  1. Do you have a source for this? If I recall correctly, Shanahan was dailed in on Jones and Lance and ultimately chose Lance. What are the respective hit percentages of those teams vs the Niners? (I have no idea, just curious) Every draft room has lot of hits and misses. It is almost impossible for the average fan to trace who is responsible for which pick.
  2. I think it's very difficult for fans to know who's responsible for what draft/fa/trade decisions. I think we are largely relying on reporting on the candidates' industry reputation
  3. I'm sure Cunningham and Cook are very much legitimate candidates, but it can't be a coincidence that both are being interviewed before Peters. If the brain trust feels like Peters is the guy, they would be in a position to immediately seal the deal.
  4. Can we stop with the commenting on the appearance of a player's girlfriend?
  5. So Michigan didn't steal signs and break recruiting rules?
  6. I don't see the Burrow comparison that much. Burrow's scouting coming out was superb decision making, accuracy, and great anticipation but somewhat limited arm strength (by NFL standards). Maye has arm strength in spades and there's not a throw on the field he can't make. He also shows traits of good anticipation, but sometimes he just blanks over easy open early option receivers. He also has a lot of work to do with his footwork. If Maye can approach even 90% of Burrow's decision making/accuracy/consistency and combine it with his arm strength, he is going to be a superstar in the NFL. But that's the developmental guesswork part that requires a lot of evaluation.
  7. I'm on board with taking a QB at 2. But I'm saying there's a lot more evaluation that needs to be done to determine who that QB should be.
  8. Having the potential to be a franchise QB doesn't necessarily mean that prospect is worthy of being drafted #2. Maye may be worth the 2nd pick, he may not be. I think we're early in the draft/scouting process, so lots more to come from many different sources.
  9. Of everyone involved tonight, the worst looking bunch is Washington's coaching staff. They did nothing to change up what was not working against Michigan and when it's clear that their line cannot handle Michigan's pressure, it's the same send everyone long and leave the line and QB hanging to get pummeled. And now with the game clearly over and Penix looking beaten and hurt, they are risking this kid's health with the same tired play calls that hasn't worked all night.
  10. So this was touched upon in two parts of the Q&A. In one of his answers, he talked about how availability of talent may factor into the schedule and how they may need to move quickly. Then Svruluga posed the direct question of how he views the HoFOP's role in hiring the coach and this was the answer: Then he added that as he said before other considerations may influence the timeline. It may not be a total hands off, let the GM hire the coach approach that I used to see as the healthy normal NFL operations, but then I realized that even in normal NFL franchises, the final decision on the coaching hire is probably at least signed off by ownership. Anyway, that's what I gleamed today on that subject.
  11. Damn man, I'm sure the current end of an era is a downer, but for a GSW fan to trash Myers is a bit much isn't it? I mean the organization could have headed in a totally different direction if Myers didn't hire Kerr, kept Klay, or drafted Draymond.
  12. Would be really interesting to see (and exciting I think) a HC like Ben Johnson with Maye. Johnson has his team playing such sound fundamental football and that's exactly the type of coaching Maye would need in the NFL. He has a great arm and a lot of good to great physical tools, but you see inconsistencies that's going to need improvement (like all college QBs), especially his footwork. I think just by ironing out his fundamentals, Maye would be in a good position to elevate his game in the NFL.
  13. I wonder if he'll take questions? One question I have after reading the press release is whether the Head of Football Ops is choosing the head coach or if he is. The press release makes it sound like he is (and if Myers reached out to Yee before a new Head of Football Ops is in place). Not sure if that matters, but seems counter to the hire the GM and let the GM hire the coach thought process.
  14. Chaos. But if Cards lose, they get pick 2. If Cards win too, then I believe it's us and Giants for picks 2 and 3.
  15. It would be nice if Cards win, just so they are taken out of the pick order reshuffling for subsequent rounds, but if NO holds and we lose, pick 2 is secure.
