  1. Long story short was we drafted Jahan Dotson, we had Terry McClaurin and Curtis Samuel. We drafted Dyami Brown last year. So he was looking at 5th string WR at best. The Rams called and he got the slot 3rd WR role. Much more playing time available to him there. It wasn't that we didn't want him back, it was the he saw it as a better opportunity than here.
  2. yeah I didn't see that. Totally missed this. 29 pages of responses is hard to keep up with all of them. Thanks for the update.
  3. what do you mean. He was there. He did conditioning tests.
  4. Did we sign any of the tryouts? Usually a couple get signed.
  5. I have been waiting for pictures. Wanted to see our boys for the first time in their actual uniforms doing football things. I found it kind of ironic that the first pictures of a Quarterback throwing a football in a new Commanders uniform was going to be Sam Howell and not Carson Wentz. They are doing OTA's but those aren't padded and looks like everyone is just wearing the old generic burgundy jersey with a white number. I want to see guys in those new W helmets, and everything.
  6. Apparently Decalon Brooks LB is the son of Derrick Brooks. Fantastic LB with the Buccs. Hope he has some of his father in him.
  7. We also invited Trey Gross WR Deleware State for a tryout.
  8. Navy CB Michael McMorris has been given a rookie camp try out invitation. I can't get the article, I don't have a subscription, but it is posted in the Capital Gazette. EDIT - Found a different article by Navy Sports confirming. https://navysports.com/news/2022/5/4/football-michael-mcmorris-invited-to-rookie-free-agent-camp-by-the-washington-commanders.aspx
  9. Dude is a 6 year vet. This isn't an UDFA signing. We lost a Kick Returner in DeAndre Carter. This guys is a decent return guy. So this is a real free agent signing. He has basically been the starting returner for the Bengals for 5 years and last year with the Panthers. He may actually be more accomplished than DeAndre was when we signed him. Erickson had close to 3500 return yards, Carter had less than 1600. He is an ex Panthers who actually doesn't have a tie to Ron.
  10. Wait, didn't it say, the John Kiem Podcast reported no more signings for a couple weeks, and then John Kiem reports they signed Erickson?
  11. Hey did anyone see that we picked up Stephen Davis Jr? Yes that Stephen Davis. I am friends with Mr. Davis on Facebook, and he posted to his son, proud of you, all you need is a chance, what you do with it is up to you. HTTC and it was a picture of his kid and the W logo.
  12. I seem to remember that when we drafted Terry McClaurin, there were a lot of pundits who said we should have taken Myles Boykin. Taller etc. See how that turned out. Give Jahan Dotson a chance. I agree with Burgundy Blog, my guess is we go Jaquan Brister S with our 2nd rounder.
  13. All anyone does it talk about the good ole days, so here we are. We have the 2022 version of the smurfs. Terry McClaurin, Curtis Samuel, Jahan Dotson, and Dyami Brown. Maybe they will be as good as Art Monk, Charlie Brown, Alvin Garrett and Virgil Seay, or maybe they become like the greatest show on turf. When the Rams had Torry Holt (1st round pick), Isaac Bruce (2nd) , Az Zahir Hakim(4th), and Ricky Proehl (3rd). All of them were 6' or less. They did all right. McLaurin (3rd), Samuel (2nd), Dotson (1st), Brown (3rd). Draft status is only for contract negotiation. Desean Jackson, 2nd round pick. If someone had picked Desean in the first, everyone would have cried like they do now, and then he went on to be spectacular. Would have been well worth a 1st, even a high first. Heck top 5 and it still would have been warranted. But that got proven out over time.
  14. LOL. Wouldn't that be something if we traded back with the Cowboys, took some of their picks and turned them into blue chip players. And they blew whomever they wanted to pick. LOL. Please let that happen.
  15. I guess everyone hated Kurt Warner too. All the way to a Super Bowl. This was made by Irsay, everyone knows, it isn't a very well kept secret.
  16. LOL. Irsay has basically done everything he could to mess up the team. The got rid of Wentz for two reasons. He didn't get vaccinated, and those last two games. Wasn't because of he was so bad, they didn't believe he was a leader, because he didn't get vaccinated. And Irsay particularly, thought that it effected the team. That others chose not to get vaccinated because if Wentz doesn't have to, then I don't either. You are seeing now, that Frank Reich is saying Carson is like my brother, I love him, he is a great person, Irsay the moral high ground on leadership, and example setting. Just read this from his Wiki Page. "On March 16, 2014, Irsay was arrested under suspicion of DUI and drug possession in Carmel, Indiana.[9][10] According to The Indianapolis Star sports columnist Bob Kravitz, Irsay had an ongoing drug problem.[11] This was highlighted when it was later revealed that Irsay's mistress, Kimberly Wundrum, had overdosed and died in a house that Irsay controversially purchased with money belonging to the Indianapolis Colts.[12][13]" So forgive me if I don't take a single word that guys says as anything close to facts. He made a knee jerk reaction like he always does. He basically ruined that team. He fired the greatest GM in the history of the NFL in Bill Polian. And he has struggled ever since. Had the greatest QB prospect in Andrew Luck of the last 20 years, and as the defacto GM since he fired Polian, he didn't do a thing to protect him and got him killed and lost him. Irsay made the move. And Ballard and Reich are trying to be company men. Reich says I love Carson, he's a brother to me, he is great. He can be great. But ummm it was unanimous to get rid of him. It wasn't no one wanted it but Irsay, and he got what he wanted. Everyone talks about Snyder around here. Well Irsay is the Colts Snyder. Thinks he is a genius and over rules his football people.
