The doctor who was supposed to scope my knee (meniscus tear) on Mar 18 tested positive on the 16th. Have not gotten updates on how he is fairing.
I was supposed to have a pre-op with him the 17th, and was going to go, but tell him that I’d rather wait on the surgery until this pandemic gets under control.
Better be safe than sorry 👍🤟

March 1st to March 26th versions
In this article they are talking about the chinese study conducted on 30 patients
80 rather young patients (median age 52 years) were treated in Marseille for 6 to 10 days, between March 3 and March 21, 2020;
all patients were treated with hydroxychloroquine (3 x 200 mg daily) + the antibiotic azithromycin;
58% had comorbidity (hypertension, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, etc.) identified as a risk factor for Covid-19;
no significant treatment-related adverse events were noted (a single interruption).
At the end of the study:
65 of the 80 patients (81%) developed favorably and were discharged from hospital very quickly, on average after 4.6 days;
13 of 80 patients (16%) were still in intensive care at 10 days or more;
1 patient (86 years old) died in infectious disease without going through intensive care;
93% of patients had an undetectable viral load after 8 days.The decrease in viral load results from several indistinguishable factors, including natural healing of patients, the inherent effect of chloroquine and azithromycin, or a combination of the two.

Not directed at anyone in particular, but it would be nice if we could tone down the ‘death wishing’ in this thread. I know most is done sarcastically, but it’s starting to creep me out.
This thing is getting ready to knock on doors in all of our neighborhoods. We can get back to our normal disagreements at a later date.

We are still early. Again, this is a horror movie in slow motion. How many people are going to die in the states because of this? 50k doesn’t seem remotely crazy. Think about that.
Unfortunately too many.
Today on TV professor Lefort in charge of a lab studying covid said the virus is mutating but also weakening ! (sorry I have no link)

Was she cured or did she just recover from it? I don't recall reading her being given a cure a few days ago when I first heard this.
Maybe I am misremembering, or maybe something is lost in translation....
Your memory is just fine.
She checked in on March 3rd and was sent back home on March 20th. Doctors believe that the recovery is due to her "good physical condition".
She praised the doctors for having taking care of her like they did.
Edit : no medical treatment ! AWESOME

Coronavirus: Professor Raoult threatened with death for his comments on chloroquine
In 2006 he said : "Our state of readiness for a viral epidemic (...) is very bad." Link
Edit: government said there will be 10000 tests available every day, in the mean time in Germany they do 500000 per week
Update: Professor Annane (Paris) just said he treated successfully 30 people with chloroquine without side effects

I'd like to thank the german and swiss governments for taking care of some of our sick ones. This is an Awesome display of european solidarity, since our hospitals in eastern France are overwhelmed. 👏🙏
