  1. OMG! The new UFC video game looks awesome!

    http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/876/876981/vids_1.html

    yes indeed.

although i'm sure it will be multi-platform, it better come out for 360.

hopefully the gameplay is solid. theres alot to mma, that could make for a complex fighting system. hopefully they can find a balance between staying true to the product, while making it fun to play

it need to have a deep career mode, with a good create-a-fighter. THQ usually does a pretty good job with combat games so i think this will come out good.

i'll be getting this day it drops, unless they completely blow the fighting system

  2. Even though I thought Tito won, I would take Rashad in a rematch. Evans finally started throwing punches in the 3rd round and this had a BIG effect on Ortiz. I don't think Tito does well against strikers with fast hands and Rashad was really strating to tee off on him. Even though Tito would have choked him out at the end of the 2nd, it's also true that Rashad would have KOed Tito if he had 10 more seconds at the end of the 3rd.

I also thought Tito was gassing in the 3rd.

i don't think tito would've choked him out. it looked as tho, rashad glanced at the ref (still a mistake on his part) while he was in the process of deducting a point from ortiz. and you could argue that had ortiz not grabbed the cage he wouldn't have gotten the position on rashad that he did.

i think rashad takes the rematch, as i don't think he will be as tentative as he was in the early rounds.

  3. people talk about Silva's striking, but they tend to leave out how good he is defending himself on the ground. before the fight with Nate people said he had a weak takedown defense because of the Lutter fight (even though Silva had surgery on both knees just 11weeks before that fight). his jiu-jitsu is great at defending subs, and getting back to his feet. not to mention he pretty good at striking off his back. take a look at this transition, that effectively set up the end for Nate (who is a ground wizard in his own right):

Silva is as well-rounded a fighter that there is in the ufc at the moment. if the fight is standing he going to pick you apart. if you take him down, he has the ability to defend submissions, apply his own submissions, or use his jiu-jitsu to get back to his feet.

on top of everything he's an extremely focused fighter and takes every fight seriously, and shows respect to his opponents after KO'ng them

Silva is goin to hold that MW belt for a long time.

now that i think of it, i would much rather see Hendo fight Silva than Rampage, that would have the potential to be a classic fight :2cents:

  4. rd.4 is almost exactly identical to rd.2. franca caught him with a knee that did a little damage, but he still spends the majority of the round on his back.

    round 4 to sherk again.

why the fans are booing i have no idea, the last few ppv's it seems like they've been booing for next to no reason.

  5. Thanks as always!

Anyone think that maybe we should start some kind of MMA fantasy league in this thread? We could do it "pick em" style, where instead of drafting fighters, we just choose the fights, and after each PPV/fight card, we tally up everyone's points (e.g. 5 points for correctly choosing the winner, or something like that)......Or is this just a stupid idea and I should just enjoy the fights? :silly:

i think its a good idea

maybe add some bonus points for correctly picking the way the fight will end (i.e. 2nd KO)

  6. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!! BJ Penn vs Diego "Dirty" Sanchez in August. As if the card wasn't stacked enough. Source: http://www.sherdog.com/news/news.asp?n_id=8155

I guess Diego doesn't mind two losses in a row.

i thought Sanchez was fighting Sakurai on that card, either way he loses tho.

to be honest, i'm surprised, yet impressed, that the ufc didn't feed him a can to get his confidence back.

he doesn't have much of a shot against BJ tho, everything Sanchez does, BJ is better. Sanchez's only hope is that BJ gasses, which is entirely possible.:2cents:
