  1. I want the Turtles to Win just because I hate that Nimrod lookin' Coach from Northwestern. The camera shots of that guy just pisses me off.
  2. Yeah, I wasn't too happy to see that. D played like crap on that last drive. But again, Norhtwestern? How the hell are they better than a Maryland team that went to Minnesota and beat the Gophers??? ---------------------------------------------- TOUCHDOWN BABY!!
  3. What I wanna know is why is Maryland a Home Dog to Northwestern!??
  4. Here's who should be fired: Ben McAdoo - New York Giants (if they face facts & proceed with the total rebuild, why keep him?) Adam Gase - Miami Dolphins (not only should he be gone for that fiasco, but the team struggled through some confounding losses. Shut out by New Orleans? Beaten by two Touchdowns to the Jets? ( A sub-.500 record cooks his goose) Marvin Lewis - Cincinnati Bengals (without a huge turnaround & a trip to The Playoffs, the Grim Reaper comes calling for Coach) Chuck Pagano - Indianapolis Colts (this guy's the 1st to go. I personally see no way this doesn't come to pass) Jack Del Rio - Oakland Raiders (his team is WAY too good to struggle this year. Missing The Playoffs dooms him) Sean Payton - New Orleans Saints (it was time to go two years ago. Winning his Division would save him, but realistically....) Here's who shouldn't get fired: Hugh Jackson - Cleveland Browns (the man is a damn good Coach. his organization needs to accept that they are in total rebuilding mode. give the man two more years, then see where you're at) John Fox - Chicago Bears (it is a sign of gross incompetence to fire a Coach after starting a Rookie Quarterback. of course the team won't be competitive in the same year) Bruce Arians - Arizona Cardinals (his best player got hurt & his team is old. if the Cards fall flat, that could leave him exposed) John Harbaugh - Baltimore Ravens (if the Ravens miss The Playoffs again this year, things could get interesting in Baltimore) Here's who probably does get fired (in my opinion): Chuck Pagano Sean Payton Hugh Jackson John Fox Adam Gase To me, their jobs are beyond saving. But there's a lotta football left to play yet.
  5. Burgold, I have lurked long enough to know that you are one of the elder statesmen here (I say this in tones of respect), and I deeply appreciate your wise, even keel. You are among that group of posters that I look to in order to find opinion on any new Skins developments. This post nails it! I fancy myself something of an X's & O's guy - but with actual experienced coaches discussing specific aspects of our 5 base Blocking Schemes in a 2nd & Short Formation (damn!), I have learned to keep my ignorant mouth shut. I enjoy the straight football talk - but more along the lines of 'this is how I think we Win this week's matchup' sorta thing. And all things in-between. This Diehard does not enjoy the hair-pulling TMZ stuff. Nor do I play armchair GM on the internet, or in real life. I'm just a mindless Diehard who loves his Skins & cheers them coarsely on Gamedays. But there are times when I feel like the unwanted guest. That I can handle (shoot, I've crashed a few parties in a different life). What I cannot handle is seeing Skins fans scared of the next week's Opponent: regardless of who it is.
  6. Look, I respect the diversity of opinion on any given matter (Hell, I'm certainly not arrogant enough to think that I'm always right). But I've seen people mercilessly attacked here for believing in The Team. I've also watched as some seemed to delight in calling people "homers" or "kool aid drinkers", like it was a 4-letter insult. And I'm ALL OF THAT! I wear my crown of McDonalds to-go cups proudly But is there any room for the sunny-side up egg here? I wonder...
  7. And Jay had to straighten out the QB situation here, while McAdoo took his job cause Eli was in place. They both made their bones as Offensive Coaches, while one team clearly has a legitimate Offense. Yes, I am a homer. But Jay Gruden>Bob McAdoo.
  8. They got us last year. They did, & I can't deny it (if Kirk hadn't thrown that pick...). But tell me you saw a Playoff Team Monday Night. I did, but it was the Visitors. I got New York securely in the cellar.
