  1. For no good reason Ron blew up our secondary which for better or worse helped to get us to the playoffs , who the heck does this? I am mostly pissed letting Darby go, cutting Moreland and the real boneheaded move sending Reeves a guy who faced off (well) against Big Ben and Tom friggin Brady to the practice squad this year. The personnel moves look like a kid destroying the sand castle he was making in a rage fit because mommy wont buy him ice cream at the beach. Ron is one of the worst personnel coach/gm's I have ever seen bar none. X's and O's may be his thing, But personnel needs to be taken completely from his control.
  2. Some players are trying , I give them credit and no I did not expect them to beat the Chiefs, perhaps the Saints BUT I think at this point this should be said even if they were slightly more competitive than they are now. In my humble opinion the below average play is on Rivera. After the Jay and Brucie show ; this team screamed "Rebuild" from top to bottom. Rivera came in and promised to do just that. What happens? mid-last-season Rivera notices the NFC east is a cluster F and decides he can exploit that and make a playoff run in his first year!!?? virtually unheard of in the NFL. He puts the team into a pressure cooker of win-now; and raises expectations through the roof. We beat a 11-0 Steelers team that could care less as they were due to drop a game and we come close against a Tampa Bay team playing their 2nd string in the 2nd half as they were heading to the Superbowl. Enter this season he cuts Darby and Moses like that's the only real reason we did not go far and brings in win-now high priced FA's who are really in it at this point for the paycheck regardless of what they say on camera ( we have seen this movie before with Dan ). He then inexplicably is passive in the draft. NO trading up for true blue chips NO trading down to amass draft picks like most *serious* teams do when they are rebuilding. He just lets picks fall to us like we are some sort of permanent playoff team and just need a tweak Does Rivera even understand the NFL comes with a "Trade" button and many "rebuilding teams use it" ?. Now all the smoke and mirrors have been exposed. The defense is no where near ready for prime time; players who should not be here are still playing. You passed on a young gun QB and went with a QB who is older than half the fan base and has the injuries to prove it, so now your QB is someone who was a backup on a XFL team and shows the poor decision making that got him there. My friends, we have been exposed for the frauds we are, we are light years away from being realistically competitive , our roster is still in shambles (see our secondary) . Sad thing is it may take a couple years till Rivera excepts he cannot act like a child who wants to play with their toy now now now without reading the instructions first. But then maybe that's why Dan hired him , that's exactly the way Dan *IS*. I hold out hope Rivera will snap out of it and focus on real roster building and team cohesion and turn this around. True winning franchise building is a long boring process (and not with Carolina cast-offs). Rivera needs to get real about this as well as the pseudo-GM and stop with the "Fake it till you Make it" quick fix, sugar high. While we all enjoyed the sugar rush last year the hangover just a'int worth it.
  3. I know their *WAS* a Heinicke Bandwagon for awhile , but lets be honest we are not so smart and the rest of the league is so dumb. He was never recruited high out of high school and went to Old Dominion. He was never drafted, and bounced around the league as a journey man 2nd-3rd string guy. He was cut and platooned to the XFL were he did not even start. We got him while he was sitting on his couch out of any and all leagues. To expect him to be some kind of "game buster" would have meant every college, every pro scout, decades of experience was completely wrong. Simply put the NFL does not work that way. He is and shall always be a serviceable 2nd string or decent 3rd string guy with occasional flashes. He's Colt McCoy
  4. I think everyone should listen to Jon Kliens interview with Logan Paulsen where they take apart our Defense. Paulsen basically says they are doing nothing, there is no disguise to our defense, it's straight up vanilla. He does not want to admit it on air but basically hes laying blame on RR and JDR. My take they are both woeful at personnel. RR seems to over value ex-carolina cast offs; they pretended this was a Superbowl team and did next to nothing in the draft. Despite the team needing more impactful talent. They did not move up in the draft to get a true blue chipper nor move down to amass draft picks. As for Jamin Davis alot of fans like him BUT. For a 1st round pick he has to come in and add immediate value and impact something hes not doing. It's fine for a 2nd or 3rd round pick to have the training wheels on for awhile but if your going with guy in the 1st round he should be out there nearly every play impacting the game . Lastly what the hell is wrong with RR and Collins. Collins could not garner a 6th round trade pick at this point yet RR starts him. We could get 10X more value to just trade for a decent safety for a 3rd round pick and sit his poor ass with his gloried Bruce Allen salary till we can cut him.
