  1. That ESPN article is going to go a LONG way for Caleb Williams' PR and marketing in the positive direction after months of nit-picking a foregone concluded #1 pick in the draft. Actually confirms a lot of what was said about him from teammates, coaches, etc who have worked with him. He ain't falling past #1.
  2. Jesus, I didn't realize that this thread required body armor if you wanted to weigh in. High levels of skepticism are generally a great thing when weighing the biggest of decisions; however, it does seem like once you get in the rarified air of being a top QB and @ top 5-10ish prospect, then the discussions are around what "CAN'T" they do, as opposed to what is their presumed super power and how can that be showcased. Inevitable AND necessary, of course. I feel like, as a fan who doesn't have the acumen to evaluate film, I could be talked into being happy with any of these 3 players.
  3. Listening to the PFF NFL show and Rick Spielman is on. Really interesting to hear him describe how his consulting work with Commanders is going. Very in depth descriptions as to how they identified, interviewed and decided which GM and head coaches they wanted to hire. Spielman confirmed that Harris was adamant about getting GM in place before they start the HC search in earnest. He then goes on to detail the interview formats, how Peters was spearheading those, etc. Really interesting. Puts the bed all the garbage about the "committee" approach, too many chefs in the kitchen, etc.
  4. The hope is that a few QBs in the tiers below the top 3 sneak into the first, along with a run on CBs that could facilitate a fall for guys like JPJ and the OT from Arizona, etc. The 2nd & 3rd rounds, if they keep all of their picks is going to be really interesting.
  5. Excellent resumes all over the place on this coaching staff for sure. The ceiling for this group could be amazing, HOWEVER, they do need to gel and learn to work with one another and translate that to a singular message they bring to the all of the players or this thing could end up being a clusterf** like it was in Carolina last season. That being said, I am really excited to see if Kingsbury (a hire I am skeptical of) and Lynn + Johnson are able to marry the Kingsbury passing concepts that are his forte' with the west coast run concepts they have helped cultivate over the years.
  6. Yeah, not a critique of his overall acumen or ability to inform. Just thought the Captain Obvious take could use a little light roasting 😁
  7. 100% true and about as informative and interesting analysis as saying in order to wash your car the water needs to be wet. Thanks for the insight, Mark.
  8. Quinyon Mitchell, the CB from Toledo that was apparently a man amongst boys during the entire week. He's already considered a top 30 guy but thought I should mention
  9. I think this is an absolutely legit concern with Kingsbury. It will be a wait and see if he pulls a DQ and does some self reflection and absorbs some nuances from the Shanny, McVay, Reid offenses into his own. I was hoping for a Shanny disciple for another reason and that is that Adam Peters has already scouted and built offenses that fit that scheme. Obviously, if he is as good as advertised he should be able to evaluate ALL types of schemes but with his prior knowledge he could've had an edge there. For example, Chargers added Hortiz from Ravens who's scouted for players that fit Greg Roman's scheme. Well, guess who Chargers brought in? Not to mention Hortiz understands Harbaugh lead teams, as well. The alignment (which is the word of the offseason here) seems to be awesome already for LA
  10. Seeing Snyder's downfall and it's resulting in Dan selling the team has to be super satisfying for him and would probably be the chef's kiss if this ownership group swoops in and has success. I'm right there with him.
  11. Yeah, the assumption that the Williams and KK connection is going to be a primary driver of their draft strategy seems like a lazy take, but I get why it's brought up. If nothing else, KK should be able to provide very robust intel on Caleb Williams which will be invaluable.
  12. That's good. Who's currently running the numbered system in the NFL right now? I remember Logan Paulsen breaking down the difference why he thought WCO was superior to numbered system and it was eye opening. To be fair, offensive & defensive systems evolve everyday so I do hope this works out.
  13. Thank you for this. If this is accurate, it's not my preference. Overwhelming majority of teams run a version of WCO, most notably, the Shanny/McVay tree. This offense will probably have to deal with a lot of free agents wrapping their heads around new verbage, etc. That being said, current players will have gone from numbered (Turner) to WCO (Bienemy) and now back to numbered. For whatever that's worth
  14. Anyone able to school me on what offensive system Kingsbury runs as it relates to the two predominant systems in the NFL, West Coast & the Numbered (Gibbs, martz, Turner etc)? I understand it's termed the Air Raid. Does he use similar terminology to any of those systems, is it something completely different? Someone take me to school, please. Thanks
  15. Has there been any actual reporting from Commander's sources that Johnson didn't interview well? All I've seen so far was Garafolo saying that but not identifying any actual team. Seattle had interviewed him in person, I believe, and Washington initial virtual interview at the time Johnson pulled his name out of consideration.
  16. What is up with or McVay's assistants like LaFleur or his pass game coordinator? I believe he gives them playcalling duties in the preseason for development and training. Damn, McVay is so good. Can they trade for him? lol
  17. Listening to Schefter on Sheehan's show today was kind of eye opening in regards to Ben Johnson. He gave the analogy of the kid who likes the "idea" of going away to college, only to then have a change of heart and decide to go to school near home where his mom and dad were. Yeesh Tennessee Titans looking pretty smart, if going with a young OC was the goal.
  18. Snyder frothing at the mouth to also give him the job that Adam Peters has now (as a sweetener to the deal to convince him to sign) is why I LOL'd at that hiring at the time. Don't see the same situation here, other than Quinn is a DC that fans don't find sexy. I, too, was hoping for an offensive playcaller to pair with young QB but I'm not going to act like Quinn is an unqualified rivera clone
  19. I think this is the narrative that will come out of all of this. Front offices, coaches, people around the league sort of knew that Johnson may need his Daddy for a little while longer and was looking for a team to make an offer he couldn't refuse and Commies, Seahawks were like we'll treat you like the first year, no inexperienced HC that you are.
  20. Peters gets to draft the QB. I think the lack of play callers in the coaching hiring cycle has been their undoing as it relates to this. However, maybe they aren't simply looking for a guy to pair up with a QB, but a leader of the team type to rebuild the program
