I don't really care about people's stature and whether they are chiseled out of stone. I care about whether they are good wrestlers and entertaining in the ring. Whether they can develop a coherent storyline. They do a much better job with that at the NXT level than they do with traditional WWE programming.
I mean, with a guy like Kevin Steen/Owens...you knew more about him and his motivations before he even wrestled a match in NXT than you did about guys that have been on the main roster for years. It's a main storyline and it makes sense. The main shows do not have much going on that makes sense. Why are Harper and Rowan feuding again? What about this Sting guy?
And you're right, it does feel like a small territory, and there is nothing wrong with that. But it is a well run and very entertaining territory. Zayn is probably the only guy that I can see making much of an impact on the main roster. I can't see guys like Neville and Owens really being huge stars on Raw, but man, in NXT, they are really fun to watch.
Edit: Actually, I forgot about a few others. Balor could probably make it on the main roster and maybe Breeze and Kidd. Also, essentially the entire women's roster. They are actually good wrestlers instead or reality TV "stars."
