  1. In the world of never going to happen but I'd love it to...
  2. He won't sit, just like almost all players that claim they'll sit for a season ends up suiting up by the final week of preseason. If it's not a deal you're happy with you fine him until either he plays or you find a deal you like. Do I think they have all the cards, no. Do I think they can sit and wait until the offer is to their liking, yes. Injuries happen, but who knows if his power(which is a large part of his game) will be right back to where it was pre-injury. You should also want to move an Allen or a Payne if you had to because Watson's contract will hurt our cap space. With John coming off the books that saves you an additional 10m this year. Once you cut Alex that saves you an additional 14m...it makes Watson's contract easier to digest as well as providing the opportunity to keep most of this DL intact and look a bit ahead to Scary Terry who will be up in a few years.
  3. Texans wont want Ion coming off an injury, if you're going to trade one they will want either Payne or Allen(I'd assume Payne because he still has some time left on the rookie deal). If we're not going to trade any of our DL for a qb, I'd love to see if we could get a 1st or 2nd out of Jon Allen before the draft. He's a great player and leader, but we're not going to be able to keep the whole DL together...get value while you can.
  4. Call it outright homerism but as an OSU fan....if we can get Hooker for 2MPY it's an absolutely steal! It's been crazy watching the health issues he had over in Indy. He was healthy or at the very least played a little banged up his one year of starting for the Buckeyes(2016). Is this prove it deal the consensus of rumors around the league or are we all just assuming he'll be available around that price tag based on availability during his rookie contract?
  5. I agree Newman/Haskins comparisons are bogus. Newman's ceiling from what I watched could be a poor man's Cam Newton before the injuries started taking their toll. A better passer(so long as he's worked on his mechanics) but not quite as powerful a runner as Cam. He really needed last year to refine his game.
  6. Only issue I see with Newman(and it could be shown to not be an issue at the Senior Bowl) is that he lost the year to polish his game. I'd almost assume if we took Newman we'd have to bring Alex back for the year and choose between Kyle and Taylor. He did flash some but didn't do anything to wow me but he has the tools to be good in this league. Has a high ceiling but has an equally low floor.
  7. Trading for Goff would require the Rams to give us picks in order for us to deem his contract worth taking on.
  8. Shhhhh 🤫....he's my quiet FA pickup that I'm hoping we don't have to overpay to get. He'd look really good running in two TE sets with Logan Thomas all for a cool sultry 7MPY between the two.
  9. Something that I may have been wasting my time thinking about recently, in regards to the very real possibility Alex does want to come back and play football. He showed he can still win a team a few games, is there any chance he could be moved this year vs just outright releasing him? I'm not saying we are getting a big payday, but am I crazy to assume we couldn't get a 6th rounder? Either way we have to eat the +8M deadcap, why not get even a 7th rounder for it?
  10. I have to take a moment and apologize even though nothing was said. When I saw I had a notification from my post, I completely figured you would be responding to how I absolutely have zero interest in Mac Jones at 19 and was coming to say I don't hate Mac Jones. If he slid to the second round I'd even consider it, I just don't think the talent warrants #19 overall. I like Williams but if I could have Waddle and then maybe a Sermon in the 4th, I'd look at that as my ideal draft situation. Najee is great but to me, and I'd be overly excited if that's the route WFT goes in this year, but to me bringing in someone to be your bell cow who is actually an incredibly gifted pass catcher as well as solid pass protector you eliminate the use for Gibson(unless you split him out wide/slot), McKissic, and Barber. I'm not sold on a single pass catcher on our team sans Terry. I'd draft Waddle, Newsome, Eichenberg, Surratt/Browning, Sermon with my first 5 picks(given that they're all still there). I'm really excited to see how Justyn Ross progresses, if he'll even be able to play again. I read he recently got some good news but still hasn't been cleared for any kind of contact? If he's good to go, but needs some additional time to heal, I'm still taking him later in the draft.
  11. I haven't even had the ink dry on the card by the time it took me to trade up and turn the card in for Pitts. It's never going to happen though, I'm not sure he even makes it out of the top 10(Miami *#18 as I don't think they'd use #3 on Pitts, Atlanta, Cincy...though they need to go OL to protect Burrow, Philly may depending on what happens with Ertz and Goedert and their salary cap, Carolina, or Denver need TEs. You also then have to get through Dallas, NYG(I'm not sure they resign Engram), New England, and Arizona. All teams that would benefit greatly from Pitts at their spot, though obviously all of these teams have other needs as well. That would be an amazing situation to be in, but I almost think you have to go Waddle if he drops from the injury. While I love Najee, and he would be an instant factor on this team...you just can't substitute his talent with anyone on the field opposite Terry. No matter what though, in every scenario I absolutely avoid Mac Jones at 19.
