It cost more than the 26th pick in 2019 to draft Sweat. Traded up with Indianapolis to get him.

That was my thinking, but they're not wrong. At the end of the day it was pick 26.

You got production at the position for 4.5 years and you get back close to the original price, aka draft pick.

We basically got what we spent on him, if we were a superbowl contender sure keep him around. Otherwise? We got what we spent on him back. That's awesome.

Chase young is more just cutting of some fingers to save the hand. Not awesome but understandable

    I mean.... it's only one 2nd rounder.

Still, it is only slightly below the fair market value  (~late 1st Rnd).

He played well while he was here and had some great moments. One of the guys who doesn't show up for OTAs, so it seemed inevitable.

But Toohill is a guy I like at LE and want to see what they got before he hits free agency.

Yep. But are we 100% sure that wasn't cover 2? I agree it looked like Danny's man but lets not be swayed by a commentator speculating what Jack "30 Points Allowed or Bust" Del Rio asked Danny to do on that play.  Like PFF making their grades, they are assuming they know all the assignments. Coverages get masked and its not always obvious.

Regardless we have seen for decades DBs blow coverages throwing their arms up in the air in frustration. Overloading the plates of our DBs seems a JDR special.

Low chance that is cover 2 by the looks of it. Wasn't Curl the safety on that side? Cover-1 man.

    Bad mistake.

Random stat I found. I didnt know we had BSJ playing slot.

Danny Johnson has been stellar in slot coverage for Washington since taking over for Benjamin St. Juste, allowing only a 40% catch rate and 61.3 passer rating (per PFF)

Blew the coverage for the wide open TD though.

It’s coaching. Don’t be surprised if he’s plays much better next season in a scheme that allows him to do want he does best (zone, off man).

What he's saying there is that Forbes needs the 1-on-1 work to get him to understand what it takes to play the positon. The study and work.

That is coaching, bit that is also a case of the player without the right approach to playing in the NFL. Dude doesn't get what it takes yet.

  6. Dotson hasn't become a top tier receiver, so I think you most certainly have to keep Terry.

They need to be feeding Terry more. 10 reception 100+ yard type games. There are quarters and half's where they figure it out, but he should be the focal point.

Sweat seems like the most likely to be moved at the deadline. He has a lot to offer and I can't see how a 2nd rounder is unreasonable for his talent.

    Chase will be franchised.

CRod is the starting back. I don't care about draft status and perspective and history and whatever. he's the better back.

Yeah....the Gibson and Robinson picks are wasted draft capital. I miss the Shanahan days....give us a day 3 RB.

I think most of us have seen good vision > physical attributes.

Both players that shouldn't be starting next year.

    Throw them on IR.

  8. Good games were there:

    Terry

    Payne

    Logan

Chase (one of his best games)

    Tress Way

    Crowder

    Rodriguez

    Stromberg

    But the bad.....

They have to do something with the O-line. Only good players are Leno and Cosmi. Played better once Stromberg went in for Charles.

    Leno - Wylie - Stromberg - Cosmi - Lucas

And run a ton more with Rodriguez, aka the back with good vision.

The question is compensation.  What do you get for a DE on an expiring contract for a 10 game rental?

Is a 4th worth it?  Would they get a 4th?  5th?  I doubt you would take anything less than a 5th.

The expiring nature of the contract and the 10 game rental vastly decrease the trade value. Though I think the receiving team inherits the right to franchise either one.

If take a 4th and run to the bank for Sweat.

Young, I dunno.  I think it would have to be more.  He’s returning to form and I think at the very least they franchise him in the off-season.

I just find it hard to believe the value is there for a 3rd rounder or better.  But if it is, I’d jump on it.

Sweat has graded out pretty strong for a couple of years now and has stayed on the field.

If you can get him for a second rounder, he probably will do better over the next 5-7 years compared to using a first rounder on a DE.

If they can't get a second - and it is hard to move capi $ midseason - I think you go with the tag and trade. Can you do the transition tag and franchise tag still?

  10. MLB is still the most probable first round pick to me. You'll lose a first round talent at end, so it does offset the talent loss.

Probably drafting in the late teens or early 20s, so there's a chance at the top ILB on the board: Gray or Trotter Jr. I have yet to look at the class, but looking forward to it.

The only other options are OT or DE.

Leno probably gets another year with Daniels as an unknown. Looking like 2025 1st round pick.

Figure they will want to keep the last DL spot inexpensive, so day 2 pick more probable.

Keim likes to say the coaching staff sees Toohill as one of their better run stoppers on the D line.  But don't like him as much as a pass rusher. PFF scores seem to back that up even though yesterday he had his sacks.

Yeah, Toohill is a good fit as a run-stopping LE and almost assuredly the 2024 starter.

Whoever they keep at DE between Young and Sweat will play RE. They'll see what they have for subs with Jones Jr and Henry + a '24 pick.
