  1. Fun fact: The QB that runs the most is most likely to take a big hit. Fun fact 2: QBs can get crushed standing like a statue in the pocket, just as hard.
  2. I will assume I am the only one fearing PTSD if the Giants end up with JJ and he turns out the best in the class.
  3. Great idea. QBs fail and we blame them and not the OC OL etc... its all the QBs fault duh. For the amount time and effort put into drafting grooming and developing a QB, there is a severe lack of follow up on why expectations were not met. Not to mention, the amount of money involved in the sport. Football is this country's undisputed entertainment... for men... and pron aside perhaps. I remember saying YIKES when I heard that RG3 didnt know the route tree - right after we drafted him of course. That Haskins coach changed the entire offense to cater to him. ****ing great and sure enough both failed. There are many books that could be written that us football fans would pounce on. Lets all play name the failed DC QB: "I was just a deer in the headlights" "Best Preseason QB ever - Why I failed at the next level" "Throwing to Wide Open WRs in College can land you a Heisman" "800 Pages?" Bonus Question: "How I got a job at State Fromm"
  4. No joke. RG3 is likely always going to tout anyone that remotely looked like him in college. AP - take Maye lol.
  5. I think its about time folks stop saying WE WILL TAKE and stop guessing and just share who you want or think we will take, and why. It's exhausting.
  6. I am thinking copy pasting could stave off carpal for somebody here. Is it draft day yet? Requisite gif.
  7. "Great" young (read: QB who looked great for 2 games) backups used to fetch a fortune from desperate GMs. I bet they still could but the fear of competition at the position slams that door shut.
  8. I wish that OCs and their playbooks, OLs / supporting cast would be factored into how an NFL QB develops far more than it is. One of my all time favorite fails was our own Jason "light me a candle" Campbell. Big long slow delivery expected to run West Coast and had Al Saunders 800 page playbook dumped on his lap. Which he purged back to 400 pages IN YEAR 2. I really think a lot of OCs caused their QB to fail more than the QB did themselves. The QB deemed a bust and the OC gets a QB coach gig in his next stop to ruin the next kid. OCs never take any of the blame nor get it, ever. Say what we want about Ron but he seemed one of the first to truly cater his offense to his QBs strengths with Cam Newton.
  9. Mariota is indeed a real zero If the shoe fits go get that goose egg. Hopefully thats how many TDs he has since we didnt need to use him.
  10. stollen off HF Kurt Warner: “I know many of you LOVE college football, but as I start to dive into these college QBs, it’s hard for me to even watch,” he said. “very few play on schedule, the pass concepts are a mess most of the time, they run the same play over and over, a million bubble screens, can’t find many concepts that translate to [the] next level.” Expect failure if any OC forces a QB to digest 800 page playbooks with no plays from their college. And maybe even 200. Who knows. I am convinced agents pay clown show so called pundits like Simms to pump up their players.
  11. Final thought ha on my "vet" QB backup decades long NFL mandate. Gotta have a vet because a young QB as a backup, will conflict with another higher rated young QBs development or put too much pressure on him, or whatever. Proven fact it tends to make them fail. Even though I believe a stubborn old mule OC make them fail far more often, but whatever. That vet backup QB the NFL GMs all insist on to help groom the greenhorn? IMO he is as big a threat (if not bigger) to steal starts from that kid we just drafted, vs a young #2 will.
  12. Good point and I have to trust AP and I get it, new GMs cut the cords with the previous regime. Maybe AP had a low grade on Sam like all the other GMs. Still a 5th... Indeed my mind will be put at ease when AP drafts a QB in the 5th or 6th - a longer term dev project dart throw. Or if the draft pick for Sam becomes a stud. Meanwhile, my mind will explode if I once again have Sam Howell on my fantasy team in coming years, and not our shiny new QB. Say what you want about Sam's sacks or late season INTs but the dude survived our meat grinder... he's tough didnt fumble much despite a ton'o'sacks and dropbacks and feel he has untapped potential under a real coaching staff. Like our new one.
