I doubt a country who is so dependent on oil like the United States can afford to cut off countries who can supply it. . .

It would appear politicians disagree with this considering we have a LOT of undrilled oil reserves on US territory. In other words they feel we can afford to ignore large sources of oil supply.

Chavez is a douchebag, but doing this is only going to boost his ego and make him act like more of an ass. The best thing to do is to just ignore him and stop going to Citgo, if possible, without making a national story about it. It would hurt him a lot more if we treat him as insignificant as he really is than if we try to one-up him. Too bad our media is such a sucker for the quotes he gives.

Oil is fungible. Its a global market. He will sell his gas elsewhere.

That's really not the point. The point is that he's not going to profit off of his oil in this country.... the country in which he calls the President "Satan" and makes a mockery of his time here at the UN.

Let him go sell his oil somewhere else.... we should find ways to eliminate imports from him and force him to take his business somewhere else.

Left leaning "Hate America" Americans may hate Bush because he isn't an appeasing, white flag waving, negotiating, surrendering Defeat-O-Crat.... but that doesn't mean they have to buy their gas from a company in which it's profits line his pockets. Americans simply don't take kindly to having their face rubbed in the dirt... well... at least half the Americans.
