My point is that Chicago is in the perfect position to play NE and Was off each other (especially if the consensus is that there is some distance between Daniels and Williams/Maye.

I don’t think a simple price of a second rounder gets it done.

All that said, my money would be on Chicago drafting Williams.

Teams don't always want the same guy, and teams further down have to offer the world, which rarely happens. There is a history of bad trades (RG3) to remind them and recent examples (Panthers) of the dangers of giving up a ton.

Look at the Eagles with Jalen. That could be the Bears. They won some games with him once he returned from injury.

They have drafted well under the current regime, so they can really upgrade the team these next 1-2 drafts and then mortgage the future for a top QB if needed via draft or trade.

    Optimizes value of current assets.

Keep it going until we’ve traded with the Bears for #1

    This right here.

Most realistic outcome imo. Give up the top 2nd rounder. Not a steep price, at all.

Bears can collect the 2nd rounder, and then get a future 1st+ to trade down with a team looking for a QB.

Sets them up with two 1sts and two 2nd in 2025, if Fields isn't the guy for the short-term. Chicago has always got a running style, play-action team. I think it could work.

He'd be awesome.  He's a great player.  He's my favorite player in the draft.  But just like having Trent, Sean Taylor, Portis, S. Moss, etc stars get lost in the sauce without having that QB.  Arguably the most talented WR of all time, Calvin Johnson, megatron, didn't change the fortune of the Lions.  He ultimately retired in part because the Lions just didn't win.

Some say get the other stuff first and then find that QB.  The challenge for that is the other stuff is easier to find.   Get the QB when you got a chance. This team is rarely in position to shop at the Tiffany's line of the QB aisle.  We are at it now, to skip it and just assume we will back there at the right time or find a diamond in the rough is a big assumption -- the last 30 some odd years shows the odds are against us that we will find the QB when the time is "right".

    https://www.sportskeeda.com/nfl/why-calvin-johnson-retire

Between 2007 and 2015, Calvin Johnson was among the top receivers in the NFL. He was one of the Detroit Lions' most reliable players in team history. He provided them with the spectacular playmaking presence they have missed since Barry Sanders left the team.

Johnson said that his decision to leave the NFL after nine years was influenced by the team's inability to challenge for honors.

Ok, but we know the Lions were regarded as one of worst drafting teams. Millen has a brutal record. Stafford and Calvin lifted up the Lions for years.

I have a hard time with those comparisons where the players were elite and the FO failed to be even average. Barry Sanders famously.

Listening to Logan Paulsen who watched the All 22, loves Quan Martin.  He thinks he's coming on strong as the season progresses.  All over the field, plays with passion.

Did he say whether he is a FS?

I haven't watched the last couple of games.

If we had lost to the Patriots, we would hold the 2nd pick right now with a not unrealistic chance at the first overall pick. But we always win just enough to not suck bad enough for something like that to happen. Which is why we will win at least one more game (likely Jets, they somehow seem to be worse than us) and will play ourselves out of the top 5.

This team has no fight left. Top 5 is assured

I hope Stromberg can become a contributor but I would absolutely bring in strong competition for him, whether it be FA or the draft.

I think you draft a C in Round 5-6 with the potential for starting. Chase Roullier style. I think there may be a handful this year to choose from.

Do the same thing next year, and if one of those Day 3 guys becomes the starting C then you slide Stromberg over to LG.

You draft your OTs high in Day 1-2, but use day 3 for the interior - maybe day 2 for RG.

  7. I'm not concerned about RT. Having two early 2nds solves that with a competent scouting department.

Hopefully that is true for MLB if they keep the other 2nd rounder, but I think I would rather spend big bucks in FA. So tired of it being a weak point.

Trade back half a dozen place for an extra second rounder, we’ll then have 3 picks in the top 10 or so slots of the second rounds. That’s the scenario I’m preferring at the minute.

Would probably also get an extra 4th in that trade.

