Walking Deadman
No....it was Taylor. Smoot would have gotten burned just like Walt and Carlos, Fred bit alot on plays like that. If Taylor had been back there, I think Galloway or Shepard probably wouldn't have made it through the whole game.
Actaeon
haha my guess is no.....because he's HURT. He was terrible before he broke his collarbone.
fdarugar
Not bloodly likely, you have seen him play this season? You realize Smoot played well under Williams, right? Smoot is struggling cuz he is in a new system which consistantly churns out bad defenses. The truth is if Smoot was here our defense would be better. Good thread. Newera
Smoot has been getting smoked this year. Not worth the money he wanted.
Newera
No one can cover in this league if you have no pass rush.
The Guru
There is no doubt we miss Smoot, but more than Taylor or Griffin, I don't think so.
Newera
Defensive line improvement needs to be this teams priority in the off season. The smoke and mirrors are catching up to us. Two best lineman are Salvea and Griffin, and Griff is out. Our ends, quite frankly, probably wouldn't start on a lot of teams.

Two best lineman are Salvea and Griffin, and Griff is out. Our ends, quite frankly, probably wouldn't start on a lot of teams. Daniels is solid and has made a few plays recently. Are lineman aren't bad, the problem is our DL is filled with run stoppers, and none of them can consistantly rush the passer.
Warhead36
Smoot wouldn't do any better. Darrel Green wouldn't have made a difference out there. We need a pass rushing DE. Give all of our offseason available funds to Dwight Freeney and draft for depth.
PCRoughrider
Fred Smoot wouldn't have gotten burned as much as Walt Harris did yesterday. In this system, Fred Smoot is a much better cornerback than Harris. All Smootie would have had to have done was give up one fewer touchdown! Just one!!! GoSkins561
I havent seen balls flying over the middle this season, like I did yesterday. If Sean Taylor has that big of an impact on our defense we may want to consider picking up another Super Stud Safety to cover the middle, just in case Taylor does get hurt, again. FootballGuy2677
...it was Fred Smoot. Hey dude...if sean taylor played last night take a touchdown away and add a field goal...he would of made that much of a diffrence...notice they were ripping us up in the middle? IowaSkin
The ViQueens didn't need Smoot to beat the Giants @ NY on Sunday. (Something the 'Skins couldn't do, BTW.) Smoot was out with a broken collar bone, or something of the sort. And Smoot has been getting burned all year, as said earlier. And he hasn't been healthy since camp, as usual.
