  1. that was one of the craziest finishes i've seen to a fight. Grant clocked him just as the final bell rang and the dude just barely made it back to his feet
  2. pretty good weekend of fights: Friday Night: Andre Ward vs. Jerson Ravelo (ShoBox) Saturday Night: Andre Berto vs. Miki Rodriguez (HBO Boxing After Dark) Edison Miranda vs. Arthur Abraham II (Showtime) Miranda/Abraham II will be a great fight
  3. Alves isn't one dimensional. he has black belt in bjj. he just prefers to KO people, as opposed to submitting them.
  4. after being KO'd by Serra, i don't think GSP will play the standup game with many more of his opponents. i think he'll have a little trouble keeping Alves down, but i can see him getting repeated takedowns. GSP would be wise to get Alves down though. If GSP got TKO'd by a natural LW in Serra, i expect Alves can do the same. Not to mention, GSP would be wise to get the fight to the ground so he doesn't take any of Alves' murderous leg kicks. i still think GSP would win a decision victory, but it wouldn't be a cakewalk like his fights with Hughes or the 2nd victory against Serra.
  5. yeah, Franca definitely got the shaft in that situation your right about A.Silva vs. Chuck though, it should be exciting for as long as it lasts. although since both tend to read then react, it could take awhile for the action to start.
  6. Franca didn't contest his. he admitted his wrongdoing and took the penalty.
  7. Franca been serving a 1yr suspension for using steroids in the Sherk fight. I think Torres will move up, but only to 145. i think the WEC will let him and Faber win a 3 or 4 more fights, then plan a Super Fight between the two, personally i can't wait for that match. Torres is 5'9 so his body could definitely make the move to 145 & 155 if he wanted too. depends on how chuck responds to the torn hamstring. its not easy to heal major injuries as you get older. and judging by the Jardine fight, Chuck doesn't check many leg kicks. i think Silva would win a comfortable decision or even possibly a late round TKO against Chuck. Anderson is more methodical than Wandy could ever be, so Chuck wouldn't be able to use his aggression against him like he did with Wandy
  8. so far the July 19th card looks like: Anderson Silva vs. James Irvin (fought @ 205lbs) Hermes Franca vs. Frankie Edgar Brandon Vera vs. Reese Andy (fought @ 205)
  9. http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=6514&zoneid=2 wow
  10. but...........................HE FINISHES FIGHTS respect the man WHO FINISHES FIGHTS Kenny Florian = #1 when it comes to FINISHING FIGHTS
  11. not quite sure, i can't get a good look of his face from that clip. he was actually doing pretty good defending GSP's takedowns before he gassed. once he started gassing and leaning against the cage, GSP used that to his advantage and took him down. if they do rematch, i'm praying BJ's cardio will be the best its ever been. GSP has proven he can takedown world-class wrestlers like Koscheck, but BJ Penn's flexibility gives him probably the best takedown defense in MMA. i would love to a the takedown battle between Penn & GSP when both are in peak condition.
  12. they are rescheduling because Chuck looks his best against wrestlers who don't post much a striking threat Dana wants to give Chuck one more title shot before he retires. if Chuck wins, i fully expect Dana to create a half-assed explanation as to why Chuck deserves a title shot.
  13. and if its shown on spike, chances are they'll be an immediate replay of the Spike event as soon as the live show ends. i'm definitely watching the Affliction card, and i'll DVR the UFC event
  14. Dana ain't trying to let no one esle in on the MMA market  good matchup thought if it happens.
  15. Aoki vs. Nagata (gogoplata from the mount): Melvin Manhoef vs. Sakuraba:
  16. i'm watching Dream 4 and Shinya Aoki just pulled off a gogoplata FROM THE MOUNT POSITION i've never seen that before, i'm convinced that Aoki does not have bones, limbs just ain't supposed to bend the way his does.
  17. Nick Diaz is a jackass, plain and simple that was some WWE type **** at the end
  18. why is Bill Goldberg still employed by EliteXC? he makes me want to turn the channel.
  19. http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=6485&zoneid=2 not making weight is becoming contagious edit: it should be noted that Corbbrey originally weighed in at 158.5lbs, then after agreeing to the catchweight, weighed in at 163lbs
  20. yeah its being shown on live HDNET at 4am(est) late sat/early sun morning. EliteXC has a card on Showtime Saturday night: Yves Edward vs. K.J. Noons Nick Diaz vs. Mushin Corbrey
  21. i don't doubt Vince's business accumen. his track record speaks for itself. the problem is when you take on Vince as a partner, your sport immediately gets mentioned hand in hand with wrestling. when he started the XFL people joked and mocked how the games would be fixed and all the extra BS that went along with WWE antics. UFC doesn't have the mainstream credibility to survive an immediate association with Vince. any casual fan who thought about watching MMA would just assume (right or wrong) that it was just like wrestling and everything was scripted. if the UFC was more established and accepted for what it is, then i wouldn't have a problem with Vince coming in. the fact is, there are still too many people who simply don't know enough about MMA to properly disassociate itself from wrestling if Vince were involved
