  1. Reading this thread it seems like the site only grades a draft highly if you grade the players the same way they do.......and I don't agree with their grades/BPA all the time and plus their trade down machine is more then a bit off
  2. I wonder where the Wiz rank in back court size? If we keep both Wall and Beal the next coach better have a plan on how they are going to make that backcourt work both from an offensive standpoint and a defensive stand point. I wonder if Jerry Sloan still wants to coach?
  3. Hmmm...That's interesting/troubling to hear the way Beal is described not just by you but by Destino and Stills. A 2 Guard that can't consistently get his shot from an iso is troubling as is a 2 that doesn't have a clean handle. (not talking about dribbling to facilitate but dribbling to score, get to the basket/get your shot. The reason why I mention the shooting off screens b/c it is my belief/understanding that all shooters benefit from getting a clean look at the basket. And the best way sometimes the only way to get a open shot for your shooter in a half court set is to run him off screens. And I fully expect Beal to be out of rhythm. But, imo he's gonna have to get his attempts up before he finds that rhythm. And imo he won't play with confidence until he finds his rhythm/stroke as a shooter. Basically, I think Beal needs to be given the green light to shoot the ball without fear or admonishment from the coach. And I don't believe and I could be completely wrong basing it off the game I watched. But, I felt like Beal was playing with a choke collar on. And imo that's the wrong way to raise a 2 guard/scoring guard.
  4. I'm going to admit upfront that I've only watched 1 Wizards game from start to finish this season. I find them near unwatchable and I can't bear it.From the one game that I saw and I believe the stats bear this out (but maybe they don't) *shrugs* but they're needlessly putting Beal in handcuffs. Especially now that the season isn't going anywhere...fast. Why not develop one of your best players? The offense should be designed to get Beal open court isolation and catch and shoot off the ball screens.
  5. I rarely post in this thread and if there was a discussion about the game on Sat, I probably missed it. Anyway it was the first Wizards game I watched in its entirety since early last year. My humble thoughts/questions: - Is Wittman considered to be on the hotseat? - What was the rationale given behind BB playing such few minutes and not starting and not being on the court at the end of the game in the 4th qtr? -BB really does look 6'3 (why draft a 6'3 2G?) -Jan Vesely has some game, he's not a stiff but he's small -The coach is gonna need to tweak there line-up and offense to maximize these BB/Vesley imo -Seraphin has some decent size and he's working on a baby hook -Okafor...has he always been this soft?
  6. Willie Smith and Polumbus should rotate series at 1st string RT
  7. Didn't get to watch the game but did Wall play point the whole game? Was there ever a stretch where Crawford brought the ball up? or Was there a stretch where Wall was playing on a wing as opposed to the middle? Maybe comcast will reply the game tonight.
  8. Imo John Wall is handcuffed by this offense and this team. But he's too unselfish to just try to score, which imo is probably what he should do. A PG or any lead guard job is essentially to make the team better and help the team win. But sometimes the best thing for the team to help the team win is points. Imo Wall is the best scoring option on the team but he's too unselfish and the offense isn't structured that way.
  9. Nice win for the Wizz. Saunders made some coaching moves that worked. What he calls the defensive line-up should become the 'regular' line-up. At one point in the game I swore I heard Buck say that Tor had 119(ish) turnovers and the Wiz had 0? At some point I hope they try playing Wall off the ball more and spread the court out where he can try get his scoring going by taking his man to the hole. Defense? What a novel concept. Good win. I want to eventually be able to take my family to a Wiz games without making them sit through some bad bad basketball. If I look at the schedule closely I might be able to find a few games where that might happen this season. I wasn't sure about that til this game.
  10. If he's anything like Pop that's the type of coaching philosophy I could get behind.Having worked with Parker would only bode well for Wall, who imo shares a similar skillset / Tony. ---------- Post added January-8th-2012 at 06:48 PM ---------- C'mon man.I remember those Knicks teams and they were a mess. They were a mess before Brown and they were a mess after Brown. I mean Starbury is a crazy person. Oh no, I agree Brown would kick Blatche's tail or kick him off the team.I was trying to make a funny but I guess it got lost in translation. Hey bro we're all fans. We're all entitled to our opinions, you can think Brown is a bad fit for this team and not make him out to be a bad coach. BTW- What type of coach would you like and why? ---------- Post added January-8th-2012 at 06:47 PM ---------- Just shooting the breeze about the Wizards.
