If we can sign Smoot to a reasonable contract, then we could put him at nickel or maybe push Rogers for #2 corner. evucci Posted December 28, 2006 Share Posted December 28, 2006 Moving Springs to safety is a good idea. This give the Skins a proven cover guy playing deep coverage. Springs doesn't have to be a knockout hitter- we have ST for that. Then we sign Clements and Smoot (if he gets cut) to fill out the secondary. I'm not sure why this hasnt been brought up, but if the Redskins bring in a guy like Clements - I'd start the 2 Ohio State guys toghether. Give the Redskins the best pair of cover guys they can put on the field. They can have Rogers as a 3rd corner and even Vincent as a 4th. There's a pair of VERY GOOD safeties in the draft - probably in the middle of the round - which they could trade down to - to complete their secondary.
