  1. My sons are 23 and 21 years old. They'd kill for 3 years of success! Hell, even two years back to back would be nice. They've been to 7 games in the last 15 years. Not once have the witnessed the WFT win in person. So, just to go to a game where their team won for a change would be amazing! It's like some of you guys have no idea what franchise you're rooting for. You're like those old dudes at the bar in their frosted fifties mocking the 30 to 40 year olds because you think you can pull a gal like Scarlett Johannson.
  2. The Seahawks, Raiders, and Cowboys all run the old Seattle 3 high umbrella defense with lots of zone players in the middle to force you to run the ball or hold it to find shots in the middle. Yeah, they may mix it up occasionally but mostly they sit in that zone and dare the QB to be perfect or risk getting the ball tipped or hold it for the sack. Like Washington, they play a crap ton of zone to keep everything in front of them. I dunno what you were looking at but the Raiders were in zone most of the day. Which is why Turner kept running the ball and throwing screens. You can't attack that scheme vertically. You have to attack it horizontally. The gameplan was effective on the first drive. But yesterday the WFT missed McKissic as the change up back. Then there was a couple of missed opportunities like the play to Samuel on the screen. (He's still trying to find his game legs I think.) KDawg is on the money about pressure. It was consistent enough to bother any QB. I think it's funny when couch coaches complain when a QB who has been getting knocked around like a ping pong ball doesn't stand tall on every single play. Even when there's no pressure, a QB who has been hit a lot will sense it coming and their mental clock will speed up. It's not so much that they're afraid of getting hit. It's more that they don't want to be sacked so their timing speeds up. Hell, it even happened to Tom Brady. Twice vs the Giants. Thanks to Allen, Payne, and Ionnaidas, it happens to a lot of opposing QBs as well.
  3. You don't think Turner wants that? The problem he has is that he can't keep Thomas and Samuel on the field. The defense locks up McLaurin with double teams. Gibson can only do so much. Who are you going to scheme for to get you in the end zone? They need more weapons. A big bodied receiver should be a priority next year. A player other than Thomas who can win 50/50 balls Don't forget, no McKissic to spell Gibson today either.
  4. Statistically no. But as far as patience and discipline this was a really good game. Dan Quinn has perfected that three deep Seattle Umbrella defense. It's a very frustrating defense because they take away the downfield shots. With three deep defenders pretty much the whole game you have to be very patient. They also zone up a lot so you have to find the holes. The defense keeps everything in front and rally's to the ball. A lot of QB's lose patience and try to force throws. Then, someone gets a hand on the ball and this brand of defense gets a lot of tip picks. The one today was all Crosby though. He's a stud. I thought Heinicke was very patient and took what was there. Ideally, you'd like a little more out of your running game vs that defense. I think the offense was wearing the Raiders Defense out until that pick gave them life. There was the interception that almost cost them but look how many the WFT defense got their hands on Wilson's passes last week and didn't make the catch. Every QB has throws they'd like back. Especially Stetson Bennett from Georgia! Heinicke made plays with his legs too to keep the Raiders offense off the field. He just keeps moving the chains. His elusiveness is top 3 I think in the NFL. It's amazing what he is able to do in a dirty pocket. He didn't have a lot of time today. Back foot throws are not what you want but sometimes you have no choice. That was the case today. Raiders got a good push. They're a good team. Mentally, Taylor Heinicke is a top ten QB. The way he comes back from a mistake and the way he responds when under pressure is damned impressive. That quality cannot be overlooked. It's way more important than arm strength.
  5. I think it's a lack of big targets. The field is really condensed when you're in the redzone. For pass plays, advantage goes to the defense. Unless you have someone to throw 50/50 balls to like Thomas. It was great to have him while it lasted. Sucks that this team can never seem to find that unicorn receiver. The big guy that can make catches in the end zone and stay healthy!
  6. It's telling that you make such a definitive statement without giving Heinicke the benefit of a whole season's sample size. When many in your camp can't wait to come here to tamp down enthusiasm because the sample size is too small.
  7. Man, that's one helluva a concussion he must have had. That sucks. He would be nice to put on Evans when we meet the Buccs in the NFC east championship.
  8. Washington Football Team Signs Notable Fullback (msn.com) Listed as 6'2" 255 lbs. He's definitely a banger. May be what the team needs to compliment Gibson for power runs. Mostly used as a blocker. Alex Armah Stats, News and Video - RB | NFL.com
  9. Somebody must have mentioned the "no air" technique of keeping the ball tight to his body. I saw him after one run clutching the ball tight to his ribs as a reminder. Good coaching! I usually call him The Gibson among my family. But the Oline and TE's that are willing and able blockers deserve credit too. How about Gibson and the Destroyers? Maybe one of you millennials could come up with a highlight video of GIbson, Oline, and TEs dominating defenses and set it to George Thorogood and the Destroyers' Bad to the bone? Thorogood's signature guitar was a Gibson ES-125TDC. I just think that what the Oline, TEs, and Gibson are doing really deserves some publicity. They're special.
