  1. Anderson is a counterpuncher, and I think Nick had no interest in starting exchanges for the most part. You know what kind of fighter Silva is when you step in the cage with him. But Nick was trying to bait him into initiating exchanges until the end.
  2. I really hope that was not the last time I saw Anderson Silva. I am not sure what to make of his postfight comments. Maybe I am making too much out of it, but for as much as he talked about how his family did not want him to fight anymore before he took this fight, he talked about getting together with his family to see what happens after this. Especially the way he reacted after the decision. I thought he looked great. But like SU, I didn't see anything that has me clamoring for a Weidman fight again. Yep, that is the same thing I was thinking. My drunk typing was really slow though. I felt like I heard someone walking away. I hope not, but that's what it sounded like. I don't know what you're talking about. Hendo! America!
  3. Yeah, his contract expired, and his last few appearances in TNA were basically on a per-appearance basis.
  4. The backlash could have something to do with it, but I think the Lawler wanting time off is the main reason. Almost as soon as he won, he was talking about taking some time off, and I heard him mention it several times. So I figured that if that trilogy fight was going to happen, it was not going to be as quick as the UFC hoped.
  5. It felt like a bad decision at the time, and if this happens, it will be a complete bust. I could have seen putting the strap on him and developing a few mid-card guys and elevating them into title contenders, but that has not happened. The same guys are still at the same level and nothing has really changed all that much. It looks like the only guy to get that push was Reigns, and the injury derailed that. But that may have been the best thing to happen, because it is fairly evident that he is not ready.
  6. I don't really care about people's stature and whether they are chiseled out of stone. I care about whether they are good wrestlers and entertaining in the ring. Whether they can develop a coherent storyline. They do a much better job with that at the NXT level than they do with traditional WWE programming. I mean, with a guy like Kevin Steen/Owens...you knew more about him and his motivations before he even wrestled a match in NXT than you did about guys that have been on the main roster for years. It's a main storyline and it makes sense. The main shows do not have much going on that makes sense. Why are Harper and Rowan feuding again? What about this Sting guy? And you're right, it does feel like a small territory, and there is nothing wrong with that. But it is a well run and very entertaining territory. Zayn is probably the only guy that I can see making much of an impact on the main roster. I can't see guys like Neville and Owens really being huge stars on Raw, but man, in NXT, they are really fun to watch. Edit: Actually, I forgot about a few others. Balor could probably make it on the main roster and maybe Breeze and Kidd. Also, essentially the entire women's roster. They are actually good wrestlers instead or reality TV "stars."
  7. Yep. I finally caved and got the Network just to watch NXT. If anything happens with that, I am out.
  8. No offense, Chachie, but Gortat looks a lot happier with the Chick-fil-a spread than he is with you.
  9. The thing about NXT though is that the storylines are straightforward. It is more old school wrestling where we know the reason why guys are feuding. The normal WWE storylines try to get too cute, things are not explained at all, or stories are just dropped or repeated for no apparent reason. They just become a convoluted mess.
  10. It was great. That show had an excitement level that WWE has not had in a while. What a debut for Owens. After two hours, he has more traction than most of the main roster.
  11. Yeah, I heard that today too. He did a pretty good job. And I can't remember who was their guy last year either. I am like you, I remember Profit, but I can't remember who did it last year.
  12. That fight had a weird ending. it was the right call, just...weird.
  13. Yeah, I DVRed it and just finished watching that fight. It...was not a very good fight. They were both gassed by the middle of the second.
  14. Ellenberger did not do well at all. He landed some shots early, and they traded takedowns. But when he took Gastelum down, Gastelum got the best of a nice little scramble and he took Ellenberger's back. Ellenberger did not really defend the neck at all and Gastelum sunk the RNC in. It was a slick move by Gastelum, but Jake did not do much to defend it.
  15. I was actually starting to have visions of Mark ****ing Hunt as the UFC heavyweight champ. And it made me happy. The fight was going just as planned for Hunt and Werdum looked a little confused, and was hurt by some big shots. And then that knee. Damn.
  16. What a perfect knee. Things were going so well for Hunt and then...boom.
  17. They do still exist. Barely. I read something today saying that they might announce a TV deal next week and they had discussions with Destination America. Maybe Impact can air in between BBQ Pitmasters and United States of Bacon. That company had so much good talent, and has been so woefully mismanaged.
  18. Haha...oops. Maybe that is the big surprise Dana has been teasing. The hardcore belt.
  19. Gustafsson-Mousasi has a pretty solid co-main event: http://mmajunkie.com/2014/11/dan-henderson-returns-to-185-meets-gegard-mousasi-in-ufc-on-fox-14-co-headliner
  20. So...I now have plans for Jan. 24. This is a great fight, and the crowd should be complete madness. http://mmajunkie.com/2014/11/alexander-gustafsson-vs-anthony-johnson-slated-for-ufc-on-fox-14-in-sweden
  21. It's awful. I used to be a regular TNA watcher, and I still pay attention to a certain extent. But some of their gimmicks are just terrible. They do have a handful of really talented wrestlers, but a some of the guys that used to be the reason I watched TNA have left over the last few months. It seems that the ship may be slowly sinking.
  22. Yeah I meant to watch a little of it just to see how he was doing, but then I got wrapped up in other games. Apparently I missed quite a performance.
  23. Yeah, that is the least surprising suspension ever. It is unfortunate, but I don't think anyone was caught off guard by that one. My first thought when i saw it yesterday, was "at least he lost the fight." There would have been a lot more controversy if he actually won.
  24. Yep, I was thinking that was the only time I have seen it while standing.
