  1. TH is reminding me of Doug Flutie. Incredibly average but just keeps persevering and winning. Fans and coaches will covet the prototypical QB (6’5”, rocket arm, college pedigree) and Heinike will spend his career constantly finding ways to win and battling for respect.
  2. I think that thought could be expanded to offense and defense as a whole. Neither side performs in a vacuum. I don’t think we are tapping the potential of Sweat/Young because they rarely play with a lead where they can “pin their ears back” and full out blitz. You need an offence with sustained possession and the ability to put up points to allow the D to wreak havoc.
  3. Yep. Frustrated for sure! Tired of looking towards draft prospects and team needs mid-October. Saddened to think a defensive minded coach can build the right environment for a young QB to turn a franchise around. Resign myself to a team built for defense, a strong run game and a “Dilfer-esque” QB managing the game.
  4. Agree 100%! Darnold’s confidence could be shot, and he is shell shocked like David Carr or Matt Leinart.
  5. I think this draft will end up being a special one especially for offensive players which most fans want in the game. QB,LT,WR,RB all have multiple options.
  6. It is very similar to the hot takes in game day threads. Complete over reactions based on one game. Throw out all the college career accomplishments and rely on one game.... Lawrence has one a national championship vs Alabama, beat OSU in the Rose bowl to lose to LSU last year snd now lost in the Rose bowl to OSU. Based on last night he has now been exposed and will tumble in the draft?!? Based on the same logic I’m surprised Chase Young didn’t free fall after losing to Clemson last year.
  7. I don’t think this affects Lawrence at all. This game just renews the conversation of Lawrence and Fields being 1 and 1A. Biggest loser in this is Zach Wilson.
  8. He sure has answered his critics. No one should be scared of picking this OSU QB.
  9. Man I hope D Smith doesn’t end up in the NFCE. I would hate for us to face him twice a year in the future.
  10. Would Allen/Turner be a fair comparison be Kyle Shanahan/Rex Grossman? Guy won’t carry the team as a starter, but he understands and can run the offense which should help all the QB’s in the room.
  11. Unfortunately I think Mac Jones is going in round 1. I just hope we can stay at 19 and he falls to us. I worry about Det/Denver/SF/NE grabbing him after Lawrence,Wilson,Fields, and Lance are gone.
  12. I will give you that it was a massive failure to allow the owner to pick the QB based on the guy going to the same school as the owners son. However, Haskins fooled many draft “pundits” and most mock drafts had him as a first round pick, with some having him top 10. Everyone done messed up grading him. Jay had a lot of short comings but he could evaluate QB talent.
  13. Has anyone figured out how much of a cap hit an expensive vet QB is going to cost us? If we were to go with a Stafford, we are definitely letting Alex go, plus paying for Haskins hit. That has to represent a serious chunk of change for the QB position ($40-$50M?). Likewise, trading Stafford is going to be a $19-$24M hit to the cap for Detroit. Next year it drops to under $10M. Would it not be best for Detroit to hold Stafford 1 more year? New GM and HC can come in and see what they have on the roster. Do they really want to start with a new QB too? They are in a perfect spot to get a Zach Wilson or Trey Lance and let him sit behind Stafford for a year, and then the full re-build starts. I am far from an expert on the salary cap implications so please correct me if I'm not seeing this correctly.
  14. I think the “Mormon Manziel” nickname has everything to do with on the field playing style and nothing do do with off field behaviour. Clearly a nickname that didn’t age well....
  15. Ahhh. Get it. I appreciate the analysis you do for those of us who don’t get all the NCAA games (I’m in Canada).
  16. What changed? I thought 6 weeks ago you thought he was going top 10, maybe 3rd overall (ahead of Sewell)?
  17. Just checked out Tankathon mock 3 rounds and Washington has: 1)Darrishaw 2)Paris Ford 3) Sage Surratt 2nd 3)Jamie Newman I would be very happy with this. I was watching some video of Newman at WF and fell in love with Surratt instead.
  18. I have a hard time seeing Lance drop past SF or Chicago. I could see even Minny or Detroit grabbing him for the future.
  19. So I was just on Tankathon website and they have us drafting OT Daniel Faalele in the 3rd. Guy is 6’9” and 400 lbs?!? It looks like he was expected to be in 2022 draft so not sure if he declared. Anyone know anything about him? It doesn’t seem possible. Almost sounds like he is too big.
  20. Curious what slot you have us picking at? Is this based on current order at 5 or somewhere lower?
  21. I would say it’s the same argument for the LT position.
  22. So much will change between now and the draft, much our draft position and my opinion. I was a fan of drafting Sewell but I think we won’t end high enough. Last week I wanted to trade back like we did in 2011. Now with Wilson climbing in the mocks I’m seeing a positive position to go Wilson or Lance. Could still leverage that to trade back if we find a motivated partner. While Lance has an apparent “high ceiling” I’m not convinced WFT is the team to develop raw talent into a franchise QB (right now).
  23. Not sure what is more depressing.... starting to look at the draft in October, or realizing that with all the poor play on the field we are currently picking 5th and theres a good chance the Gnats covet the same player we do.