  13. Agree and I fully understand its long standing NFL traditional that only 1 QB can ever be groomed at time.... yeah maybe ignoring the best QBs we had in recent memory were drafted in the same year, one for spite. I just hate that same tradition just can't seem to develop QBs with any sort of regularity. The NFL burns through young QBs which allows the meh old ones to stick around forever. As a compromise I'd propose NFL teams have 3 QBs until they find a franchise guy. One "cant miss" young QB undisputed starter handed the job no competition, the token mandated "vet" backup for when the starter chokes, and then the 3rd QB a late round developmental QB as a dart throw. Like Howell. Yep it eats a roster spot but IIRC rosters are more expanded than ever.
  14. TLDRs FTW Why the hell is Mariota here again.... Vet leadership..... I have to trust AP that he is a leader of men. But I remain on record as saying Howell would have been both a better short and long term backup. Yes even if it made Maye look over his shoulder pads.
  15. Its almost odd how both Howell and Maye both Carolina boys, had their stats tank their senior year. But its not their fault right. Same ****ty school living off BBall. Howell projected to go in the 2nd plummets to the 5th when Ron decided to throw a dart. By my arm chair math, Maye could fall as well. if even a spot. It certainly shouldnt surprise anyone using Howell as a measuring stick of sorts. Dont be fooled by a #10 powder blue tall boy not in a elite program.
  16. What is it that is exactly the same about this thread with every visit? IT'S the same. No matter when we visit, here we are its always the same old us reading the same old stuff. So its not a bad time for a 2 week vacation from yourself ES via a trip to Rekall. After my trip to Mars that elbow ain't so freaky. Wait, did you say, 2 weeks? Total Recall fans may recognize the mod'd script.
  17. JESUS HAROLD CHRIST ON A F***ING RUBBER CRUTCH Name the movie. This thread needs some help. Or, from another classic, Fletch.
  18. Yep. If there is a run on WRs before where AP was eyeballing one, guess what - it's back to BPA. GMs have to flexible. And for the love of the game, when you don't have a franchise QB, don't wait ~every 4 years to spend real draft capital on a QB like we have been doing for ~20 years.
  19. I think until we see a new WR inked or an elite (~top 10 rated) WR drafted, there is little competition of course for Dyami. We will bring a body somebody in, but when I say signs point to him getting a bigger role its because: 1 We HAVEN'T gotten anyone. 2. Samuel is gone so by default he is moved up my depth chart. 3. He's young and we all know WRs can take time to develop so maybe he isn't done cooking. 4. Maybe he sucked in our crap system where WRs would improvise and be in the same spot 5. Maybe just maybe he is air raid friendly or KK loved him as a prospect?? 6. We are a team undergoing a metamorphosis hording cap space and he is young and cheap, with AP refusing to ink anyone long term/expensive. 7. Dat UNC connection /s Its maybe a little harsh to single him out when both TMC and Jahan had struggles last year. Yeah Dyami wasn't the only one dropping balls. Wildcard is Crowder. He showed late last year he can still play so maybe they think he can be our #3, but of course WRT his age and return duties is more likely #3 slot insurance #1PR. ESPN Depth Chart - heh look at Crowder. We could move Jahan into the slot IMO. Or should.
  20. We will? We may, sure, since its a deep WR class this year but then it could be a 3rd or 4th rounder. We could also address TE or the OL or simply take BPA which many seem to often clamor for and ignore gaping holes. Regardless, looking at R2WRs last year... Mims and Mingo didn't do much while Jaylen and Rice looked great. 2022 Watson great, Wandale injured, Methcie who Thornton who Sky Pierce and Pickens.. Sure its a small sample size but a round 2 WR contributing enough to fill Samuels shoes points to a coin flip. I hope we draft a stud WR but Boyd can do it out of the box and free up that pick if AP wants. It looks like Boyd has many suitors so AP is likely out anyways. Sure Dyami sucks but until he is gone he is in the mix to compete with anyone we draft.
  21. Not anymore. My intensive intents and humor are simply eggcorns now. Back on topic I think we need help in the WR but signs are pointing to Dyami "Breakout" Brown getting a bigger role. Sure we will draft a WR but there is no way anyone less than a highly rated kid will fill Samuel's shoes. I'd kick the tires on Tyler Boyd @ 6'2" which should keep some Mix fans happy.
