I know it's been said and lamented over but hoo boy, those Rivera drafts really do hurt. A fourth round pick for Braeden Daniels? I completely forgot about him!

Can't wait to see what AP and Lance Newmark can do with the picks after 1.02

Yup as bad as Ron was as a HC he was considerably worse as a GM

Just take JJ or Maye. This guy clearly would prefer not to be here. How many times did Caleb have to say he was okay going to Chicago. Once by my recollection and it never came up again, seems like JD is clearly trying to put out smoke he’d rather not be here without coming across like a total diva.

I’ve seen two different quotes of him saying he will be happy wherever he goes.  Some don’t want to listen and want to keep stirring this up as there isn’t much else to talk about.  That’s who is trying to “put out smoke”.  Can’t wait for Thursday night.

I can only pray the Giants draft JJ. He is Daniel Jones 2.0. Would just be too good.

any Giants QB looks like a world beater against us though, let’s be real

Good point.  It doesn’t typically even matter who the giants have at QB.  They dominate us regardless lol.  Why are we even debating or worrying about who they might get.

Maye is gonna own us for the next decade while Daniels flounders around on IR.

Daboll won’t last another year let alone a decade.  If Giants land Maye they will have to pay up

to move those 3 spots and they have no weapons for Maye nor an Oline.  I’m not as worried as you.  But then I like both prospects.

I don’t, necessarily. The best get it wrong and a blind squirrel finds a nut.

I currently trust that we have a plan. I think putting it on someone so much that we think he can see the future is unhealthy.

Oh, I know the best get it wrong.  But I trust GMAPs ability (and chance) to make the right choice more than my own or fans here.  You don’t.  That’s fine.

Obviously I don’t expect Peters to see the future, but this draft is on him.  That in my opinion is on the shoulders of the GM more than anyone else.  We can disagree but it’s why I was happy they hired him over other options.

Trade the 2nd overall to get another 1st, use it for JJ and Brock Bowers.

    I'll shut up now.

Reports are that Raiders offered “a lot” to move up.  No idea what “a lot” means.  Wish we had a crystal ball could very well be that JJ and Bowers end up in the HOF.  Who knows.  Unfortunately we don’t have a crystal ball… just GMAP.  It’s his job to try to see the future.  I’m trusting his ability a lot more than mine or anyone else’s here.

I thought that was KB who was here for Bates?

Could be.  But He went to BSU (Boise State).  Seen him play a few times.  Was friends with my son who played Hockey for BSU.

Actually Ive been a fan of the Skins since early 80s and around here for nearly 20 years..  But also a Bates fan.

Really Really like the fact that they are solid at staying put.  To me it means they are locked in and sold on their guy.  They are confident with the pick.  I think that player is Daniels and Im as excited as ever!  If it turns out to be Maye I'll also be all in.  Either way Im glad that they seem to be set at who they want.

It's really not a conspiracy it's a fact they are pushing for us to take Daniels at 2 , do you have different channels that I don't?  If it was up to most of them, the card would already be turned in.

I Must have missed it.  Who is "they" and why are "they" wanting us to take Daniels so badly?  Just to be right so their mocks are correct?  I guess I don't buy some agenda where so many anonymous scouts, coaches and members of the media want Washington to take Daniels at all costs. What would be the reason?

    No surprise but still.

They love someone.  Exciting.  While I lean Daniels I like Maye also.  Looking forward to Thursday and opening day where I will be happily rooting for whomever they take at #2.

Unless it's JJ.  If thats the pick Im done. *joke*

  11. Listening to Sheehan.  Great listen with Cooley on Maye.  Miss hearing Cooley on a more regular basis - perhaps Im in the minority there but I always thought he was a good and smart listen.

Anyway, Sheehan also just replayed the audio on Maye when he was asked about top golf.  Maye comes across as a good dude and a legit great character guy.  Anyway, he (Sheehan) seemed to speculate that perhaps the reason that Jayden's agent was a little annoyed is because JD wasn't a golfer and had never swung a club before.  Made me wonder... Perhaps the team does indeed lean Daniels and this was a way for them to see him in a situation where he would not be as good as the others.  Swinging a golf club for the first time is an awkward and possibly embarrassing thing especially if surrounded by decent golfers.  By all accounts Daniels is super competitive and just maybe Peters, Quinn etc. wanted to see how he would react when he was put in a no win position.  I know Im reading to much into this but im trying to avoid work.

The Ben Johnson situation isn't really comparable. We probably would have hired him if he didn't blow off the live interview.

You really think so?  I think they had Quinn over Johnson.  Maybe they were just suggesting that after the fact but it really seemed to me that Quinn was the guy they wanted all a long.  His experience, leadership, relationships with players and other coaches etc. etc.

Again, I realize it could be a situation where after the pick, the guy they got is touted as the person they coveted all along.

I'd be really interested to see if there is an age skew to our QB preferences.  My speculation (with ZERO data to back this up.... so don't ask) is that older fans prefer Drake Maye and younger fans prefer Jayden Daniels.  It feels like Drake Maye fits the older prototypical QB mold that everyone used to look for - a player with tools that can grow into a high upside ceiling.  Daniels seems to fit the more recent mold of many successful QBs.

Again.... all of this is just speculative

Interesting... Could be.  though I lean Daniels and Im an old(er) white guy.  Ive read some annoying arguments (not here) that many are basing their preference because of race which is a tired and in my opinion annoying argument as it relates to this draft decision and thats all Ill say about that here before I get in trouble.

If they pick Jayden and he busts, and Maye goes on to succeed, that's going to be it for me.  So they better be right if they do.

What if they pick Maye and he busts and Daniels goes on to succeed?  Would that be it for you too?

Odds are pretty high that at least one of the top 3 will bust.  I like all three top QB prospects.  I actually think all three are legit starters four years from now.  I personally lean Daniels after preferring Maye a couple months ago.  Am I the only one in this thread that is going to be happy on Thursday?  Seems like it.
