No matter what I do, I can’t get the color I’d prefer grilling over high heat on a pellet grill, even with 100% charcoal pellets.  Still tastes great though.

Filet seasoned with a mixture of Holy Cow, and Kinders Cowboy Butter and Caramelized Onion Butter rubs.  Onions, shrooms, and garlic finished with W sauce and garlic butter when they came off, and corn with roasted potatoes.

I really gotta start going to estate sales. 🤣

    Seriously.

There was an old bar in the basement.

I found it, in the box, behind  some cheap ****.

I offered the estate sale people $20.00 and they took it.

    😆

Huh.  I have a whole set of 'em that came on their own.  Dublin or Shannon or something irish-crystal.  I typically use 'em for whiskey, but for Scotch I use my Glencairns.

I mainly drink whiskey out of Glencairns too, but I like to use different glassware at times. No particular reason, except I like the way they look.

Right now I'm drinking Old Grandad Bottled-in-Bond out of this fancy glass.😉

    Does everybody own these glasses?

    Probably, especially with Scotch drinkers.

This one was gifted to me as part of a Woodford Reserve gift pack.

I re-gifted the whiskey, and kept the glass 😉

It was so good.  They only had a 375 and it's gone LOL.  I've never been a big JD guy but my whiskey buddy highly recommended the rye and this.  For the price point the SBBP is punching way above its weight class. Surprisingly not that hot for a barrel strength, very smooth going down.

Buddy said the rye is even better but it's not in my area anywhere :(.  Took me a lot of internet clicks to even find the regular SBBP close to me.

I'm fairly new to rye and was gonna pick up some Pikesville as my entry bottle.  Got any rye recommendations?

If you want another solid, barrel proof whiskey that flies under the radar and is very reasonably priced, pick up a bottle of Old Granddad 114.

Pikesville is a great choice. It's so good it may ruin you for other ryes.  There are a ton of them.  Off the top of my head?  Wild Turkey 101, Rare Breed,  Woodford Reserve, Old Forester, Old Overholt 114,  Knob Creek, Sazerac, Sagamore are all solid.   Mrs. Skinsfan likes Elijah Craig & Bulleit.     There are just way to many.

This is one of the best barrel-proofers on the market and one of my favorites. For whatever reason, it flies below the radar and is a bargain, as far as barrel proof whiskey goes.  You'd be hard pressed to find a better one at that price point.  I hope the folks at JD don't realize this and start jacking up the price, (pun fully intended), like Beam did years ago with the Booker's.  I have at least a case of different releases and barrel picks squirreled away.

Have you tried the rye?   It used to be hard to find, but it's getting easier and it's insanely good.

2 things I noticed last night that has been a consistent problem with this team.

    1. The power play - they have such trouble entering the zone.  I just don't get it because they are up a man.  They always either just dump it in or have someone coming in hot with the puck and other team just plucks it away.  It always seems like that happens and power plays get wasted away.  Even on the 5v3 this crap happens.  It makes no sense.  Then it's 5 on 5 and they get it in no problem.  Other teams get setup 5v4 on problem against us.  It makes no sense.

    2. They try to get too cute too often.  I saw this multiple times last night where they should have just flung it at the net for a shot but instead went for some fancy stupid extra pass and we lose possession.  Or they just try to do fancy stupid passes in general and turn it over.  It just annoys the hell out of me.

Agreed.......and #2 is a big one for us.

Mrs. Skinsfan & I scream "shoot!!" so much that we're going hoarse.

You didn't go down 7 pounds because you were restricted to soft foods and then later cold foods.

You lost 7 pounds because you are eating overall less calories than you were prior to losing weight.

It's the same thing with intermittent fasting.  People think it's some special thing because they are eating only during a period of 6 hours a day instead of over the whole day when they are awake.  It really has nothing to do with that. It's just that you are eating less in those 6 hours than you would over the whole day of being awake.

