2018 ES GMs Mock Draft is complete!

I'm in if we do it.
  2. Noooo. Not a Ryan. I hated Buddy and hate his kids even more and I'm not one who hates. Don't any of you know the history? This pisses me off.

What is the average age of our real fan base?

Agreed. A poll on this board isn't going to show that we've lost younger fans. They do other things. This board consists of us diehards who have been with the team forever. Youngsters don't bother with forums like this. I'm in the 61 to 70 category so I've lived through a lot with this team. I was a teenager when we lost to the undefeated Dolphins in Superbowl 7 and a young adult when we beat them in Super Bowl 17. The glory years. Screw that. We suck now and that's how it's going to be unless Snyder sells the team. Everyone calls for Bruce's head, but that's not the problem. Snyder will only hire "yes" men that do his bidding. If that's not obvious then I don't know what is.
  4. Mara! But seriously, thanks for the hard work.
  5. I got the warning again this morning on my desktop in Chrome by clicking first unread for the Jags prediction thread. I changed https to http and the warning went away. The reply button didn’t work though. Posting this from my phone.

Redskins vs Texans Prediction Thread: Pessimistically Optimistic?

There's no way that Philthy can beat the Saints. Dallas won't beat the Falcons. The Redskins have a chance to go up by 3 games. So, we'll probably blow an opportunity as history has shown over these past 20 or so years. Regardless, I'm going with the home team. The offense shows up despite injuries and a season of ineffectiveness and scores 4 TD's. The D scores as well. Skins: 35 Oilers oops, Texans: 17

2018 ES GMs Mock Draft is complete!

You're welcome. And yes, it's just a comparison to where the NFL teams picked vs. ours. It's nothing other than that. They certainly had more info than we did and some info, as in the case of Guice, came out after. I think you and quite a few others drafted better than the scores would indicate. We'll see how it turns out in a few years. Who knows, it's not uncommon for some of the top guys to bust or not live up to potential. Some of ours may shine. That will be the true test.

There is an explanation of my scoring system and a link to the spreadsheet a few posts up. Please check it to make sure I didn't miss a player that you picked. Thanks! I was sure I was going to miss some due to misspellings. There are probably others.

2018 ES GMs Mock Draft is complete!

For those interested I've uploaded my spreadsheet to Dropbox here: It's a simple scoring method where draft values are used to add weight to the difference in picks. The total is then divided by the number of picks a team had. The same was done for simple pick differences. I'll summarize and make post later today.

2018 ES GMs Mock Draft is complete!

I am working on a spreadsheet for an initial grade for all of us. (I know, we can't make a true assessment for a few more years.) I've made two grading categories and a bonus for making a pick in the same slot as the NFL. Both categories take the difference between our mock picks and actual picks. The first uses the Jimmy Johnson draft values so that picks in the early rounds have more weight than those in the later rounds. The second just uses the pick numbers. Both categories are divided by the number of picks a team had in the mock. So far, 11 teams have positive values! Congratulations are in order. Two other teams presently show positive values since they took players in later rounds but their first round picks weren't taken so their scores will eventually drop. (Steelers and 49ers) It doesn't look like anyone will be able to catch the Jags. @wilco_holland is presently sitting at a +149 differential. That's amazing to say the least. Congrats!! The Broncos are in second place at +54. The other teams in the plus column are: 3. Ravens 4. Colts 5. Dolphins 6. Browns 7. Rams 8. Lions 9. Chargers 10. Bills 11. Jets When the draft is finalized I'll upload the completed sheet to Dropbox. Edit: The values are not yet divided by the number of picks.

@PokerPacker thanks for the clarification. That, my friend, would be a blast. I agree wholeheartedly. I'd vote for this. Yes, it leaves more guys for others to choose from and only penalizes the skipped GM. If the draft ends with missing picks, some may feel that we didn't really finish. I don't think I would care, but for those who would, we could fill the voids with guys no one wants. Whatever we decide upon for next year, count me in.

2018 ES GMs Mock Draft is complete!

Just a few thoughts: The primary frustration we are trying to avoid is skips. It seems to me that this is going to happen regardless. The four hour dead clock could be quite complicated to track. I would have to have a different 4 hour window each day because my schedule varies too much. If I understand correctly, one could say that their clock is dead from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm. So, if they are on the clock at 8:00 am, their time wouldn't be up until 8:00 pm. How is this different than just giving 12 hours per pick? As I said, I may not understand the concept properly. I don't think that we'd be able to find a third party commissioner. It's a major commitment. (Thanks Epoch for all you've done.) I think the commissioner should volunteer. If we decide to vote for one, then only those who want the position should be considered. A co-commissioner could be helpful. I think the commissioner should be the one to set the rules. It may be helpful to spell out GM responsibilities in the OP as it may weed some people out. There will be times when life takes precedence even for the most dedicated GM's. We have to accept this. I see nothing wrong with the way we conduct the mock now other than the fairness to those who get screwed by a skipped GM who takes their guy. However, that's how the NFL does it. Above all, let's remember that we do this for fun. Even though we all do lots of research and spend a lot of time on our boards, it's a game.