You don't trade out of the top 10.

Want to trade from pick 4-5 to 8-9? That might get you a future 1st in the deal, and if so maybe. Maybe that's worth it.

I feel like every time this happens I am arguing for keeping the pick and picking the elite tools.

    1) Most wanted to trade down a few picks rather than pick Trent who was a consensus reach and seen as a RT or G at the next level.

    2) Traded down for Kerrigan rather than pick Watt

    3) Olave vs Dotson (yes, they would have had to pick Howell earlier)

As high as you can get and then don't screw up. You need stars. Get your consensus All-Pro player.

The senior bowl 1v1s and combine are important filters for me. You watch the cut-ups, and then see the metrics, and go back to the video.

Identifying the top 2 QBs in each class is incredibly important, but then it should be pretty easy to see who the top 3 players are on each side of the ball. That's the beauty of the top 10. You really shouldn't mess it up because the laymen wouldn't.

How bad of an idea is it to go into next season with two rookies at tackle? Say we get Alt with our first pick and then either trade up and get a RT in the back half of the first or get one with the Bears pick in the second. Then, if we get either the Lions or Seahawks OCs as HC, bring in one of their guards in FA Jonah Jackson/Damion Lewis.

Starting line of Alt, Jackson, Stromberg, Cosmi, Morgan/Paul/etc.

    I don't see it happening.

They probably won't cut Wiley until after next year, so he might move to LG. Gates is a huge dead cap too, so unfortunately he stays too.

    Leno - Wiley - Ricky/Day 2 - Cosmi - Top 40 pick for RT

    Lucas - Day 2 OL - Daniels - Day 3 C/G - Gates

Hence why I think they should trade up for a RT rather than wait. Might even get a LT there. And, if you an keep one of the early 2nds you could grab your starting RT too.

Get a playmaker with the top 7 pick.

Trade back into the 1st round for a LT.

Draft a starting RT in the 2nd round.

That's 3 players, and they have 5 of the top 100. But they're stuck with a few players for another year, namely Wiley and Gates.

I don't think DJax even took over games.  He'd only have 3-4 catches a game, they'd just be explosive plays.  He was never a high volume kinda guy.  Moss might be the closest we had.  But frankly, that's a stretch.  We've had some nice receivers, but I don't think we've ever had that unstoppable guy that would dominate DBs on a weekly basis.  We also haven't had the QB to take advantage of such a guy if we did have him.

If that is your argument for DeSean, then Moss was the same thing. Every once in a while he could change a game with a couple of catches, famously the Comeback versus the Cowboys.

Getting a big physical WR has never been so important with how the league has transitioned.

Likely 'settling' for Bowers after Harrison goes 3 or 4OA.

With 3 picks in the top 39 I'd love to see us look to turning that into 4 picks in the 1st two round this year and adding a 1st or 2nd rounder next year as well. We could do what Detroit did this past draft and add impact players on both sides of the ball. This is gonna be an exciting offseason as soon as the final game is over all the way thru the draft. New GM, head coach, 90 mil in free agency to spend and three picks in the first 2 rounds, 5 in the first three. We have a LOT to look forward to compared to the **** show we've been. Josh Harris needs to nail the GM position and then the head coach.....**** the popcorn, get your pizza and beers ready.

I'm not a fan of trading down.

Maybe 1/20 drafts are bad enough that you won't get one of your 5 best players with a top 5 pick, provided you make the correct decision.

Would I be opposed to trading down within the top 10? Not necessarily as this draft is probably strong enough at the top...but this could be the Kerrigan/Watt dilemma all over again. Quality > Quantity.

Witherspoon went 5th overall last year and was the best player on that Seahawks D when they played this team.

    Thibodeaux

    Ja'Mar Chase

    Tua/Herbert

    Devin White

    Bradley Chubb

If you aren't terrible, you can find an All-Pro.

