Now that Republicans control Congress..

We can finally adapt that platform Democrats said we stood for. Starting tomorrow we can take the following actions;

Revoke all money for school lunch programs. If their parents can't afford to pay for or pack a lunch...eff 'em

Round up all those girlie type guys and deport them.

Start pouring oil and gas into the streams and rivers. Start those coal plants back up and triple their production so they belch copious amounts of crap into the air.

Cut off all assistance to the elderly. Let 'em freeze. That's just so much less Social Security we have to pay out.

Give huge tax breaks to all companies and businesses. Get rid of the earned income tax credit and make people who make less than $25,000 a year or whatever it is pay their fair share. 80% or so should do.

Start three or four wars similtaneously so Raytheon and McDonald Douglas and other defense contractors can make huge profits.

That should do for tomorrow. Can't wait until next week.

Yes yes yes. Wait til 2004. Although isn't that we were told after 2000??? Wasn't McAuliffe and the Dems going to teach Jeb a lesson???? Weren't the Dems going to send a statement and take back the House?

I'll wait til 2004, in fact, Im still waiting for 2002.

someone tell me why the people responsible for making all the products we enjoy should be forced to pay more in taxes than everyone else? when will it become so punitive to be productive that the producers stop, and what will the "less fortunate" do when that happens?

Here's an actual newspaper editorial that seems to take Air Sarges satirical positions literally. I can't believe there's a newspaper to the left of the NYT and WP. Talk about the sky is falling...

GOP national win

Thursday November 7, 2002

THANK GOD for the filibuster. That’s all we can say after watching Republicans take back solid control of the U.S. Senate Tuesday night.

With at least 51 seats, the GOP will regain control of Senate chairmanships and the work of Congress. Republicans also maintained control of the House, giving the GOP power over the legislative and executive branches for the next two years.

The only thing that may hold back the right’s agenda — more tax cuts for the wealthy, greater defense spending, more warmongering, fewer pollution controls, fewer worker safety safeguards, less corporate accountability, fewer civil liberties, less religious tolerance, etc., ad nauseum — will be the ability of Democrats to block the worst of it in the Senate.

Filibusters require 60 votes to end. As long as too many Democrats don’t stray, they can act as a brake on some of the most blatant excesses.

And those blatant excesses will be there, and may come back to haunt the Republicans.

After the Gingrich Revolution swept Republicans into control of the House and the Senate in 1994, the newcomers acted like the proverbial bull in the china shop. They did their best to gut environmental protections, cut school lunches, give away public land to corporate contributors, gut society’s safety net, cut Medicare and Medicaid, and deliver tax breaks to wealthy supporters.

The public was appalled at the unchecked conservatism, and the arrogant tone of rowdy Republicans in the House. While Republicans kept hold of both the House and the Senate in 1996, their majority in the House was cut nearly in half and President Clinton was re-elected in a landslide. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga., resigned in disgrace.

The coming two years will be difficult, and will have lasting impact. President Bush will have little check on his impulse to nominate the most conservative judges he can find to the federal bench. We hope Democratic filibusters can block his worst choices.

Top Democrats, though, should only blame themselves for what the nation will go through. Since 2000, they offered no coherent message, no real counter to President Bush. Except for mavericks like Sen. Robert C. Byrd, D-W.Va., they did nothing to energize their base or offer a competing vision for America’s growing number of independent voters.

Increasingly, Democrats have been running as warmed-over Republicans. Clearly, the strategy isn’t working. It’s time for a change.

you guys are killing me.

From my view in the middle, looks like a lot of ****ing and moaning still when nobody has gotten a chance to see what this Gov't can do.

Look, if they succeed then they will be re-elected. If they fail, they will have a harder time getting people to vote for them.

I hope they do well. Who wants the country to get worse than it has in the past 2 years? Bombings, Economy, etc. Come on now.
