Bizkiteer
How many safties do we need? Is there a new formaton where more than 2 or 3 safeties lineup on the field? I guess Danny boy wants to get one over on all the teams that are switching to 3-4 D's and create hsi own 1-1-9 Defense.
Dirk Diggler
Apparently we don't want the Cowboys to be the only team in the division with safeties who can't cover. Thank God for Sean Taylor.

TK
http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=8983 Redskins Sign Veteran DB Brown By Gary Fitzgerald Redskins.com August 16, 2005 The Redskins have signed veteran defensive back Eric Brown, the team announced on Tuesday. Brown is regarded as a hard-nosed and versatile safety who can play both strong and free safety. Last season, Brown played for the Houston Texans and appeared in 13 games with four starts. During his career, he has started 87 of 97 games, recording 543 tackles (384 solo), 6.5 sacks, 30 pass deflections and nine interceptions. Brown, 6-1 and 210 pounds, entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos in 1998. During his rookie season, he appeared in 11 games with 10 starts. Brown started Denver's season-opening win over New England, becoming only the second rookie defensive back in league history to start for a defending Super Bowl champion. (The other was Darrell Green in 1983 for the Redskins). Brown played his first four seasons with Denver before signing with the Houston Texans as a free agent in 2002. Brown played his college ball at Mississippi State after transferring from Blinn Junior College. He earned second-team All- Southeastern Conference honors as a senior after recording 102 tackles and six sacks.
Gallen5862
This looks like a great signing. We can use hard hitting Safeties.
CEJ2200
Another safety - Is there something we don't know about Bowen or Taylor?! Or - are they thinking of moving Taylor over to corner (we could use some help in that area).
bulldog
1. Taylor might not play 16 games depending on the trial schedule. 2. Bowen is now starting with the second team and may not be at 100%. 3. Omar Stoutmire and Pierson Prioleau may not have proved to Williams that they are viable starters if someone goes down with an injury.
Stew
it's a good, smart move. Especially if he came cheap.
Octane67
As long as he passes a physical and is healthy, I think this is a good solid move for the Skins
Phat Hog
I guess we'll see him on Friday...hopefully he'll do better than the safeties that started against Carolina.

Where in the world are you getting 70-80 tackles in a season from? If he's getting that many then he's our full time starter.

Guest amaprius
I am pretty sure Prioleau is not working out and I think they want some competition in case Taylor doesnt play this year.