  5. I actually think Alabama could torch this defense right now. RR better get started on a complete secondary and linebacker rebuild and train Jamin Davis up Right quick
  6. Any team that starts Fuller, Collins, Bostic and Hopkins has a coaching problem. The world sees these guys are killing us. Yet RR outright refuses to trade, sign or start back-ups and what has happened to our glorified 1st round pick, is he even out there? 1st round picks have to be somewhat plug and play except QB's who get long development time. We won but we have been lucky (false start in giants game) and 17# ( who we stole in the 3rd round ). RR is so conservative when it comes to personnel that his stubbornness to make in-season roster moves will kill us when our luck runs out and it will.
  7. The issues with Young is NOW the NFL has real tape and film on him from last year rather than him just beating up on piss poor Big 10 line fodder. He will now have to prove he can go to the second level and adjust to them. The problem is the knock on Young out of college once you got through the ridicules hype was that he was not a Nick Bosa type in that he relied far to much on a speed move around the edge. Now scouts did not say he could not bull or power rush but that he simply did not do it; it was all speed rushing. The NFL has now adjusted to that and are slowing him down by getting tackles to get their hands on him quickly, basically body blocking. He must pull out a new trick either hand slap downs or bull and power rushing thru the lineman which he CAN do and do well but requires coaches to tell him to do that. If their are issues with Young this season its Del Rio's fault for not working with him more in the off-season and training him to use more of a bag of tricks to reach the quarterback
  8. Maybe still does not explain Turners off the wall Offensive play calling. Not calling anything a conspiracy but whatever Turner was smoking he should share
  9. Does anyone think Rivera tossed this game? there have been documented times coaches HAVE done this for reasons. Reasoning goes he knew going in there was no way his team could compete with the Bills so he used the game to test certain things and treat it like a per-season game 1. Running Gibson a unusual number of times on brutal up-the-gut runs which went no where. Gibson may have made the transition from WR to RB but hes not and will never be a pounder up the middle. 2. The "as reported" narrative that Taylor Heinicke was not listening to coaches and ignoring wide open check down throws and going for the big money throws; something tells me he does not have the cred to be willful like that and might have been told to do this. 3. The ridiculous amount of calls having Taylor Heinicke throw dangerous thread the needle sideline passes which were not connecting so many times even the commentators where baffled as to why Turner kept calling them 4. The clip where Chase Young was yelling at Del Rio , I suspect because on a number of plays Del Rio was dropping him into coverage ( which is insane) I am not saying something was up, but some of the coaching decisions were down right crazy, it does make one wonder what they were thinking
  10. Our whole philosophy for nearly half a decade is to overstock the Defensive line with 1#'s starving every other position group remorselessly. If we offered our entire front 7 for Lamar Jackson the Ravens would laugh in our faces, if we offered them for Patrick Mahomes the Chiefs would hang up the phone and then laugh in our faces (and not because of the cap hit). What value have we actually gotten on our obsessive D.line Drafting?. It gets worse when you factor in we choose Daron Payne OVER Lamar Jackson in the draft. I was heartbroken that we took Jamin Davis (it's a long ball passing league we could make due with the need for another box guy) over a up and coming QB or 1st round dynamic receiver (to complement #17) or a future secondary stud or a 1st round LT (cosmi is a project RT) to replace the loss of a 1st ballot Gold Jacket HOFer in Trent Williams. We have to end this obsession with collecting every 1st round box guy that pops out of the SEC/ACC and spread the 1st round love around.
  11. This game did it, After years of posting on Hogshaven I gave up and joined es.redskins. I simply cannot abide all the "Baghdad Bobs" over there with their "everything is fine" "no need to worry". Any criticism is defected by "it's a scheme problem" , "it's an adjustment problem" kumbaya rainbows and unicorns fantasies about this team. I have in tried to convince them that this team is fundamentally broken in it's coaching staff (Del Rio) to its roster choices, to its outdated schemes.. Don't get me wrong the situation is salvageable but the team must reverse course on a myriad of issues and stop playing the "we are so great, best defense in the league, RR is a guru hype junk". WTF only won last year because we beat up on a piss poor NFC east division and a overconfident Steelers team ravaged by COVID. We lost every preseason game going into this year and we should be 0-3 but for a extremely RARE false start on a field goal in the Giants game. A little reality check is long past due and I hope some here will agree.
