinton Portis is the one person on this team that is 100% immune from being traded/cut. And trading our only semi-reliable WR before finding out if one of these draft picks works out probably isn't a good idea. I would rather just do what we can with this years draft, work the next couple of year's drafts properly (very few skill players unless it is crucial that we pick one up), DO NOT trade away picks, and make smart decisions in FA (bring in players that can give you 5+ years more, instead of 35 year old washups such as JT). With the right moves and maybe a little luck, it shouldn't be out of reach to become a contender in the next 3 years or so. Hell, the Falcons and Dolphins did it in a year. But this is the Redskins FO, so you cant really count on that happening
ballin86
id rather try to find some moron GM that still thinks randle el is a good wr and get him to give us something for him....and if we cant, which we probably wont oh well... EDIT: I forgot.....vinny is still in washington....cancel any hope of that
Chief skin
Stimulate this franchise FIRE VINNY get a real football front office in place and marvel at the success
veteranskinsfan
Chief Skin- you are too logical. The solution as you suggested is simple because it focuses on doing what is best for this franchise for the future as well as for the present. What is interesting is that in the business world our owner had a reputation for firing senior managers all the time (every year) until he got people in those jobs who would bring him good financial results. Yet he has bonded with Vinny so Vinny stays. The fans are so tired of Vinny right now.
RedlightG20
This really could have gone in one of the other trading threads. But anyway, we would take a big cap hit for trading away Portis and Moss. Hey, are you the guy that sells those lame Weapons of Moss Destruction t-shirts at the games? Dictator
Aside from the cap hits, we wouldn't get a good return value on the trades for either players.
fwo40
SALARY CAP!! We can't afford the hits....and nobody wants their contracts.
red dot in a sea of blue
good thing reality isn't a necessary component to making a thread, or we'd have about 3 threads a year on this site... it's the salary cap, stupid. you can't just trade players for picks because you think it's a good idea... but hey, what other completely unrealistic scenarios can you come up with? Trading vinny for a bigger cap space? or trading our first rounder and ARE for 10 second rounders and Matt Cassel? look into a thing called "logic" before you fart-post next time please... it's been, and continues to be ridiculous around here...
