Do you place most of the blame on the owners? the players? or some other factor?

I've got to say I think it's the players. I undertand that the NFL makes a boat load of money, but its a business. I think the best analogy would be to look at the situation in Hollywood. Actors make millions of dollars per picture, and usually there are 1 or 2, that are getting paid this much. But do you think that the total amount of revenue shared with the actors or "stars" of the show is close to 56% let alone 60%? No because there are other costs in running a team, and something known as ROI.

I don't know the players are the ones that are living out their dream, if each team can't agree to share 105 or 106 million dollars per 53 man roster they need a physical, because i question their sanity.

Don't see too many die hard conservatives hailing from massachussetts.

Not in the last 2 Centuries anyway. This area of the country was the BIRTHPLACE of Conservatism and Capitalism. The Central/Western part of the Communistwealth is much more Conservative than the inside Rt. 495/128 area.

Though it is nice to see someone who can recognize the continuation of political/philosophical thought from that realm into everyday life (including the NFL) when they see it. You have my appreciation for that.

Well its the signature that gives it away, so don't be so quick to give your appreciation, haha.

However, I have to disagree. You see the problem in the complete idea of sharing, and would wish for complete dissolution of the cap, no?

I think the cap is actually a good idea for the NFL as a whole, though I feel bad for Danny b/c his 900 million dollar investment has only grown about 10% in the past 10 years, due to this revenue sharing. But for them to hardline the owners into giving up 60% of their revenue for their salaries is ridiculous, i mean i think 56% is too generous.

I'd be curious to see how you think having no cap would benefit the whole NFL, or is it simply that you don't care that it suceeds, the NFL should be a market driven business in every city (if it doesn't work see Arizona, New Orleans get the hell out) ??

You are correct. I have SERIOUS issues with both the Salary Cap AND Revenue Sharing. I want to see both of them done away with ENTIRELY. I also want to see the entire last 12 years wiped out of the NFL record books.

I totally disagree with the idea that the Cap is a good thing. It never has been and never will be. It's taken a GREAT sport and turned it into the Don't Lose League.

I am not a fan of the NFL and I never have been. I root for the Washington Redskins. The NFL should be as Capitalistic as any other business venture... if certain cities and owners can't make it work, that's their problem, not mine or the Redskins.

Once 8-10 teams went out of business the league would probably be a MUCH better product than what it is today, in my mind.

i think the biggest problem is the way players are payed, i believe that the players are payed a base payment, a signing payment and then payed another large amount each year they stay with the team, for a start do away with the signing payment, it could be intergrated with the base payment, which by the way should be spread out over the whole year not just the season, (this would make it easier for the owners, as they would not have to spend so much all at one time), the yearly payment should also go, my boss does not pay me an amount each year to keep working for him, clean up the system, make it easy for fans players and owners to comprehend

It's the owners league. It's the owners teams.

The players just work there. Any labor deal that exists is ONLY because the owners accepted it. If you forfeit the authority to run your business as you see fit you can not blame it on someone else for accepting the power you give them.

I hate the Salary Cap

I see nothing right about forced Socialism in sports.

So if The Redskins land several Airline,Soft Drink, FastFood, Car and Credit Card deals or after turning around Six Flaggs put in Redskins related themes they should share with others who don't work to market their team?

Heck No.

One more thing if owners want to remain cheap thats their right but if several owners want to spend alot to make there teams dominant for more than one year and hang on to their players I'm all for it.

If the socalled small market teams cant hack it then the owners should sell and let the team get an owner who isnt a penny pincher.

It is not the players as much as it is hte association that represents them. I bet you most of the players wouldn't back the NFLPA if they really knew what this means. The players should realize that if there is no salary cap then the 9 super teams will pay their players. The other teams aren't going to pay there players and they aren't going to be comptetitve. So if you are a professional football player and you don't get on one of those big market teams, you mine as well go play in Canada

56% is very generous as far as local revenue. More money for the lower market teams owners to line their pockets with instead of spending it on making their franchise more valuable. Danny boy could buy the Cardinals and turn them into 900m team.
