Seahawks Nate Burleson out for season

Seahawks receiver Nate Burleson will have knee surgery and will miss the rest of the season. Burleson was hurt in the Seahawks' 34-10 loss at Buffalo on Sunday.

By Danny O'Neil

Seattle Times staff reporter

RENTON — Seahawks receiver Nate Burleson suffered a torn knee ligament in the third quarter of Sunday's loss in Buffalo, and will undergo season-ending surgery.

Burleson caught five passes before leaving, including a touchdown. He led the team in scoring receptions last season with nine.

Wide receiver Deion Branch is not expected to play this week, coach Mike Holmgren said, and Bobby Engram remains out, as well. Holmgren said it's possible backup quarterback Seneca Wallace will play more time at receiver, and the team might look to the free-agent market to find a veteran to add to the roster.

Like F seriiously, our top 4 WRs (Branch, Engram, Burleson, Obomanu) are all down.

Interesting NFL year it looks like, the 3 most winningest teams and most consistent division winners over the past 3-5 years ( New England, Seattle, Indy) look extremely vulnerable.

What do you guys want for Santana? He should know the system.

ps, grab John Carlson in fantasy. He is now Hass' #1 option and looked really good catching everything week 1.

pps, realistically you guys could beat both New Orleans and Arizona at home and be sitting at 2-1 and Philly could lose @ Dallas and vs Pitt and be at 1-2, and things will suddenly be a lot sunnier. It's only 1 game, everyone is going to lose at least 1 game this season.

Be patient, I know first hand, The WCO takes a year or two to implement and for the QB to become really comfortable with it. And then it pays off.

You must be wrong. I thought it was teh kind of offense thats ready to go game one, and to struggle with it on opening day is a sign of failure?
