skinsfanbu
Marty will stay if he dumps Raye...How about an offer to Russ Grimm as Offensive Coordinator. He's done a great job in Pittsburgh and it's time to move up in the coaching ranks. This would send two messages...flexiblity in Marty and a re-commitment to the history and legacy of the Super Bowl 'Skins. What do you guys think? Art
I think Grimm only did a so-so job as our offensive line coach and I don't know that he would have the mindset to be an offensive coordinator. I would not be for it, as I'd prefer to go with someone a little more known in terms of what we might see. ------------------ Doom is in the box. redman
Interesting thought, but probably premature as far as Grimm's career goes. He's got experience coaching linemen, which is important. But I doubt he's got good experience regarding route running and passing, two key ingredients in any offense. He should be a QB or receivers coach before he becomes a coordinator. ------------------ "Loosen up, Sandy baby. Darth Tater
Well, he was our emergency QB a couple of seasons
@DCGoldPants
I'd bring Russ back to be OL AND TE coach if he could handle that. Not likely we would WANT to though. ------------------
SPare
Grimm did a fantastic job of coaching the O line during the time that he was here. Some of the lines that we had during that time were brutal, but then the talent that was here was really bad. What you could always see during those years, however, was that they would be improving consistently. THAT is the result of good coaching. Similarly, it is just coincidence that Pittsburgh, with little in the way of personnel changes becomes one of the best lines in the game in the span of 1 year. I don't think so. Now, is he ready to be an offensive co-ordinator? Maybe, maybe not. He's certainly not coming back here unless it's for a promotion, and even then likely not. Unfortunately, I think that Marty burned that bridge. Actually, I think that letting go of Grimm was one of the biggest off season mistakes that Marty made. Maybe the skins wouldn't have led the league in pre-snap penalties with a line coach who was a little more familiar with teaching the mechanics of the position.... ------------------
redman
You're right SPare. I too wasn't happy when Grimm left either. And he does seem to have improved the Steelers' line. ------------------ "Loosen up, Sandy baby. OrangeSkin
How about we kidnapp Mike Murlarkey or Steve Spurrier and force them to be our offensive coordinator?
