Brian Mitchell sighting

Today as I was driving into the Skins training camp, I noticed the car in front of me was a Bently...I told my friend that I bet that it was someone important. But then I thought, how important can he be if he's parking with the rest of the fans. Well I ended up parking beside the Bently and the driver was Brian Mitchell. You know he has it bad when he can't even get into the real parking in Redskins Park. I didn't bother asking him for an autograph or taking a pic since I don't like him cause of all the Skins bashing he does. Just felt like sharing for those of you who do like him for some reason.

yeah he always has something bad to say about the organization...especially on that show.

O no! Someone said something bad about the Skins? How dare he! I agree with Pimpey42000, this guy stuck around here for maybe one playoff run and a plethora of bad decisions by Redskins management. So if anyone has a right to criticize the Skins it's certainly him.

Not to mention all day long all anyone on WTEM or Triple X does is talk about how great the Skins are. Not since the Steve Spurrier days has anyone on wtem taken any real exception to a decision by the Skins. They also refuse to admit there are a load of other local teams which also deserve coverage. I give Brian a lot of credit because he's actually starting to put together a decent show covering all aspects of DC sports.

NO, this guy spent a lot of time in DC during a time in which we were perennial losers........I think he deserves some credit he was here a lot longer than some other guys.

Thank God, at least on this thread we still have some classy and grateful Redskins fans [ Pimpey42000, DoubleA-Ron ] who still remember Brian Mitchell contribution during the dark old days. Bless you both!!

puke.gif And unbless and curse those fans who are not grateful.

So Brian Mitchell is untouchable? Thanks for letting me know guys. I wasn't aware that you become an immortal God simply for sticking around during the "Dark Era" of Redskins football. Honestly, I listen to his show, and I do think he is a bit of an ass. He was a great Special Teams player, but that doesn't make him a great person. :2cents:

I can’t blame B-Mitch for being upset at the Organization. You would be too if you said you would stay in Washington for the league minimum so you can finish you career as a Redskin and your boss cut you to make room for Deion Sanders.

:soapbox:

I actually bumped into B-Mitch on my way to Redskins Park last night. We stopped at a gas station in Ashburn and he was hitting up the ATM wearing his Pro-Bowl 2006 slippers (I guess he went as a guest). He was nice enough to say hi to my kid and he signed an autograph for a soccer mom who happened to be in the store at the time then got in his Bentley and rolled. His car is freaking sick.

man who cares if he stayed here during the "dark ages"...so did D. Green and but you never hear him call out the organization for every little thing and calling out our players. Mitchell called CP out either last season or his first season here and CP had a great game after the call out. Brian Mitchell tried to take credit on the show saying it was him who motivated CP to play the way he did...CP fired back saying that he doesn't need any motivation from him. I don't like BMitch and I don't give a **** if you guys think I'm "unclassy" cause of it.

Ken Harvey was around for the poor seasons under Turner. Never had the chance to play on a championship team or for Gibbs as Mitchell did. Had to retire due to knee injuries just before the Redskins team made the playoffs in 1999.

I don't see this guy out there with a big chip on his shoulder. As an ex-Skin he supports the team and hopes we do well. He criticizes the play of the team when they perform badly but doesn't go back on the Skins and glad hand the Eagles or Giants as Mitchell sometimes does.

the trouble with Mitchell is that he can only lampoon the team when it is down and as long as Gibbs, Williams, Saunders, etc. keep the team winning and in contention Mitchell has to muzzle himself.

But I GUARANTEE you if the team falls short in any way or has problems he will be a harsher critic than the beat writers for the Cowboys and Giants

I have a better Brian Mitchell sighting:

Redgate Golf Course in Rockville during the spring. Im in the bathroom washing my hands. B-Mitch scurries in, gives me a quick nod on his way into a stall and im not even sure he looked at the toilet seat before he sat down and showed that turd who was boss. He must have been in pain because it was loud.

Bad hotdog on 7th hole i guess.

I'm guessing you haven't listened to WTEM very long because they have bashed the Skins unmericifully in the past. Steve Czaben's whole schtick is bashing the Skins. If you are talking about now what exactly is there to bash them about?

As for Brian Mitchell I have no problem if he (or anybody) bashes them for the right reasons. But quite often it seems like he is bashing them for releasing him in 2000.

I think that mitchell deserves some credit for what he did as a redskin and as an analyst he has a right to criticize the organization, particularly since in B.G. (before gibbs return), we had so many things go wrong. I know that there are people out there that think that we are going to win the super bowl tomorrow, but the reality is that it is august and that things are done one game at a time. Who knows how the season will turn out. I think that we will do very well, but if someone doesn't agree with how the redskins do things all the time it doesn't mean that they should be bashed for criticizing them.

Brian's a good guy. I think his criticisms are fair and I've heard him on several occassions say "I said this and I've been proven wrong". I think the guy is trying to do the best job possible. He's definitely being himself, that's for sure. Outside of Gary Clark, I've never seen more vocal and demonstrative competitor. I think that same attitude is what he takes to the studio. I appreciate that.

Now here's a little story that may shock a few folks. I'm out at the Monday Night Live show last year when Darrell Green was on...and "Mr. Redskin" flat out refused to sign autographs or say hello to the fans. In fact I stayed until there were just a handful of people left and he still felt obliged to be escorted by his entourage out through the kitchen to a waiting limo that wisked him away. Par for the course for Mr. Redskins I come to find out later. Well what's the point? That same night, Brian Mitchell is circulating in the crowd and signed every autograph that was requested of him. For me that tells me how he feels about the fans at least. It was something I greatly appreciated, especially in light of how DG handled the same situation.
