Why the eff didn't Rivera kick the FG instead of punt at the end? No mercy! What if the end of our season comes down to having to win the final game to get into the playoffs because we lose the tie-breaker with the last wildcard team on point differential because they would have a better point differential than us so long as they lose their final game or win it by less than 36 points (and they win it by 36 points), and then we lose the final game? You think that's farfetched? That's 1979. You will never know a more agonizing feeling than being 12 years old and suddenly realizing the season just ended like that. You have to spend the next 7 months, until training camp, being miserable.

Seriously, I can get playing basketball and baseball with no heart, but football? Every kid LOVES playing football over at the playground until it starts to hurt and consequences are real. How can college draft evaluators not see if a player loves or doesn't love football? That's gotta be the most important stat of all. If it ain't there, nothing else matters. If it's there, it's a matter of sorting by the rest of the stats.

Man, with the guys that Washington has drafted like Matt Jones, that 2nd round S, Gibby, doCtson, etc., you could do the Wizard of Oz scene: "Where I come from, we have something called a functioning brain. About Gibby: I think he's likeable and we all like him, and his numbers remind me of when you cheated at making D&D characters, but man, the guy is just a drive killer. I've never seen someone embody the principle of the zero sum game like Antonio Gibson.

Say what you will, but these 4 things are the hallmarks of a truly competitive team. The reasons why this team isn't beating down Arizona comes down to circumstances, mistakes, occurrences, and other things that fall into 2 categories: 1) sometimes the ball just goes in a quirky direction and stuff happens; and 2) mistakes or specific things that can be worked on and eliminated/corrected. You either have a rocket and are fearless or you don't and you ain't, but you can fix fumbling. (Mark Rypien has entered the chat.)

Assuming you mean for the season, that would be exactly 3 per game. Assume we average 1 pt for PAT per TD = 21 pts/game off tuddies. Throw in a couple of FGs and that's averaging 27pts/game without including tuddies by defense and special teams. I'll take it.

Receivers should have a stat for yards by pass-related defensive penalty.

Just because the team sucks doesn't mean the game won't be any less physical. All the more reason not to play him -- if we really need to risk further *neck* injury to him to win, we shouldn't be guffawing on Arizona.
