  1. The weapons that Peyton Manning had during his time at Indianapolis alone were stellar. He had some really, really good receivers like Harrison, Wayne, Clark, Stokley and Pollard. The Bears should have fixed their issues 2 years ago. And yes, they have a decent WR1 they added for 2023. And Field's was super reliant on him this year. Over 1,000 yards, and 6 TD's in 12 games.
  2. Very good points regarding what a very good QB can do. Burrow in compensation for the **** O line had some key offensive weapons. Not taking anything away from him, but you need help. If the Bears fixed or even upgraded their O line and got some more O weapons for whoever is under center, they would improve tremendously.
  3. The only problem with moving away from him is that between years 1-3 the O line play was horrendous. In some games he was under pressure a mind blowing 50% of the time even as a dual-threat QB. All three years they failed to address their O line issues. I would also argue that the talent around him especially at WR was poor until year 3 when they acquired DJ Moore. All QB's need talent to succeed in the NFL; they also need good schemes and coaching that plays to their strengths. Hopefully that is why they shook up their staff on Offense. Until a team cleans up its deficiencies, especially with regards to key pieces, like O line efficiency, you're just not going to get stellar, let alone consistently good QB play. So, if they go off and draft Caleb Williams, or Maye, they better have their O line issues worked out and have some more talent for him to throw to.
  4. This might sound strange but think about this. Remember when Pederson was stuck dealing with Foles as his QB after Wentz went down? Did he turn around and design plays based upon Wentz's strengths and then foist it upon Foles? No. He designed plays that highlighted Foles strengths while getting the best out of his whole O unit. And they won a Superbowl, in part because he was flexible IMO. So, when I look at the Bear's or any team for that matter, if you know you drafted a decent QB, you have to play to their strengths and put them in a position to win. And that means sometimes shaking things up.
  5. 100%. Why would you dump Fields? You know what you have. Sure, get a new OC, design things to Fields strengths. Even get a QB coach, but then yes in the draft, you go and pick up Harrison.
  6. So, this looks like a small sampling of what respected posters on here have been talking about in terms of Williams sometimes shaky mechanics. But in his defense, he is under a lot of pressure in some of these, others not so much. He does not set his feet well, at least in this small sampling, even when he is not under pressure. This is some real average tape on the guy, and even some of those receptions, not the best throws I have ever seen. But clearly Joe, purposively went after these to make a point. Still, I wonder, if maybe this year the Commanders will invest in a QB coach to work with their rookie QB especially if they keep Howell around, him as well. I can't help but notice that Patrick Mahomes has a QB coach that has worked with him pretty much since his rookie year to work with him - Kafka and now Nagy.
  7. Given all the time we have between now and the draft I appreciate dissenting opinions. I do not like his take on Williams. The guy throws a very nice deep ball, makes solid off script plays when necessary and looks like a solid 1st round QB. And frankly issues with his teammates might be overblown. I saw him after the Bowl game with a highly supportive, genuine gesture towards Moss. They looked like they had a very good relationship. But is he better then Daniels? And do we relegate Daniels to #3, because he might be a "one year wonder?"
  8. I still think Chicago should keep him and work it out, so they get MHJ.
  9. I am a huge Penix fan. But this is below pedestrian in terms of QB play. He does not look right to me. Could be the pressure. Could be anything. His passes have been off. His mechanics are bad. He looks wobbly. Usually, he is very accurate. They have played from behind a lot this year. Anyway, it is disappointing. Probably is going to slip into the 2nd round.
  10. Washington is usually not. They throw the ball a lot. Penix is usually accurate. His RB is hurt. He does not look 100%. Both D's have stepped up this half. And Michigan is effectively getting pressure and so are the Huskies.
  11. Yeah, I thought he was completely healthy. Something happened. Because he is not. He is definitely tumbling into the 2nd round.
  12. Me. I was. I was selling him as my #3. .Well he is playing like ****.
  13. He definitely was not expecting that question. Hey coach what were you thinking when you gave all your momentum to Washington? Thing is Washington has played from behind a lot this year. So, I guess he got a little tongue-tied.
  14. I have watched Penix a lot this year and he is playing like ****. That pass hardly redeems him.
  15. Solid points. The conference you play in, your competition is key IMO because it is a reflection of what you can do on the next level. It may not be everything but if you come out of such a competitive conference with those numbers and win the Heisman, it is not just a one-year wonder. And guys that want to play on the next level need to show improvement throughout their college playing years. I like Daniel's a great deal.
  16. Geez that organization with Tepper is the new clown show in the NFL. He is impatient, meddles in player decisions. It is like his little toy.
  17. Jayden Daniels is my first choice, followed by Williams, and then Penix. Daniels can add muscle to his frame to get stronger. I am sure Washington will add an excellent strength and conditioning coach, as they overhaul the organization. You know all of them can be busts in the NFL. There is so much to consider. We all know about Penix's injury history. After his extensive injury history, he moved into an excellent strength and conditioning regimen and added considerable muscle to his frame while with the Huskies. NO injuries in two years. That is important. And the reason he is 24 is because he has used all his eligibility allowance to get to where he is now. He was smart to return to school. The guy can make ALL the throws, is very athletic, but he chooses to stay in the pocket and throw downfield. But he has the wheels if he needs to use them. He has an excellent O line. If he shows out tonight, he will get picked up closer to the top 10 IMO. Who gives a damn if he is 24 if he can give us 10-11 years of excellent play and some Championships.
  18. He has had a lot of injuries, not just the ACL's. But he has not been injured in over 2 years. I think he will definitely go in the first if he turns out against Michigan the way he did against Texas. He is going to shoot up that board. He is a 1st round pick. We will not take him though. I agree with the majority of the posters that will either be Williams or Maye.
  19. He has not been injured in over 2 years. He has also put on 20 lbs. of muscle. His conditioning is night and day with Washington to what it was in Indiana when he had those injuries. He has an incredible arm, and he is accurate. He can make all the throws intermediate, and long. And he has the wheels to get out of trouble. I like him a lot. And if not him, Daniels. BUT with that said, I am pretty sure they will go Williams or Maye.
  20. The Pukes should be up 21-7. They are ridiculous. They should we wiping the floor with our practice squad starters.
  21. I want the Cowgirls to question themselves after today. Let them win by 3 points and sweat it to the end!
  22. Yes. And there is the offense of EB that we know and are depending on for this game.