Again, this is not ****ing rocket science.  It's a tried and true formula that has been the same for centuries.

And "diet" isn't a special thing you do.  All "diet" means is what you are currently eating.

The problem with a lot of Americans is that they think "diet" is a temporary thing you do just to lose weight and then go back to eating like you were before.  Sure you can do that, but you will also put on the weight like before.  Having a consistent healthy diet is a lifestyle change basically and it's not temporary.  And splurging every now and then is okay too.

    EDIT:

I am down from 217lbs to 207lbs as of this morning since trying to cut up in early/mid February.  All I did was basically cut out the random junk foods and eating out that I was eating when I was trying to bulk up.  I still basically eat the same thing for dinner but maybe not quite as much rice as before.  Basically every dinner for me is some sort of protein and some rice right now.  I've lost 10lbs but have not lost any of my size and strength.

You are spot-on with the lifestyle change.

I've never understood why people overcomplicate weight loss.

Either you commit to eating sensibly & exercising, or you don't.

Fwiw 10 years end of life is the low end. Everything I've read is that the batteries last 10-20 years..approximately up to 200k miles.

I can only assume that Tesla and all other EV manufacturers are going to greatly improve battery life, replacement cost, and actual cost of creating the batteries moving forward.

    You would think.

One would also assume that there will be sufficient infrastructure to facilitate charging them before moving forward.

*Tesla model Y battery. It takes up all of the space under the passenger compartment of the car. To manufacture it you need:
--12 tons of rock for Lithium (can also be extracted from sea water)
-- 5 tons of cobalt minerals (Most cobalt is made as a byproduct of processing copper and nickel ores. It is the most difficult and expensive material to obtain for a battery.)
    -- 3 tons nickel ore
-- 12 tons of copper ore
You must move 250 tons of soil to obtain:
    -- 26.5 pounds of Lithium
    -- 30 pounds of nickel
    -- 48.5 pounds of manganese
    -- 15 pounds of cobalt
To manufacture the battery also requires:
-- 441 pounds of aluminum, steel and/or plastic
    -- 112 pounds of graphite
The Caterpillar 994A is used to move the earth to obtain the minerals needed for this battery. The Caterpillar consumes 264 gallons of diesel in 12 hours.
The bulk of necessary minerals for manufacturing the batteries come from China or Africa. Much of the labor in Africa is done by children. When you buy an electric car, China profits most.
The 2021 Tesla Model Y OEM battery (the cheapest Tesla battery) is currently for sale on the Internet for $4,999 not including shipping or installation. The battery weighs 1,000 pounds (you can imagine the shipping cost). The cost of Tesla batteries are:
    Model 3 -- $14,000+ (Car MSRP $38,990)
    Model Y -- $5,000–$5,500 (Car MSRP $47,740)
    Model S -- $13,000–$20,000 (Car MSRP $74,990)
    Model X -- $13,000+ (Car MSRP $79,990)
It takes 7 years for an electric car to reach net-zero CO2. The life expectancy of the battery is 10 years (average). Only in the last 3 years do you start to reduce your carbon footprint, but then the batteries must be replaced and you lose all gains made.
And finally, my new friend, Michael, made some excellent points: I forgot to mention the amount of energy required to process the raw materials and the amount of energy used to haul these batteries to the U.S. sometimes back and forth a couple of times.
But by all means, get an electric car. Just don't sell me on how awesome you are for the environment. Or for human rights.

Been forced to eat a lot of soft and cold foods lately so been using this opportunity to eat more yogurt.

The realization dawned upon me that I can use preserves and jam to mix that with yogurt and ice cream for mad flavors. So I buy tubs of plain or vanilla yogurt and mix jam with them for flavor.

Right now I am having plain yogurt with peach preserves mixed in. It's pretty good.

My almost daily breakfast is Fage plain 0% fat yogurt mixed with honey or strawberry preserves and granola.
