My point was the "consensus" isnt the best most of the time. And I dont really care what the consensus says regardless. I care about finding a ****ing franchise QB. That is all that matters in the NFL.

??…You focused on “I didn’t say ‘best’ “ and the big difference between “best available QB” and “best QB”. Not agreeing with the consensus didn’t seem to be part of your argument, just that someone was misstating what you said.

…And that is why you ALWAYS take the best QB available at two.

But he wasn’t the consensus best available QB.  Tua was.

Did I say best? Where did I say best? If you have the second pick you take a QB. Period. End of story.

Yes.  Yes, you did. “And that is why you ALWAYS take the best available QB at two.”

Best available is not the best. Big difference.

Ball Security CLEARLY said you said “best available QB” and not “best QB”…what are you talking about? lol…

We lose to Cleveland next week!  We should be eliminated!   If we can’t figure out a way to win games to get to the playoffs!  Than we just plainly don’t deserve to be a part of it!

Doesn’t that logic apply to the Lions, Packers, Seahawks and Giants as well? What if we all lose next week? After all, 4 of the 5 WC hopefuls lost this week. Would any of them deserve to be in the playoffs more than the Commanders?

Just win two games. That's it. We don't have to worry about anyone else. Win two home games, one against a team below .500 who is eliminated and the other a team that likely has nothing to play for, and we're in.

If you can't manage to win 9 games you don't deserve to get in anyway.

Someone earlier on this thread (kleese?) mentioned retiring the “if we can’t (fill in the blank), we don’t deserve the playoffs” argument. I agree with them.

Its remarkable if you think about it. Most coaches don't survive four seasons without figuring out the QB position long term, but Rivera will. I'm not saying he deserves to be fired, he's done a good job rebuilding our team, but its just kinda crazy.

I imagine most coaches who don’t survive 4 seasons without figuring out the QB position ended up sticking with the wrong QB for most of those seasons…and may not be contending for the playoffs in any of those seasons. I don’t know this for sure lol, just guessing.

I, for one, am ready to see Wentz pull a Reverse Nick Foles and lead this team to a Super Bowl!

Quick release, play action, threatening all levels of the field and letting the run game do its thing with a legitimately good defense playing complementary football!

    Commies Country, let’s ride!

I (half jokingly) made the same comment about Wentz coming off the bench and leading the team to the Super Bowl about *47 pages ago lol…when he was inserted into the game yesterday I literally laughed and said “Oh ****, it’s happening” lol…

Theres 2 dudes with a z in there name and the other one is that miserable guy

are you doing your annoying thing or being serious?

    you're not being serious.

That still doesn’t clear things up lol…who’s the other “z” guy? What does Payne’s father have to do with anything? Why are we going down a dark alley? Why am I even included?…my World War Z explanation made more sense lol.

Why? We don't live in the dark ages anymore. We have zoom or Teams.

Ok so you’re the “z” he referred to in his post lol…embarrassed to say I immediately though “World War Z” and tried to figure out if alluding to me as “Califan Z” and a dark alley had anything to do with the movie and why Payne’s dad would be there lol…

You z and Darons dad should talk in a long dark alley.

I have no idea what that means lol…

They apparently loved what they saw from Chase in that short stint, just short of a 90 which is their grade of elite play

I wouldn’t say that. Washington had TWO weeks to put a stranglehold on a playoff spot and failed miserably. We still control our own destiny, but we still have the Lions and Seahawks nipping at their heels. Losing those last two games has made the last two weeks must wins because I doubt the Lions lose both of their last two games.

I said “almost” lol…but the main point I was getting at was that we were previously saying we could clench a wildcard against the Browns…if all the teams fighting for a wildcard spot this weekend lose, securing a playoff spot against the Browns is still possible. And 4 weeks ago people said “I doubt the Lions lose any of their last 4 games.”

Can’t speak for VoR, but for me - I’d be fine with him as a backup.  The type of backup that immediately concedes the position back to the starter the moment the starter is healthy, no matter the record.  No more illusions of grandeur for an extended stay.

Me exactly…don’t care about the new shoes after each win or what it means for him to be starting after sleeping on his sister’s couch lol…but he does seem to at least understand his role and place as a backup and appears comfortable in that role. Both he and Wentz seemed like they are team-first players. No sulking or distractions or any drama from either of them.

47 pages ago was only December 16th.  I checked.  Honestly, that's not that impressive.  Now if you had said it ... 134 pages ago, on October 23rd, that would have been a lot more impressive.

    :P

(Also, for the record, I never wanted to see Heinicke ever play, and even after he started winning, while I conceded you don't miss with something that's working, I never wanted to see him plan.  Like ever.  So I guess I wanted to see Wentz again by default.  Or Howell.  Or ... literally any other QB who is not infuriatingly limited.)

Heinicke did what a good backup is supposed to do: keep the season from derailing while the starter is sidelined. If they make the playoffs it’s gonna be largely because of how the team played while he was starting, and he didn’t really do much during that time to keep them from winning. But these last 3 games showed his “moxie” tank was empty, even though he played well for the most part this last game. But he hasn’t overcome bad luck and bad play in like a month.
