PresidentClinton07
So basically, I bought(or so I thought) a Microsoft Office Software CD(the full one) for only 15 dollars because of my employee deal. So I was half asleep while installing the CD, and half way through, I realized that it was a Microsoft Vista Business CD. Still half a sleep, I keep pressing okay and the rest of that crap, and end up having my laptop boot up with this new business version. Subsequently, I lost all my programs, pictures, videos, documents and software. Technically, its still there under my hard drive as "Windows old". My question is: How do I downgrade then operating system from this new vista I downloaded, to the old one I had. I just want my old user name and old vista to pop up when my computer starts. Its not a problem dealing with switching users on the computer, just with the operating system. How do I get my baby back?
aszumilo
Not an easy thing to downgrade Vista. Here is an article that may point you in the right direction. http://www.pctechbytes.com/computer/article-87.html here is the Microsoft knowledge base article on it. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/933168

The first link, doesnt do much, but the second one is helpful except for the fact that I dont have the original vista CD. It was already installed on the computer. Anybody, feel free to help. I promise you will have a great day tomorrow if doing so.
joeknows
can you not just restore?
Kosher Ham
can you not just restore? Same thing I was thinking. Go to system restore and plug in the day before you installed it. I think it may work.
PresidentClinton07
No luck guys, it says: "No restore points have been created on your computers system disk"
robotfire
The first thing you want to do before ANYTHING else is back everything up. The things you're going to try are going to delete everything on your computer if you don't know what you're doing.
robotfire
I would just back all my files up anyway, do a complete wipe-and-reload, and put all my files back on there.
