12 years combined of team control for Abrams + Wood are a MUCH better bargain than 3 expensive years of Soto playing for a losing team. Anything else we can from any of the other prospects is just a bonus. Oh and one of those "bonus" players is currently in our rotation sporting a 3.12 ERA.

Speaking of bonus players, re the updates above on Robert Hassell, he was regarded as the best pure hitter that came over in the trade and he absolutely stunk last year. But he dealt with a hamate injury for the better part of two years, and was still recovering from it most of last season. Having dealt with a hamate type injury before, it takes absolutely forever to regain strength in your hand/wrist in a way that is sufficient to handle the amount of torque generated by swinging a baseball bat. Glad to see him picking back up and raking now.

Glad to see Abrams making the jump.

He's a bonafide superstar in the making and man, what a great surprise after his rocky first season here.

  3. Finally diving into some of our picks and I feel really good about the quality players we landed in round 2-3. That's the range Peters has been known to dominate. Looking at our rosters, there's reason to be optimistic that almost all of them will be immediate contributors (if not starters).

  4. Cool we’re at .500 nearly through the end of April. A quick glance at the schedule indicates the road gets tougher for the next six weeks. We don’t play a team that’s currently more than a game under .500 until the next time we get the Marlins on June 14, and there’s a bunch of quality teams mixed in during that stretch as well.

It does get a bit easier after that, so if we’re aiming for let’s say a 75 win season, it could still be doable even if we’re not on track for it by the start of July.

Read up on the very real and very damaging effects of knowing you're female, of having every synapse in your brain and every chemical in your body constantly telling you that you're female, yet being condemned in a "male" body (or conversely, being male forced to exist within a female body). The suicide rate among trans people is a reflection of that reality. When they look in the mirror they don't see themselves, or anyone...they see a jail cell that they're condemned to spend the rest of their lives in even though they didn't do anything illegal or criminal. Using that jail example, surgery can be like an innocent man sent to jail for life suddenly getting a pardon and released from prison.

So, no, it's not just for "looks."

All great arguments for therapy to help learn to accept and love themselves. That's definitely covered by insurance fwiw.

edit to add: Body Dystrophic Disorder can also be treated by therapy. Or if the patient really feels like they need it, they can get a cosmetic procedure (which is not covered by insurance)

That's probably because you don't really know the science behind gender.

If theoretically a person can be a woman despite having a penis, why should we (taxpayers/health insurance payers) have to fund their expensive! efforts to transform their penises into… well… something that at least kinda looks like a vagina.

I live in good ol' Bob Good's district (yeah, that guy). The Virginia Patriots for Freedom PAC has been running attack ads mutliple times per day during CBS morning show for the last week or so. "He's a backstabbing RINO" LOL  It's fun watching them eat their own...

I watched his challenger put up one of his signs on the road near my house. Big meathead looking dude with a trailer full of signs and Trump flags towed behind a Ford Raptor.

Our offense should be like 2012 again but even better if Daniels is better than RG3 because the rest of the supporting cast is much better than what RG3 had.

Eh I would absolutely not say that. 2012 we had Trent Williams at LT, an aging but still productive Santana Moss plus a very good prime Pierre Garcon at WR. Run game had a 1600 rusher in Alfred Morris. Plus Kyle Shanahan >>> KK.

Terry and Dotson are good but not great, RBs have more skill, Oline is definitely worse. I think the 2012 team was better.

Idk what to expect with Daniels. I was so ****ing excited for Robert Griffin and remember there was so much said pre draft about his mature passing game. "Not just a runner." Gonna have to take a "believe it when I see it" approach. Honestly I might not fully buy in until he makes it through a full season or even two, bothj unscathed and productive.

I personally find the junk fees for seat selection and carry-on **** that airlines have implemented to be odorous. That said, I don't see how what Buttigieg said changes what airlines are doing. Airlines see it as the consumer paying for a class (economy, economy plus, business, etc) of seats. As long as you get that class of seats (or better),  I don't see how anything is different.

I flew American last week for the first time in a bit and noticed they now charge you to pick ANY seats. Used to be you could get to pick a seat toward the back included in your ticket cost. Now you have to pay them $10 per flight just to not end up in the ****ing middle seat. You can check in without picking a seat but they will auto assign you to wherever they want.

Yeah. I don't see that happening. If they pick Daniels, I think they pick him because they flat out think he is the better QB. I don't see that personally but I don't think that Peters is a fool that gets talked into a pick.

Agreed. All the media reports are that league scouts and teams have a significant preference for Daniels. They view him as 1B to Caleb’s 1A (with a handful thinking Daniels is the 1A). If Washington doesn’t pick him, it’s one of two reasons:

-either the narrative is dead wrong and just silly season BS

    or

-something about Daniels spooked us (medicals, interview, etc)

I think there’s too much out there from reliable reports to think the narrative is BS. So I fully expect the pick to be Daniels, but if it is not, it’s probably not based on that is on tape.

  11. Also, I'm starting to get really excited for the Nats. Pitching was still a huge potential gap for the rebuild but if guys like Irvin and Parker can both turn into decent rotation pieces, suddenly you've got a lot of wiggle room with Cavalli coming back (as well as the potential to add a FA top of the rotation arm when we are ready to really compete).

I also suspect we will see Wood and Crews later this year. Winker will make a nice trade piece at the deadline and will clear the way for Wood. Crews might be a Sept call up and get some good playing time the last few weeks of the season. I think both will be opening day starters for us next year. It's happening!

If the pick is Maye, then I'll tell myself that he will be the next Josh Allen, and Daniels will flame out and get injured.

If the pick is Daniels, then I'll tell myself that he will be Lamar with a better arm and Maye will be Trubisky 2.0.

If the pick is JJ, I will fall into fetal position.

At least I'm covered mentally on 2/3 QBs!

JJ is Drew Brees with wheels, Kirk Cousins with clutch, and he will lead us to many championships.

There, you now are covered. Unless the Bears take Daniels and we're forced to settle for Caleb Williams.

He was on my **** list, with Menses, Robles, and Williams. Garcia and Williams are really having a great start. I would LOVE for Garcia to keep this up and lock down second. He has really cut down on the boneheaded plays (still has one here and there, but so do all players).

I've said this before (ironically as a defense of Robles when he has had tough stretches), but we got a little spoiled with Bryce and Soto starting and doing well in their age 19 seasons. Not everyone develops at the same pace. Garcia turns 24 next month. He's definitely getting to the age now where you will know what you've got, but a lot of guys show well defined improvement as they get into their mid to late 20s and hit their athletic peak.

he was getting on base and moving around the bases well. Because he was playing solid defense and at least getting himself into a position to score more than a few guys above him, I would have like to see him bumped up a few spots to try benefiting from it.

He’s still young and needs regular playing time that he would not have gotten now that Senzel is back.

  15. Caps showing a lot of resilience and grit. Dominant game.

Unfortunately Detroit scored two third period goals to force OT. That’s still going on… tbd if it will be one point for them or two.
edit- Detroit won. They remain tied with the Caps. We will need two points tomorrow.
