Somewhere in the Northern Virginia suburbs, a dog has the same name as the coach of the Washington Redskins.

Joe Gibbs, the coach of the Redskins, is fine with that. In fact, he met his namesake Saturday night at Redskin Park when the team returned from its playoff victory at Tampa Bay.

"There are so many funny things that happen with the fans," Gibbs said, laughing.

yeah i saw that on the interview. the guy is SO humble it's awesome. he knows what the fans means and he takes care of us more so than anyone else. I love the guy and love him even more for making a comeback and succeeding when people thought it was for naught! you gotta love the man. SS quit 2 yrs! hehe, gibbs doesn't know the meaning of quit.

Ok I guess I need to tell Gibbs story! As all of you know I work with Basset Hound Rescue of Old Dominion in my spare time. I handle all of Loudoun County, and I am the fundraising coordinator and an adoption placement coordinator (for all 5 states). Well Gibbs was one of my adopters Basset Hound. His name was Speed then and he was only 5 months old. Due to a divorce my adopter could not adopt a another Hound and had to give him up. BROOD did not have any foster homes open so I decided to foster him for a week. Within the first 24 hours Pez and I were watching the Joe Gibbs press conferance when the hound came running into the living room sat in front of my TV and stared at Joe Gibbs on TV. Pez saw this looked at the hound and said you are not a Speed you are a Gibbs. My hound ran to Pez and jumped in his lap. From that moment on he would not answer to Speed only to Gibbs! I also knew we were adopting him at that moment in time. So now not only do I have a Basset Hound named Gibbs I have the record for quickest Foster Failure!

Huly I have a Bassett also and they are awesome dogs. They are a little honorary but cool. My dog has heart disease and we have had to take him to a specialist 2 times a year so we have a real vested interest in Diesel. Yea thats his name.

They are amazing Hounds! Sorry about the heart issues! It can be hard! I love my bassets! BROOD has rescued a few Bassets out of TN.
