It was a non-contact injury, it had nothing to do with running or not running. Could’ve easily happened just running a bootleg. Not like a defender violently dove into the side of his knee while he ran downfield or something.

My immediate take was maybe it's a good thing we haven't played Chase Young yet lol...not anything to do with Heinicke running.

Commanders coach Ron Rivera’s decision to stick with Taylor Heinicke with four weeks left in the season and a showdown with the Giants looming Sunday night virtually assures that Wentz will be a free agent in March.

Wentz’s current contract includes a $20 million base for 2023, and a $5 million roster bonus that’s due in mid-March. That means the Commanders will need to make a decision on Wentz by then and, seeing as he’s not even starting anymore, it’s a good bet that decision will be to release him at that time.

Where Wentz goes from there will be interesting, since he doesn’t fit the traditional mold for an NFL backup quarterback. It feels like it’d almost have to be with a team bringing him in to be the placeholder for a high draft pick, like Sam Bradford once was for him.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Wentz is active the rest of the season...and then TH is injured the last game of the season and Wentz comes off the bench as the backup to win the Super Bowl lol...

I wouldn't expect Purdy to continue playing like he has, it could happen but the Bucs are really bad, worst Brady lead team I've seen in his entire career.

I tend to agree as well...Doesn't really mean much about him, it's just that consistency for a QB is damn hard to achieve in the NFL, especially for a 7th round rookie.

I think we are in if we beat the Giants & Browns. 9 wins will get us at least the 7th seed.  Beating the 49ers and/or Cowboys would be bonus wins and possible nab us a higher seed.  If they lose to either the Giants or Browns then they have to go and win a game they're definitely going to be underdogs going into.  The Cowboys could be resting some starters Week 18 which could help the cause.

Would love for us to win out and for Dallas to lose out...we would most likely play the Bucs in the wildcard round if that happened.

It's not like Heinicke is lighting it up behind the Oline either, nor is he really being any kind of duel threat with his legs necessarily...

He keeps pass plays alive with his legs...it could be that the coaches prefer that to bailing on the play and taking off running.

I know (or at least I think I know lol) that Rivera and Turner (and even TH himself) have said he should basically take off running more, but it might not be the issue with them as it is with fans.

Just a guess - but I’m guessing he’s driving clicks and he’s doing it, in part, to drive traffic etc.

He drives clicks just by saying "My shoe is untied" lol...Elon has millions of followers who all seem to jump at the chance to like whatever he says and (they hope) interact with him. He's not floating moronic--and dangerous--conspiracy theories simply to generate extra clicks.

To be fair, Mahomes has been able to pay for a place to live all on his own since he came into the league. Though I bet his sister has an even nicer couch these days than heinie's sis.

Fortunately heinie had a friend at one of the most sadass franchises owned by a historically sadass creep and now has some nifty new sneakers and can definitely pay his own rent.

    😲🤐😬😝🤓

Sooo....male and don't live with their sisters? lol...

I don't know how many of you are on Twitter but here's my take on the Musk backlash there:

SO many users complain endlessly about him but don't leave the platform. Some of them claim they are "fighting the power" by staying but the only effective way they can hurt him is to leave. Twitter would be absolutely crippled by a true exodus. IMO it only exposes the amount of people who are addicted to tweeting.

I stay on Twitter because I like it and I don't get offended by the nonsense he posts but these people who claim everyday, all day to be offended simply don't just leave. Boggles my mind.

    - The overwhelming majority of people who say they are against Elon's offensive ramblings are not saying they're gonna leave.

    - There are actually a lot of people checking out different platforms--I've been one of them due to hearing about several while on Twitter.

    - As of now, it's still a rather good source for getting news (especially sports news), which means that more than Elon's idiotic tweets is needed to see any mass exodus.

    - Calling out Elon's ego-stroking moves seems better than pretending they don't exist...I enjoy seeing the very real criticisms to his asinine comments.

    - Seeing advertisers, employees, and extremely popular public figures do their own version of a "mass exodus" probably placates people to a certain extent.

    - Seeing Elon's minions having their poorly thought-out arguments decimated by user after user is almost relaxing lol...

I posted this in thj game day thread but probably better here. Updated to refelct Seattle's loss.

Ok, becasue I had to - Washington PO picture: with 2 spots up fro grabs from really 4 teams:

    Seatle - 7-6  Games remaining -

49ers (Home) - Cheifs (Away) - Jets (Home) - Ram (Home)  - Could easily go 1-3. Get to 9-8 put them in play but could also easily go 2-2. 10-7 and they are in as it appears they likely own the tie-breaker - common games unless we beat the 49ers. The trie hurts as they beat NY. They control thier own PO spot, even if they lose to Carolina but they have some tough games left. Not an easy road.

As kleese pointed out before, tiebreakers don't play any role against Seattle unless they end up tying one of their remaining games as well. If not, they need to win one more game than we do--if we go 2-2 the rest of the way Seattle has to go 3-1 in order to get in ahead of us.

No, you’re right.  395 yards in less than 6 quarters with    four TDs and one rushing is pretty pedestrian.

Since you are hellbent on not including all of his play, I'll just focus on a segment of his play as well: first game was just over 200 yards, an INT, and a measly 5.7 yards per attempt. Most of their points came off of field goals and a defensive TD. And his 2 TDs were both 3 yard passes.

    Meh.

With the Chat GPT stuff being so popular I asked the AI to make a Commanders fight song and include the phrase left hand up. 😂 This is what it made:

I tried singing it to the tune of Hail To The Redskins and pulled a muscle around the 2nd verse lol...

Count me in on the “not so fast” group preferring to go to Minnesota over SF. I 100% agree that the 49ers are better/more talented team than Vikings. But SF IS starting a third-string rookie QB and we have a VERY stout defense. They may have also lost Deebo. In addition, the Dome is a more difficult road environment in general.

We will see how it all shakes out— by that time, perhaps I’d be on board preferring Minny as well, but I don’t think it’s an open and shut case. Kirk + JJ is a very tough task.

Yeah, a lot of people (not necessarily here) are acting as if it's not possible for a 7th round rookie to regress as more teams study his tape and game plan for him, not to mention how difficult it is to play at a consistent level from week to week to week. I'd be less worried about facing Purdy and an injured (or possibly missing) Deebo in 2 weeks than playing against Cousins and Jefferson in 5 weeks.
