DCNightHawk
I hate OT, it always comes down to the coin flip. we need the college rules. Start the ball on the 30 of the opposing teams terrritory and each give them a shot. Who ever scores the most points wins. It makes more sense. qb18_200400
the nfl will never do it because the games would last too long and would cut into the others games that are on local networks. yeah it does make sense, but won't happen......unless we get a new comish???? Guest sith lord
I agree that the OT rule needs to be changed in the NFL, but no offense, were you complaining when the Cowboys got beat Thursday in OT?
scruffylookin
Disagree. The defense has a chance to stop them. So both teams do technically have a chance. The college rules are way too artificial. You already start in scoring position.
DCNightHawk
yah, but the fact that the team who wins the coin toss has a clear advantage in winning the game... is this the way we want to decide who wins a close game, by chance????? schmitty199
you werent complaining about overtime when denver beat the cowboys in oddly the same way on thanksgiving......

Historically the winning % of the team that wins the toss is close to 50%
Warhead36
We beat Seattle in OT scoring first before they touched it.... Don't complain. OT is fine. Proves the best overall team wins it.
mookie0720
Or we could just be better on defense.
Jordan086
I don't like OT either, but that isn't the reason we lost the game. The rules have been this way and it isn't like it was a surprise going in. 3 games like this in a row is tough to take. :helmet:

You already start in scoring position. Not if the team losing the toss defense was last on the field during regulation. when that happens the percentage of lose for the team losing the coin toss is pretty high. over 70% I believe I read. Our defense was tired, and I knew when they had to go out again in OT first.. it was over.

Bad Man Burgendy & Gold
I love overtime just not this overtime. Football is not about playing fair, or giving the other team a chance, the overtime is instant and either bitter or truimphant, winner take all. Its great how it is, college is the system that gets it wrong.
santanamoss89
it would be somewhat smart for their to be 1 o'clock and 5 o'clock games so the overtime rule can be changed and have an hour to be long. Also that way their would be a postgame show instead of no break and another game.
DCNightHawk
the seahawks are about to lose because of the overtime rule too....
MONTEY
Overtime or not, Skins should not have let It get to that. They failed. They just don't have the ability to put a team away.

BengalsNation
The only thing I don't like about the current OT rules is that it only lasts one quarter. The teams should play indefinitely (no game clock, only a play clock) until someone scores. Ties, while rare, are lame.
dragon_mikal
Everyone screams that they hate sudden death when their team loses in OT. I know I said it on Thursday...hell I even said it today. But in the end I just feel that sudden death helps make football what it is. Really exciting stuff when your team ends up in overtime, though this year every game my team seems to have played ends up being exciting.
