  1. There's obviously a disconnect to how some teams/media/fans around the league look at Sam compared to opposing fans, media and some differing teams look at him. Yes, if you look at the stats and then watch the Jets games or cut ups it could be easy to deduce he's trash. It would be easy to point to the stats being similar to Haskins and saying what is the difference. That all happens when you view it in a vacuum one way or another. There's always another way. One can even watch whole Jets games start to finish say he's the reason they're trash and keep it moving. That person could be absolutely correct in the long run looking back or missing the mark. I know Jets fans that can't wait to get rid of him and then some that genuinely believe in him in the Saleh/Lafleur setup. It's easy to say Flacco ran the Gase offense better in general. Flacco is a vet, that is what he is. He's molded clay, plug and play. Sam was a piece of clay meant to be molded by Gase and the organization and wasn't. The lack of talent around them only exacerbates that issue. Flacco would look better than he was last season as a Jet as well if the talent was better as well it's not an either or situation. Then there's the Burrow played well in Cincy with lacking talent, which is a 100% truth. He looked great pre injury. The response to that would be look at what type of QB Burrow was pre Joe Brady. He was a mid round pick at best before getting that development from Brady. Brady coached him one year and he made an unbelievable leap. Baker's career looked like it was headed for a nosedive, even early this season under Stefanski he looked shaky before hitting his stride. Development matters. SD's career in terms of development has been in the hands of Clay Helton (don't get me started on him), Jeremy Bates ( who hasn't had a job since) and Adam Gase. Especially when it's someone who's coachable and receptive to it. Tannehill's run with Gase gets brought up as a counter as well. Yes, Tannehill wasn't absolutely trash with Gase but his two highest Int% marks were under Gase 3.3 and 3.1. QB rating plateaued under Gase. QBR plateaued as well. All the aforementioned stats improved in Tennessee, which says something about being under Gase. Also Tannehill was 28 in Year 5 when Gase came to Miami. A base development at the NFL level was already there and Gase still almost derailed his career. What do you think that could do to a year 2&3 22 and 23 YO in that system + development? Some NFL teams/coaches see a guy who went 24/35 for 341 3 TD's 0 Int's vs Green Bay in a back & forth tilt with Rodgers as rookie, also as a rookie 24/38 for 253 2TD's 0Int's vs Hou who was the #5 scoring defense that season. The 3rd highest QB rating of this season vs the Rams' # 1 defense? SD Those looking from that vantage are of the belief that there's something salvageable in the right situation under the right tutelage. The bad tape is bade tape, but they feel that they can right the ship and build consistancy in little highs . Sam can very well just flop at the next stop and be the bust everyone has him as. Or some in the league who still hold him in high regard can be right. And for the record he's not my hope for here WFT, I'm Pro sign Dak or trade up if Fields,Wilson or Lance is in a reachable spot. Just a lil dose of the opposing viewpoint amongst the he's just garbage take 😁
  2. I’m the furthest thing from an insider. But from following USC football for years you get nuggets off the record from people who hear things. During the season a guy who’s plugged in with former players there said he learned from a USC source that supposedly SD had some people who are currently at WFT now that thought highly of him coming out + now. The timeframe of this statement was before the Jets beat the Rams. When the Jets were looked at as locks to be picking #1. This came up when asking where would Sam’s next stop could be and the potential interested teams. I didn’t bring the info here then because while I know that the source is legit all things USC directly. It wasn’t directly from WFT’s side but from SC’s. Fast forward to now when guys like Keim, Russell and JP allude to it maybe being actual interest and since they have actual WFT sources it holds more weight now. If I had to guess, and this is a total guess I’d assume Scott T and Ken Z are the fans. Just going off of last season where coordinators and position coaches went to bat for guys and they were brought in (LThomas, McKissic, AG in the draft). As well as this info was pre Mayhew and Hurney being hired so it wasn’t them at the time. However, after hearing JLC say that Kyle Shanahan is interested I wonder if Mayhew was too since he was there prior as the pro scout? Now where he ranks as option a, b, c, d, e etc. here I don’t know. Just that the initial info seems to have legs.
  3. Kirk going to SF would be great for us. I would then peg Jimmy G to NE. Knocks out 2 QB teams in front of us in draft and takes a Watson suitor in SF out of the picture. If we decided to go that route.
  4. I believe some of it with Gruden is ego. He was one of the original offensive gurus his first run in Oakland. Since then between Tampa and Oak/LV 2.0 he hasn’t been lauded on that side of the ball. He probably looks at young guys like McVay & Kyle, even Andy Reid a contemporary get all the pub and feels he’s better or as good. & it’s the QB’s who are holding his “genius” back. I can be off but that’s just the sense I get.
  5. Whoever we target next won’t come until draft day vet OR rookie, unless Dak hits the market imo. Gonna suck going into FA with a question mark at the position but it is what it is.
  6. That Rams leak seems to be a Lions leverage play imo. Especially if the Niners think a deal is close while trying to holdout #12 pick. Combos of 2's and 3's can be done by many teams. Stafford going to a divisional rival can up the ante.
  7. Not necessarily, Fotenot is a great evaluator in his own right. So we won’t know who was the focal point of what down there.
  8. The Stafford not winning playoff games/winning division narrative needs context. Our defense gave up 329 points this season, in Stafford’s career the Lions only gave up less points once. They went 11-5 that particular season and that’s the year Dallas won after a questionable flag. And we all feel the defense is just scratching the surface. Not to mention Detroit went 4 complete seasons without an 100 yd rusher that 2014 season included. In comparison Gibby had 2 100 yard outings in a five game span this season
  9. If Stafford has a choice. NFCE easier division, NFC more open conference. AFC loaded with other great QB’s and they’re young & still ascending.