  12. He had a good season in 2019, I’d prefer to err on the side of caution when the data shows 3 years of similar stats in SF/when he played in NE vs 1 year in SF. Edit: sorry not sure why my iPhone posted separately vs placing this in my previous comment
  13. Those numbers were from this current season so no McCaffery skewing numbers. You don’t have to agree, your opinion is your own, but stats don’t lie. They’re very equal in terms of talent. Jimmy played in that six game stretch: Arizona, Miami, Jets, Raiders, NE, Seattle Allen played: NYG x2, Dallas, Rams Both played defenses that hovered right near each other. Some good/some bad Let’s say just for the sake of argument Jimmy is slightly better, it’s not enough to go from an 8-10mil per year to a 20 mil per year qb and giving up draft capital or to even entertain that idea. Not worth a qb that is that close to our current qb roster. I will agree it was his best year as a QB, but in 4 years that’s his one anomaly season. The other 2 are both worse than this current year before injury
  14. I'll say I agree about Cam or Taylor but you can't be serious about Rivers. Jimmy isn't even close to Rivers in terms of qb(and that's going off Rivers this year). As far as Allen vs Jimmy just using last years stats: Jimmy: 6 games played | 67.5% Completion percentage | 1096 yards | 7td | 5Int | 7.2ayp Kyle: 4 Games played | 69% Completion percentage | 610 yards | 4td | 1int | 7.4ayp They're literally the same qb which was my point. Why would I trade for a qb and pay an enormous salary to a qb that is equal to what I already have on the team that also knows my playbook. It makes zero sense
  15. No. We want to get better at the QB position. I'm sorry if this came off a bit snarky but why would this team want to trade or pick up QBs like Jimmy G or Trubiskey. If we want to go a route of subpar journeymen qbs we already have the equivalent of that in Kyle Allen...which IMO is better than either of those two options.
  16. I may be mistaken but isn't it 2 years if you pick up his rookie option? Worst case you didn't give up much to get him. Best case he plays like he's worth the money and you pay him, by then you wont have Alex's contract on the books either.
  17. For me it's really all about potential and looking at the team he came from. That whole Jets team was abysmal, I'm not giving anything more than a 5th this year for Darnold. If the Jets balk then you walk away.
  18. Trubisky would be the most depressing pick up we could get. I'd rather Kyle Allen to Mitch, you also can't say steady qb play and include Trubisky. If we are going for a qb that may become available that hasn't played great...I'd much rather Sam Darnold. At least then I could talk myself into the fact he played on the Jets, no one did great under Gase or the Jets the last couple of seasons. Mitch has had Allen Robinson, Montgomery, Patterson, Kmet/Graham, Riley Ridley and has looked extremely sub-par.
  19. Just Miami and Jacksonville. I'm not sure either would want to trade the 2-2s unless someone fell to 19
  20. I may have been reading all of these articles incorrectly, are they saying that there is actually Democratic support for a bill that basically provides zero relief to workers yet protect the businesses that have been negligent to those very people? I'm starting to think it doesn't matter what side of the fence you fall on, neither side gives a ****. If there was ever a time for a true independent party to step up and become a heavy hitter...it's now.
  21. I knew what you meant 😁, but I figured it was the one opportunity in the last two decades I could say we had the same winning percentage as the Patriots and exploit that tidbit. Too much to pass up!
  22. It may have been rhetorical but we got close to week 8 being tied with their standings, Pre-Alex Smith Injury era.
  23. What's bad is that may be exactly the road we are headed for. Maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself but the next four seem very winnable, but we know never take anything for granted. Of the four after that, maybe we can pull a squeaker out against the banged up Niners or Panthers. I love this team but I've pretty much penciled in Ls against the Steelers and Seahawks. I'd love to be proven wrong. The closeout in Philly seems to be the kicker here. They're very hot or cold given the week. I think this division is won at 6-10 with whomever has a better divisional win/loss record, and right now...its our Washington Football Team
  24. I'd be perfectly ok with that, if the culture changed. i've never thought to give up on this team while they're losing. I can live with losing. It's the extracurricular crap that goes on with this organization that makes me question how I feel being a Redskins' fan.
