PCRoughrider
I'm watching him right now, playing against Ricky Williams in the CFL. He's been blowing threw Toronto's line, all game. http://www.bluebombers.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=118&Itemid=175 (The game, Winnepeg vs. Toronto is on Comcast Sports Net, right now (7/8).) Mr. S
I was surprised we got rid of him before 2005, he seemed to do pretty well as a pass-rusher in 2004 alongside Evans. Guess it was down to him and Evans last year as Boschetti impressed too.
Shotgunner
I always thought Warner was a great addition to our team. GW, is a master at talent evals and must of seen better elsewhere.
RyansRangers
I liked Warner he was just as good as evans in my opinion. Though I guess if our staff didnt want him and he didnt get picked up elsewhere we werent missing much
Maggio
I liked Warner alot too, but I am glad that our line has improved so much that he couldn't sniff a roster spot.
bulldog
Warner negotiated his own exit from town by trying to play hard ball with the Redskins over his contract. He disputed whether the Skins in fact had an option on his services prior to 2005 and tried to free himself to find other teams to bid up his services after getting to start some games in 2004 and post 3.5 sacks. It all blew up in his face. The Redskins who were willing to pick up the option got sick of his grandstanding and decided to let him go. He failed to find a team to take him in time for the 2005 season. Warner is nowhere near as valuable as a player to the Redskins as Demetric Evans. Evans is a 6'3 and legitimate 280, and can play all 4 defensive line positions for the team in a pinch. He is only 26 and has a great attitude. Griffin has taken him under his wing. Warner, now 30, and 260 is a light DE who is a weak link against the run. On a good team is a depth player and situational sub. Nothing more. Thanks for the explaination, I never knew why he didn't get resigned. I picked Evans to be this years surprise player of the season. Once we picked up Carter, Evans became the somewhat forgotten player. I see him putting together a solid season.

Nice post bulldog - while I agree with the others who were enthusiasic about Warner's performance, you've summed up the whole situation pretty well. skindogger47
I was seriously going to buy a Ron Warner jersey before they released him. That's the only move Gregg Williams has made that I've disliked.
