You have to think though, that should Trump fail to secure a second term his replacement will hit the undo button on that as a priority. Unless it turns out to be an unparalleled success, of course. Might take some effort repairing relationships, but I'd think most parties would be willing to put an end to it all. Not such a chance if Brexit turns out to be a disaster, though.

There are believers in Brexit on both sides of the political spectrum, although it could be argued that the main driver has been the eurosceptic arm of the ruling conservative party. We don't really have a direct comparison to the GOP. The conservatives are the closest you'll get, but they don't push the Christian narrative, support for the right to bear arms etc. Politics is a slightly different beast in the UK. The belief of those who support leaving is that having full sovereignty with control over our own laws and borders in the long term is well worth the short term pain that will be caused upon leaving. They argue that none of the fearmongering about what would happen as a result has come true. The current narratives about a no-deal crash out from the EU are just another part of "Project Fear" as they describe it. Truth is, nothing much has changed because it hasn't happened yet and it won't until it does. We won't really know whether the right choice was made for some time yet and even then I suspect both sides will argue the success/failure by cherry picking their evidence to fit their own narrative. Is it worse then what you guys are going through? At the moment, I'd say possibly not since the full nature of what will happen is yet to be revealed. Doesn't mean it won't go that way. My guess is that there will be winners and losers and the biggest winners will be those who recognise the opportunities it brings and take advantage. But the mess we're experiencing now is, despite their denials, exactly the mess that leavers voted for. There never was a succession plan for the government to install a PM who believes in Brexit to begin with. None of the promises made were made by anybody with a mandate to do so, so we're stuck with a battle between the damage limitation mindset and the hard brexit mindset that won't accept any alignment with EU laws that might undermine what they consider to be complete control of our own.

Sounds like you may have had a few, so may not necessarily remember, but I'd be interested to hear if any stood out in particular for you. Glad to hear you're a fan of our beers. We're currently in a great erase for UK beer and choice is getting better than ever.

Probably a bit late for that. I'm not sure any of the realistically achievable options won't kill his career. Don't see him clowning his way out of this mess.

You're aware that Farage is unelected and his party holds just a single seat in parliament? He may have a loud voice, but it is a minority one and much of the country is opposed to him, irrespective of how they voted last week. His party, which is far further along the right wing than the existing Conservative government had more members of European parliament than UK parliament. Those MEPs were notorious for not turning up. Empowering Farage would be an even bigger disaster for Britain.

Never had it on tap before, but like it out of a bottle. I'm a big fan of the quads/dubbels/dark trappist style ales. My go-to is Rochefort 10, one of the finest beers going in my opinion. Not too hard to get hold of in the UK, fortunately.

If it don't squeeze the phrase "I rode across the desert on a horse with no name" onto the packaging, it ain't legit.I think my favourite of all the ironies in this idea is that a brand which fought in the courts to be called budweiser against a brand with a legitimate entitlement to the name now wants to brand itself "America".

In my uneducated days of youth, Sam Smith's meant dull pubs offering worryingly cheap imitation beers that I'd never heard of and dirty hangovers. Then one day, after I'd learnt how to enjoy beer and done some more research, I picked up a bottle each of their nut brown ale and imperial stout. Loved them both and currently have a bottle of the latter and one of Yorkshire Stingo in my collection. Let's just say nowadays I'd gladly enter one of their pubs over one of the countless generic pubs in London serving nothing but interchangeable lagers and bitters that taste like a farmer's trousers.

Hi Folks, Wanted some advice as I am coming over to watch the Bears game in October. As it's a short visit (Thursday-Monday), I should have plenty of room in my suitcase for stashing some craft beer to take back home. I'll be staying at Rosslyn Bridge in Arlington and wondered what I'd likely be able to find in the area, both in terms of where to buy and which breweries are likely to be stocked. In terms of US beers, I'm well familiar with Brooklyn & Sam Adams lagers, Goose Island's Honkers, IPA and 312 wheat, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Porter, Anchor Steam and Porter. I can quite easily get hold of these in the UK, so these aren't what I'm looking for. I appreciate Stone's Arrogant **** and Ruination, but Sierra Nevada's Torpedo took me the whole of the second half of a superbowl to get through and I didn't care much for it (which is a bad sign, as I'll drink almost anything once I've had a few). In general, I do like my beer how I like my women - dark and with a bit of body, but like most styles and drink according to circumstance, so I'd prefer to try a wider variety, including some of the seasonals (will Oktoberfests and pumpkins still be widely available in October?) Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