  11. Larry is no doubt a basketball nomad, but he usually sticks around to effect meaningful improvement. His only 1 and done stint was the Knicks, who were a dumster fire w/ Isiah Thomas as GM.
  12. I agree that there is a perception that Brown doesn't like foreign players. And there might be some truth to that, but I'm certain he's coached and had success with foreign players before. Brown is a hard nosed no BS basketball purist and he's probably gonna have a problem with any player that doesn't hustle, plays soft, doesn't play defense and take bad shots. Larry Brown would love Blatche. I've been watching basketball and every team this guy has a chance to coach gets better. He eventually wears them down and you might need to replace him after 3 years or so. But in those 3-4 years that team will get better.
  13. You mean when he took a young (the type of team he doesn't relate to right?) Bobcats team with limited talent from 35-47 then to 44-38 and into the playoffs the following season? Then after he gets canned they go back sub-.500 and out of the playoffs? I don't think ant reasonable basketball fan is really gonna blame Brown for the 1 year stint with the Knicks. Hell yeah, especially for a team that has a lead guard with limitless talent surrounding by a bunch of chuckleheads that don't understand the game and lack discipline. You're right, but I can dream.Maybe its my wishful thinking but I think John Wall is enough to make any coach think about giving this team a go IF they put a decent FO in place.
  14. Larry Brown is a crumudgeon. And I'm not gonna sit here and argue media perception. But its kinda far fetched to say he doesn't mesh well with young players since the NBA is filled with young players and he's had success virtually everywhere. You can think whatever you want. But, when it comes to situations like that I'll side with a coach like Browns over almost any NBA 'superstar'. Also, in the grand scheme of Larry Browns career do you really think only winning a Bronze with a relative bunch of directionless superstars is an indictment of his coaching abilities? Is every coach that didn't win Gold a bad coach? Is that the point you are trying to make? Larry Brown's coaching achievements overwhelmingly out number his failures that I don't even think I have to go into them or do I? I'm not going take anything away from Cassell to state that I think Larry Brown is a better coach then him for any type of team. My second choice after Brown would be Jerry Sloan.
  15. Why? I have no idea if Larry Brown does or doesn't want to coach again. But if he did who would be a better coach to turn a team around?
  16. I caught the tail when he was talking about the Vikings weapons and being back with Childress. While its plausible i can't believe any sane QB would walk away from Mike Shanahan to be led by Brad Childress.
  17. The Ravens have 4 QBs on their roster Flacco, Bulger and Troy Smith and John Beck I would rather have Troy Smith or John Beck then Rex Grossman
  18. I've kinda always thought this but Jason Campbell reminds me of Carson Palmer. both throw a pretty ball and have good arm strength and ball velocity and Marko Mitchell reminds me of Chris Henry Just a random thought
  19. No, i like the all burgandy jerseys also. I love preseason. Seriously. I love it. Its the only chance to see some of the younger players in action and get an idea of wether or not they can play. And i agree that some games can help give a basic idea about the team. A few things i learned from last years preseason games: the offensive line was gonna struggle that Tryon wasn't ready to play that Horton and Moore were ready that the rookie WRs weren't a featured part of the offense that Fincher is a good back-up LB that DE Rob Jackson has some ability Marcus Mason knows how to run
  20. your sig is mesmerizing Beat the Steelers!!!! Burgandy on Burgandy sun lets go!!
  21. LoL! Yeah bro people have a tendency to 'wolf pack' on this board. I like the idea of wearing all burgandy. You don't like the all Burgandy, cool. It might be a youth thing. It makes me think back to my college days when the terps would change their uniforms. HTTR!
  22. This feels like a college game to me. I haven't been this amped for a regular season game ever.