  10. I really like Patterson but he seems too light to be a power back and doesn't have the ball skills to be occupy McKissic's role.
  11. As I mentioned before, Gibson is starting to see things develop before they materialize. On the play where he split his linemen for a nice gain in the past he would've tried to get to the edge. He's developing a nasty streak to him; which I love! Wagner will be sore today! He wasn't wolfing at Gibson in that 4th quarter. Pity that big run got taken away. If Scherff just keeps his hands inside he'd have been okay. Or at least thrown his hands up. Does anyone have the clip where Gibson trucked the DB and then the DB - who was obviously concussed - celebrated like he was the hitter instead of the hittee? That was awesome! I hope he has some mojo vs the cowpies. Those were two of his better games last season if I remember correctly. Especially the bye bye run. Zeke the king of NFC east RBs is dead and Barkley just isn't the same player any more. Gibson is king now. Hail to the King baby!
  12. Yeah, probably so. Forrest must be way behind mentally. I haven't even checked on Free Safeties coming out of college. Anyone know who the top 5 are?
  13. All this team really needs is a rangy Free Safety with some height and speed. That's the only glaring weakness that I can see. Lockett blew by McCain and Everett had a huge brain cramp for the last TD. How's BSJ? Still in concussion protocol? With his ball skills and height it would really be interesting to see him back at Free Safety. Maybe he wouldn't get hurt so much. He isn't very thick so Free Safety seems like a better fit for him. The biggest issue would be making the calls for the DBs.
  14. Add in the Eagles with Nick Foles who can't seem to find a starting job in the NFL. He was a gamer on an insanely talented eagles team. He also got very hot in the playoffs and made some gutsy throws in the SuperBowl vs NE.
  15. I agree. That was a test your manhood game and the Offense squared up like a boss. Did you see Wagner in the fourth after Gibson and the Oline bludgeoned him and his defense? He was holding his arm lol. Last night was not about style. It was about rising to the level of your opponent's intensity. Seattle was desperate. Last night they were fighting for their season. I love the fact that the WFT has enough heart and nastiness to punch a bully in the mouth. That game will pay dividends later. Teams will begin to fear the WFT rushing attack now. Guess what that leaves open? Play action! With Thomas and Samuel back, along with Scary Terry, we should see some really nice shot plays dialed up in the future. True, Heinicke played with a dirty pocket almost the entire game. It's good that he can survive in that atmosphere. But there weren't many times that he could just get thru his reads in comfort. Again, Seattle was desperate. Today, they're going to be talking about rebuilds and the draft. They played hard but the WFT Oline and rest of the offense met their intensity and raised the ante.
  16. Getting Thomas back will help. The Heinicke to Thomas bromance almost paid off last night. Woulda been a tough catch but it is the NFL and those contested catches have to be made. I'd bet on Thomas securing the next one that comes his way.
  17. There was no pressure in Wilson's face on that play either. In fact, he had a running start so he could put his body into it. Let's not forget that Everett had a brain cramp and forgot his assignment. That should have been a deep cover 3 with him taking the middle. Dunno why in the hell he hesitated. What I got from that play and another where McCain almost tripped on himself trying to carry Lockett across the field amplifies my petition for a legit Free Safety who can cover sideline to sideline. That to me is the number one position of need in the draft next year.
  18. I don't think that's a good comp. If you surround Heinicke with the talent Alex Smith had around him you'll see more big plays. Alex was check-down charlie if his first option (Hill or Kelce) were covered. Heinicke can get thru progressions very quickly.
  19. And I would add elite escapability to TAYLOR Heinicke's resume. His ability to get out of trouble is really special. That's not something you can drill effectively. Taylor is not a poor man's Russell Wilson anymore. He's a younger Russell Wilson.
  20. He who should not be named was more destructive for the franchise than Cerrato. Who just cost the team $. All Rattler has is a cool name. He's not NFL material. Couldn't even hold off a freshman. I highly doubt he'll end up at USC with Riley.
  21. Or a Safety to pair with Kam Curl. That would be #1 on my shopping list.
  22. Hmm, transaction trends really has Heinicke ascending. Stafford is my QB now but if Heinicke can play well today I may stash him just in case. Stafford is either playing hurt or feeling the pressure. He cost the Rams big time last night. I like Sean McVay and Lefleur. Lefleur is in a better spot. If the Rams gamble (mortgaging their future for a SuperBowl) doesn't pay off they could be bad for a while. They're not a scary team right now without Robert Woods. If the WFT can get some skills players back on offense, no team in the NFC scares me.
  23. ROFL @ Slapfight! Comedic genius Spaceman! That's exactly what it was!