  12. I don't see it happening, but I would love to see EB take over and they get stomped in the games against weak teams post bye week. Show me who still shines in the garbage, besides Tress Way.

Full clean-out of the staff is the acceptable outcome, so I would like to see strong individual performance among the losses.

Always pumped for a top 5 pick. Hopefully they don't screw it up this time, because you should get an All-Pro with that pick(aka Bowers).

  13. I'm happy to be in the 5-10 range to take out the urge to draft the second ranked QB and get a weapon for Sam.

Two top picks in the 2nd round are so interesting and impacts the first pick.

    1. You can trade both 2nds to get into the mid-late teens to draft a WR or LT.
    2. Trade the WSH 2nd and 3rd for late 1st Rnd to draft a G/T or WR
    3. Draft OT with CHI 2nd and OG with WAS 2nd
    4. Draft WR and MLB

My ideal 2nd round is a starting G/T and starting MLB. Gives you the option to go RB/WR and IOL for the 3rd round.

Need to come away with 3 starters (and 1 star) with those top 40 picks and I would rather trade up with one of the 2nds than down.

Eventually, inaction from Harris may lead to players losing confidence in him. Its growing to be more than lack of confidence in Ron at this point.  Harris was the cavalry we all reveled here to save the day. That starts with cleaning house.  The house is dirty af with snyders crap still smeared all over the place.

If Ron isn't fired by this weekend Harris has completely punted on the entire season, other than trading away 2 soon to be overpaid players.  I get it, many say can't just willy nilly name a coach. But you can willy nilly just ****ing do it and name an assistant interim thats probably going to get axed anyways. Lets hand the keys to Ernie Zampese and just ****ing deal with it. Stop terrible coaches one foot out the door from creating any more dysfunction.

"It's time for someone to put their foot down, and that foot is me. " - Josh Harris, 25th November 1963.

I honestly think you could go either path and it would be okay.

Either you keep Ron's crew through the rest of the season and give yourself more time to evaluate what your next steps are, particularly if you feel that the options are outside of the building. If you know that the head coach that you're going to have is in a different organization, and he will bring in his own people, you don't need to give EB a look as a head coach.

But letting go of a coach is a great tool to assess the players. They would still be some games left to play and you can see who progresses and steps up knowing that there is an organizational shift and they are playing for future bosses.

And at the same time, you may have a better impression of who is working best by keeping the existing staff and seeing who continues to work to the end knowing it is all for naught.

If only we could somehow get a top 3 pick. I think 4th might be our ceiling though. I think top 3 is a lock to be some combo of Bears(since they have the Panthers pick), Patriots, and Cardinals. Although the Bears and Cards are playing much better now and might steal some wins.

But top 3 guarantees us either one of the top two QBs or Harrison jr. THAT would be a coup.

I'd rather 4 and hope Harrison drops.

Even if Howell isn't the guy, I think you build through this draft and circle back in 2 years if needed when there is the next window to blow it up.

  16. You're not going to be able to run across the field with receivers, so these guys need to learn how to pass off. All the best defenses do it. They do need to change from JDR, however these players need to get better. St Juste is definitely on that list.

  17. You can't fault the defense for the performance today. Six turnovers is absolutely ridiculous, and I'm shocked they didn't give up more points.

Again this is a situation where the Giants Martindale is better than EB. This team has been brutal about putting the ball on the ground, particularly the running backs. Just too many instances of giving the opposing team a short field.

I thought the front 6/7 played one of their better games. Both Allen and Payne were collapsing the pocket, KJ Henry looks to be contributing, and Jamin working downhill was great to see.

  18. I love the prospect of a top 10 pick and the ability to go playmaker or OT.

Get in the top 7 and I think you could get Bowers who is an x factor. Bowers fits the mould of a prototypical modern TE.

Then follow up with OL and MLB on Day 2. I love the idea of getting the second or third best lineman, but give me a top 2-3 playmaker instead.