  17. Commanders just officially announced Carson Wentz trade. Like I said, 4 PM was the deadline now the official announcements start happening.
  18. They are not supposed to talk about anything until 4 PM today. All the news reported is not official until they submit paperwork to the league after 4 PM today, when the new league year started. We rarely talk about anyone until it's "official" and see what happened to the Bills and Cowboys. They start announcing things before they are official and people back out. I bet there is an announcement later today or tomorrow, followed by a press conference next week for Carson Wentz.
  19. Makes me think a signing is imminent. They don't make cap space unless they want cap space. They would have cut him prior to the start of free agency if they just wanted to get rid of him outright.
  20. I don't get it. Why is everyone so upset. The reality is our beloved team is not a preferred destination. Aaron Rodgers was never coming here. Russell Wilson told you he didn't want to be here. We offered Seattle more and Wilson wouldn't waive his no trade clause for us. He didn't want to come here. Derek Carr isn't going anywhere. Jimmy Garapolo just had surgery on his throwing shoulder, so not many people are going to blindly trade for him. You don't know if he can throw again by camp. Then you have free agency. Winston, Mariota, Trubisky, and maybe another one or two guys. All of whom are going to be sought after. You have the Seahawks, Steelers, Panthers, Giants, Texans, and Saints. Not to mention maybe the Lions are not enamored with Goff and the Texans will need someone once the Deshaun Watson legal issues play out. He won't play for them again. So with a choice of 5 possible quarterbacks, and a possible 8 teams in the mix what do you think the chances of us coming away with the someone? Tell me whom exactly were we supposed to go and get that is better than Wentz? No one is going to come here with teams like the Saints Steelers and Seahawks looking. Regular Playoff teams. So we needed to trade for someone who didn't have a choice. Rodgers again no. Wilson said no. Carr isn't available, and Jimmy G had surgery. People think Kirk Cousins is available. Obviously he wouldn't want to come back here. Tell me who you think we were going to get? All the couch fans say sign Winston or Trubisky or whatever. What makes you think they will come here? This quarterback carousel is musical chairs and the music is about to stop. And we didn't want to be left without a chair. Remember we were all in on Amari Cooper and he just used us for leverage and went back to the Cowboys for less money. Our front office did a solid job. Two 3rd rounders, one being conditional to a 2nd if he plays 70%. We also swap 2nd round picks and we get back a 7th. There is no guaranteed money on this deal. So if they hate him they can get out of it next year with no cap issues. If he is decent, then you have a qb for 3 years at a bargain price. There was no other move to make really at this time. Carson Wentz has been a starting qb in the NFL for 6 years. NFL network reported, there was competition. Other teams were bidding on him. So while the compensation isn't bad, we had to get him. So we did what needed to be done. We didn't offer 3 firsts like Russell Wilson, because his value wasn't that high. But he has value. Plus he is the best QB to be here since Kirk and maybe better than Kirk who I don't care for. No one is saying this is a home run. We aren't dancing in the streets like Denver is. It isn't a home run but it is solid double. We are on base in scoring position. Yes he has flaws, and issues and isn't perfect. But every criticism of Wentz can be said of Winston, Trubisky, and Garapolo. Has talent, isn't consistent. Looks great at times looks bad at times. etc. etc. etc. Wentz actually has the most talent of all of them. Physical freak who has a cannon arm. The one thing intangible is that Wentz knows this is probably his last shot at being a starter in the NFL. So a desperate QB is now on a desperate football team. Worst things have happened. And anyone who thinks that Heinicke is better then Wentz please just don't reply. There is not talking to you anyway. And, we can still draft a qb if we want to. Doesn't have to be in the first round. Maybe try to Carson Strong in the 2nd, or someone else. Let them grow and learn and not be thrown into starting for a desperate team.
  21. It isn't about percentage. Hopkins misses a lot of clutch kicks. His percentage may be good, but you can go down the list of kicks he has missed at crucial times. He missed the kick in England and we get a tie. 34 yard attempt wide left. Whenever we need a big field goal or momentum shift, he blows it. Consistently. He reminds me of Rafeal Palmero when he was an Oriole. He would put up 100 RBI's and 30-40 HR's each year, but none of them were game changing plays. He would get HR's in either blow out wins or blow out losses, non of his hitting was timely, and that is the issue with Hopkins. You don't trust him to make the big kick. And that is what matters. Ron went for a 4th and 10 because he didn't want to try a 55 yard FG because he lost faith. And now you are impacting the coaching decisions.
  22. Davis Webb. I like him, but we aren't signing to the active roster so you can't poach a PS to a PS. Which is why we got Shurmur.
  23. So the reason for this is if they put Forrest on IR before cut day he can't play this year. They had to keep him for one day, and then now he only has to be on for a few weeks and can be recalled. They had to keep him in order to have the opportunity for him to play this year. Also, all the big name free agents left, wouldn't get signed yesterday because if you are on the roster day one as a vested veteran, your salary is guaranteed. Even if they cut you. If you are not, say you sign today, day two, it is like like normal you get cut you don't get paid anymore. That is why Cam Newton and some of the other guys don't get claimed, because you would be stuck with his salary all year. So if you bring them in and they aren't good, then you stuck paying upwards of a million dollars or more for someone you want to cut. It is the salary cap, NFLPA negotiated rules.