  9. I really hate to say it, but I've started to chill here less often. The football talk can really scratch the itch, but all the crying and woe-is-me-we'll-always-suck stuff is tiring. I choose to cheer the team positively. And that doesn't seem to represent the prevailing modus operandi around here. Which is unfortunate, because I think this will be a really exciting season. And listen, I'm not lookin' to pick a fight; it's more of a need to express my regret. And truthfully I'm trying to get this blog off the ground, so that eats up the lions share of my free time. Hopefully I'm wrong in my view on ES. Just understand that the gloom in excess (when it's all right there for The Team yet) chases some folks away. (please forgive, I'm done)
  10. This guy & his team are so overrated it makes me sick! I know I saw a 6-10 team play on Monday Night. Hell, Brandon Marshall's washed up, they have a goose egg in the backfield behind Eli, NO Offensive Line, and a good (NOT Great) Defense that's demoralized because they know this will be a season of no help. The big red flag was when New York (Coached by an Offensive guy) couldn't score 20 points on anyone down the stretch last year. Now don't you worry, they still can't score. And they beat up on a soft schedule last year. So their answer this season was to keep the same cast - NOT address any glaring weakness, mind you (while facing a MUCH tougher Schedule), and people actually thought this was a Super Bowl Team? Stop the world, I wanna get off.
  11. You beat me to the punch with this thought. However, I think McAdoo's an Okay coordinator - just not Head Coach material. And yes, I want New York to show him an unshakable commitment (for say, the next 5 years). The only thing that worries me is if they have too poor a season, they'll be right at the top of The Draft picking Eli"s replacement.
  12. @skinsmarydu We are kindred spirits indeed! It bugged the heck outta me too! And Brewer's a good writer, so I was surprised to see such an obvious error. Again, that's on his editor.
  13. You're right. And that's on the Sports Page's editor - I saw that. But as a rule, I do not edit any content I quote (it's downright mischievous!).
  14. Great column by Brewer that is worth your time: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redskins/redskins-jay-gruden-is-a-problem-solver-his-latest-problem-restoring-fans-faith/2017/08/26/30b876bc-89c1-11e7-a94f-3139abce39f5_story.html?utm_term=.ec34f11d12ba Here's the 1st paragraph It's good to know that respected NFL Observers aren't hyperventilating like us fans. At this point, it is important to remember that ours isn't the only team looking to get into a groove. Things will be ok. (Now go ahead and attack)
  15. This is absolutely true. I just started a twitter account under my ES username & literally one of the 1st followbacks I received was from @WRC_Candess. I was pretty darn impressed with that. Plus, she's even liked some of my tweets & interacted on Twitter a bit. Those are some great gals if you ask me.
  16. Alright folks. I did my civic duty. I'm leaving to watch the fight. Enjoy!
  17. You still have time. For those that aren't watching, it still has not started. But all of the undercard bouts are over.
  18. Sal Palantonio specifically referenced problems in Florida.
  19. I heard that, but I was in the kitchen. There's still time latecomers. THE fight hasn't started yet.
  20. They're still dealing with how the undercard ended.
  21. For those monitoring the thread, it appears that the link I have is pretty reliable. Again, just hit me up. The fight has not started yet - you still have time (the last undercard is going on currently)
  22. Okay cool. Just trying to look out man. If anyone else needs a hand, just reply. I'm keeping the thread tab open.
  23. Try VIPbox. That's who I'm using (I got the fight on now in a private tab) Private message me for the link, since I don't know if its cool for me to just post it in here.
  24. Say, where did the Twitter Handles thread go?  I wanted to update my new one.  Is this even a thing anymore?

      Diehard Otis

Sorry!  Disregard.  It was staring me right in the face.

  25. This is where I am on The Offense's struggles. And it's fair to say that Jay Gruden's teams start slow (hell, he's never Won a Season Opener, right?) I won't say I'm thrilled about it. But it could be that these guys are working out the kinks here during the Preseason. If nothing else, we know Gruden's Offense works. As I see it, he's earned the benefit of the doubt. Of course that's easier to say 2 days removed from the game. ----------------------------------------------------- But truthfully, what I've learned is that we are an entirely separate class of team with Jordan Reed in the fold. I'm not sure how 'dangerous' a Washington Redskins Team is without him in The Lineup. That's truly troubling.
