  1. ^^ "At start of Trump event at NIH, infectious diseases expert Dr Fauci explaining to Trump how long it took to develop vaccines for past viruses versus where we are now with Coronavirus."

I used to tell clients who insisted system enhancements could be done quicker by adding more bodies to the project: You can't have a baby in 1 month by getting 9 women pregnant.

Apparently, the same message needs to be beaten into the White House Occupant's head.

  2. From above: "NEW: Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo announces that state's first presumptive case of Coronavirus during a press conference. The individual had recently traveled to Italy and had NOT returned to work since coming back, according to the RI Department of Health."

So, assuming a direct flight from Italy to Boston & then a drive to RI, this person probably had contact with 240-300 people on the flight (assuming a 787 jet). Plus crew so lets say 300 people total. Probably came into contact with 50-100 people going through customs, baggage claim, etc. in Logan. So now we're talking 400 people. Maybe went shopping upon return to RI. So maybe another 50-100 people. Now we're at 500 people. Now multiply that by the number of people the 500 people came in contact with over the past 2 days (assuming the original flight arrived back home on Friday). Easily 50k people potentially exposed in multiple states just from this 1 person.

And now the info that someone in NYC records  it's 1st case? Maybe the RI patient flew through LGA to BOS. The exposed just grew exponentially.

Let it play out. Trump's got this.  The coronavirus will effect his family. After all, they were just in India. Maybe they all got it, you never know.

We need reporters to start asking him questions playing into his germaphobia. Maybe get the whole reporter pool to start sneezing & coughing during his Q&A.

    His head would ****ing explode...

Right...I guess being an asshole has it's moments so you can tell your kids & they can be proud of you.

Oh yes, that sounds so rough.  I really don't know how you're able to go on.  You must have been scarred for life.

Trust me, it's rough. Especially when the 1st class seats are free (and the hotels, rental cars, food & drinks). Just help keep the peasants behind the curtain & don't try to drink my Dom Perignon.

I can’t stand people who recline their seats, especially when they do it while people are still boarding and getting situated. If airlines are going to cram in as many seats as they can with minimal clearance, they should lock the seats in the upright position. I’m an average height and build and a fully reclined seat touches my knees in economy class on some airlines, so I can’t imagine what it’s like for taller guys.

If you are a ****ing fatass or a tall person, and want more space, then stop being a cheap ass and pay for first or business class seats.  There are accommodations for you if you want them.  The weak ass entitlement mentality of our culture annoys the **** out of me.

And I've got pretty large shoulders and when I fly my shoulder is typically out into the aisle and people will bump into me sometimes when walking by.  But it's not a big deal and not worth me ponying up to fly the whole family first class.

    tr

The dude punching the seat is a huge douchebag and probably an even bigger ****.

So fly a different airline or pay more for first class.

I am just under 6' and built like a line backer and I fly Southwest all the time and have no issue (other than shoulder thing I mention above).  If someone reclines it's a bit tighter but it's not a ****ing big deal.

I used to fly every week for work. I am so ****ing glad I don't have to do that anymore. Even in 1st class of most domestic airlines the legroom is atrocious when somebody pushes the seat back. One time on a vacation trip to Jamaica my wife & I were sitting in 1st class. The people in front of us both pushed their seats all the way back. We were unable to put down our tray table to put a drink/food on it. We had to tell the flight attendant to get the people to raise their seats. Once the meal was finished both people pushed the seats back all of the way. It was like their heads were resting in our laps. ****ing ridiculous.

The airlines are to blame for this. The seat space is abysmal & not built for 21st century sized people.

Oh...and sitting on the aisle (for more space) is horrendous when the dumb asses with backpacks walk down the aisle when boarding. Do they NOT ****ing realize when the turn their body their over sized backpack will smack me right in the cranium? Seriously, when did a ****ing backpack become a briefcase? Keep your stupid insulated cup at home, dumbass. And WTF else have you jammed in there that couldn't fit in a computer bag?

Or the dumb****s that HAVE to use my headrest to sit their asses down - or pull their asses up. That's my ****ing seat not yours, FFS.

I could go on - 30 years of weekly travel I'm surprised I didn't kill some people along the way...

People forget that Robles was actually a higher touted prospect than Soto. If he ever gets his bat going, with his already Gold Glove caliber glove...look out.

...and Robles was coming off a pretty significant elbow/wrist injury before last year started. He missed most of the 2018 season with that injury (hurt in April, 2018 not sure when he returned). You could see the rust at the beginning of last year. He only got better at the plate, on the bases & in the field during the season. I'm really looking forward to a healthy Robles this year.

Beaning the batters isn't a punishment.  Their players sullied the sport.  They need to receive a real punishment to deter future cheating.  Bregman and Altuve and everyone else who participated need to be suspended the same as players who get caught using PEDs.  The commissioner's decision not to punish the players who did the cheating was chicken **** and just invited more cheating.

I agree. With the new story that Tony Kemp refused to join the sign stealing scam when he was called up in September 2017, it's obvious MLB did a ****ty job investigating this. MLB didn't need the players involved cooperation to figure out the cheating scam. There were plenty of players not involved that could provide information that the scheme had actually occurred. Once the players involved were identified, they should have been given 2 options: Cooperate & get a 1 year suspension; Don't cooperate & receive a lifetime ban.

The Astros ****ed with the integrity of the game. That, to me, is the worst thing you can do as a player or organization. HOU fired the people who let it happen. MLB did nothing to the players who actually did the cheating. Manfred needs to resign.

  8. North Korea Secret Coronavirus Crisis

SEOUL–North Korea’s not saying a word about deaths or illnesses from the coronavirus, but the disease reportedly has spread across the border from China and is taking a toll in a country with a dismal health care system and scant resources for fighting off the deadly bug.

One sure sign of the regime’s fears is that it failed to stage a parade in central Pyongyang on Saturday, the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the country’s armed forces. Last year, Kim Jong Un himself presided over the procession that displayed the North’s latest missiles and other fearsome hardware along with goose-stepping soldiers in serried ranks.

This year, nothing about the nation’s nuclear warheads, much less the “new strategic weapon” that Kim has vowed to unveil. Rodong Sinmum, the newspaper of the ruling Workers’ Party, merely cited the armed forces’ supposed success combating “severe and dangerous difficulties”—and said nothing at all about the parade.

But reports have filtered out about Kim’s subjects falling prey to coronavirus despite the country’s decision to seal its 880-mile border with China, most of it along the Yalu River into the Yellow Sea to the west, and its 11-mile border with Russia where the Tumen River flows into the Pacific.

Among the first to report fatalities in North Korea, the Seoul-based website Daily NK said five people had died in the critical northwestern city of Sinuiju, on the Yalu River across road and rail bridges from Dandong, which is the largest Chinese city in the region and a key point for commerce with North Korea despite sanctions.

Daily NK, which relies on sources inside North Korea that send reports via Chinese mobile phone networks to contacts in China, said authorities had “ordered public health officials in Sinuiju to quickly dispose of the bodies and keep the deaths secret from the public.”

The victims had crossed the porous Yalu River border despite orders to cut off traffic from China as the disease radiated from the industrial city of Wuhan where the virus originated in December. As of Sunday, more than 700 people had died inside China.

One of the first patients in North Korea reportedly was hospitalized in Sinuiju “with symptoms similar to a cold and was given fever reducers and antibiotics,” said Daily NK, but the patient died as the fever rose.  Two more patients died two days later in another hospital in Sinuiju and another two in a nearby town.
