Rabblerouser
I was cruising the Jet board while they were listenig to the Jet GM on WFAN. They are led to believe from the interview that they'll let Coles go because of the #13 they're getting from us. They thought someone with a much lower draft pick would have signed him to an offer sheet. It appears they'll resign Morton though.
Eparadox
Good Luck trying to find a replacement for Coles with our #13, maybe if they package their two #1, they can land Johnson, and have themselves a Michael Westbroke.
BD
Fine by me. I like Coles better, and with Morton, we would probably have been paying way too much for a guy who isn't much better than Kenny Watson. Now the question is, do we stand pat with our picks as is? Or do we try to trade up for a first rounder?
Zen-like Todd
Fine w/ me. I really dig Morton, but between the two, I'd rather snag coles, and then sign Jermain Lewis to a contract. And oh yeah, we keep our 5th rounder.
Steve Y
Amen, BD!! I'd take Coles every tme over Morton. I honestly didn't want Morton anyway. I know we live in a day and age of "specialists", but paying big coin for a guy that doesn't actually do anything once the offense is on the field is stupid. I don't want Jermaine Lewis either. But Coles...now there is some talent.
redman
Morton is limited as a player to a special teams and perhaps a scat back role. Coles is a legit starter and might end up as our biggest weapon. Even to the extent we could find a WR like Coles in the draft this year, we wouldn't see that kind of production for several years. It's a good development for us.
inmate running the asylum
Coles who is only 25 is the best pickup by far, if this is how it plays out. There are a number of other FA kick returners out there who we can sign besides Morton, such as Charlie Rogers, Jermaine Lewis, Tamerick Vanover, and Ronney Jenkins. I hope we can get Jermaine Lewis. Awesome
BTW, how big is Coles? I'm guessing 5'10'',
gstahl
If they resign Morton... Isn't it great when you make a team step up and burn salary when they thought they were going to get away cheap. That IS a lot of money for a return specialist, whether we get him or not, might be nice to have the Jets open their wallet....
TheDiplomat
Coles is 5'11 195.
Yomar
its going to suck not having a draft pick, but at least now we can't choose Taylor Jacobs with the #13 pick so it may be a blessing in disguise
RiggoDrill
How fast is he?
G.Smitty
Coles is supposedly in the high 4.2's to the low 4.3's... He plays the game extremely fast though...
panel
can we trade down our number 1 draft pick from 13 to something lower, before the Jets get it?
Darth Tater
Knowing the team wanted a high-end WR, knowing that the only WR worthy of a top 10 pick would not be attainable and the one or two others who some perceive as being worthy would cost two draft choices, it would seem obvious from a draft-position, this is the best move possible. TC4
Well, I just saw Sportscenter and they had Chris Mortensen on who said that Jets GM Bradway is probally gonna match the offer sheet on KR/PR Morton but not the one for WR Coles. Guess we will know once the week is up on Thursday for a decision on Morton.
GrimReaper21
No u can't trade down. As we found out with the morton offer sheet, u need ur own draft pick or a higher one.
Pete
Man you don't know how much I want Vern:drool:   I I always thought he was better then that little shlitz PW at FSU, and as others have said, being a proven player it's pretty hard to lose on the deal. This kid is special, and Spurrier knows it. I'll bet the ol ball coach is droolin a bit
Eparadox
If Coles hadn't been a dumbass in college, he would have been at least a top 10 pick. He's as athletic as they come.
