  1. Adding to all this if you go by the old Bill Parcells model of how to draft a QB, the only one who fits is Daniels THE PARCELLS’ RULES 4 Year player 3 year starter College graduate 30 career starts 23 career wins + 60% completion percentage 2:1 passing touchdown to interception ratio. Sure we can rattle off a list of quarterbacks Bill Parcells would never have drafted following his own methodology such as Pat Mahomes, Josh Allen, Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers. Further in to the past he wouldn’t have selected Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Matt Ryan. Current NFL players who would have made the Parcells’ list would include Lamar Jackson, Derek Carr, Dak Prescott. Casting the net a little further back, he would’ve identified Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees and Andrew Luck. Clearly there are hits and misses in those lists but the reason this is interesting is that recent evaluation misses such as Zach Wilson and Trey Lance would not have been considered under this methodology. More over, the underdog story of last season, Brock Purdy would have been. Throw in to the mix the fact that some of this preseasons top performing rookie QB’s fit the model, maybe Coach Parcells methodology still hold some weight today?
  2. Yeah, I've been thinking about this a lot too. I am not ready to say anyone should be QB1 over Williams but Williams has such massive boom/bust potential. I do think if we are depending on analytics than not much justifies Williams being QB1 but when you watch him play its hard not to see his potential (its just about how much and how quickly you think he can learn/grow/clean up those bad habits)
  3. I know PFF isn't the end all be all but the more I look at their numbers, the more risky Williams actually seems (moreso than Daniels or Maye)
  4. Because you have to pay them? Why are you paying someone to be inactive most games? Very few teams carry 3 QBs on the active roster. We don't right now. And most will not sign with a team to be QB3. What is the point in keeping Howell rather than finding a trade partner if you know he is not the guy? He got outplayed by Jacoby, nobody should even feel comfortable with him as a backup. Most people want him to start against the Cowboys and these last weeks of the season because there is a greater chance that he will lose. That means most have zero faith in him clearly.
  5. Agreed. I also prefer it to. There is nothing left for Sam here IMO. Him being friends with Maye means nothing. It will be a new offensive system so its not like Howell can teach him anything (and even of EB stayed, I still don't think Howell could really teach him anything considering how much he struggled). A veteran is the way to go. We heard Mahomes talk about how valuable Alex Smith was. We heard Jordan Love talk about learning from Rodgers. We are seeing now how Flacco's experience is helping the Browns.
  6. So I've moved to watching Jayden Daniels after watching a bunch of Maye. Daniels was REALLY good as a freshman at Arizona State, runner up for Offensive Player of the Year, beat several ranked teams like Oregon with a far less talented squad (besides Aiyuk). He also seemed to run a slightly different offense than the one at LSU as his head coach was former NFL coach Herm Edwards. It's wild people act like he was only good at LSU. His freshman year, he and Aiyuk had Arizona State performing way above the talent level of the team. Also a freshman Jayden Daniels vs Justin Herbert and #6 ranked Oregon is a fun one to watch:
  7. I don't know tbh. I think as far as HC goes there isn't enough talk about people like Frank Smith from the Dolphins, Bobby Slowik from the Texans and Todd Monken from the Ravens. Also I understand the concern about hiring a defensive minded head coach and losing your OC every few seasons but I think Macdonald absolutely has to be considered.
  8. This is a fair assessment and about where I am.
  9. Fair enough. Mel Kiper said before Benjamin that he was hearing the same thing
  10. So its totally believable that Maye might be viewed as #1 over Williams but not at all believable that Daniels might be #2? In a year where Lamar Jackson is winning MVP and Baltimore is rhe best team in the NFL? Hmmm.
  11. If he adds a few pounds he would basically be the same size as Trevor Lawrence - not too worried about his size. More worried about the way he throws his body around. He NEVER slides smh
  12. He's from Carolina and almost went with them last year until he decided he wanted one more year with Detroit. I think the better question is will we be willing to offer him what Carolina is and I don't think we should or will be. Tepper has made no secret that Ben is his #1 choice and he will do whatever to get him. I would not be surprised if he was given full control of personnel decisions like Rivera was and we should NOT do that again.
  13. My preference would be that we get the 2nd pick, Cardinals get the 3rd pick, Patriots 4th and Giants 5th. That way if the Bears want to trade down but still want MHJ, we are their only potential trade partner because AZ would take him at 3. It would also make it a lot harder (if the Bears take a QB) for the Giants to get one of the top 3 guys without trading up.
  14. Yeah I have to agree And I don't get hyping Maye when it comes to ball placement when he is below average when it comes to on target rate at every single throw depth
