  1. I would never question the chops of Indy (or Miami). Both great teams. But you only have to play them a few times. In the West, you have to play OKC, and then San Antonio, and then the Clippers, and then the Warriors, and then the Rockets and then the Blazers, and then the Suns, and then the Mavericks, and then the Grizzlies. And then you start again... it never ends. Otherwise, you are wrong when you say that "defense in the West is systemically lousier than in the East." The defensive efficiency stats say that Indy is the best defense by far, but after that, the top teams are evenly split between East and West. Meanwhile the offensive efficiency of the West is overwhelmingly superior - only Miami from the East cracks the top 8, and only three teams from the East crack the top 14. And I would not "much much" rather play Indy than OKC. OKC is terrifying, top 5 in both offense and defense, and they will only be better when Westbrook returns.
  2. A lot, since they get to play one another. If East and West teams played each other 4 times a year rather than 2, there would be only 2 teams in the entire East at .500 or better at the end of the season. The disparity really is that big right now.
  3. Clippers thought they were so badazz... well guess what, the Dubs can curbstomp the 76ers just as badly thank you very much. And that's with all three Warriors centers injured and in street clothes.
  4. oh my god. That was like the Wrath of Khan parasite scene in reverse
  5. I don't agree. Tony Parker could score 25 points a game if he wanted to. He subsumes his game to make Pop's system run smoothly. We've played him too many times, and I understand him now. I will never undervalue that guy.
  6. Nay, that would be Jose Calderon (IMO). Most people know how good Wall is.
  7. I might have gone with Mike Conley over Lillard. I think Aldridge is the man that makes the Blazers go, not Damian.
  8. I would take Harden, but I wouldn't like it. His ability to draw fouls on defenders who are actively trying not to foul is downright incredible, and surely helps his team win, but it ruins the beautiful game that is basketball. I would like to see rules changes that make Harden-ball no longer work, but I'm not sure what they would be. Oh hell no.
  9. As a Dubs fan, I am much more scared of Memphis than I am of Portland or even San Antonio. We match up horribly against Memphis (and OKC). We could play Portland, the Clippers and the Spurs toe to toe and have a good chance of winning a series, but Memphis will just overpower us. As good as Love is on the offensive end, I wouldn't make that trade. His defense is no better than Lee's, and Lee already gives us 20 and 10 every night. Well, every night but last night. Losing Klay and Barnes and a pick would be too much. The team would be older, more shallow and worse on defense (because Klay is an excellent defender).
  10. Everyone always thinks the refs are biased against their team. Warriors fans think that they get screwed over all the time too, because we see what we want to see.
  11. Yeah, I saw that one coming all right. Nice win for you guys. If he was on your team, you would call him "scrappy" and "heady" (like we do )
  12. It is fascinating. I assume you read "The Cleanest Race." Goebbels had nothing on the North Koreans.
  13. That is because 1) until the 1970s, the Soviet Union propped up the North Korean economy even more than it did the Cuban economy, 2) from the mid 50s to the early 70s represented the earliest stages of North Korean industrialization, which appears to be the only economically useful period in the evolution of communist states, and 3) in the early 70s, North Korea adopted the "juche" concept, which essentially means "self reliance is more important than trade." Which in the modern world is an absolutely guaranteed recipe for economic failure.
  14. I wouldn't assume that this is correct (or incorrect). There is a segment of South Korean media that makes up a lot of sensationalist stories about North Korea. Why they bother, I don't know - the reality is bad enough. Well, because they have nukes. And a lot of innocent South Koreans right across the border, And no one has a clue what would happen if Kim got killed by an enemy sniper and the remaining fanatics in NK wanted to get revenge.
  15. That was awesome. It's too bad that about 49 percent of America will angrily criticize her for not being "First Lady-like."
  16. Hell of a win for you guys. Young teams like the Wiz can really feed off a signature win like this one.
  17. You take the big man over the smaller man - assuming all things are equal. But they pretty much never are. If you ever think you have the next Lebron in your sights, you take him. But if you aren't sure whether Wiggins is the next Rose (without the knee problems) or Embliid is the next Cousins (without the rotten attitude), it gets a lot harder to choose.
  18. So wrong. Dubs would love to have Miller. He can distribute, and our bench offense is completely stagnant. I just don't think we can get him, because we have nothing to trade. No available draft picks, and a weak bottom of the bench. Jack was the guy who took all of the hard isolation shots when the offense broke down and the shot clock was winding down. Hitting 45 percent of them was actually really good. But you don't want him as a primary scorer. So true. Honestly, if he came out here the Dubs would be kind of terrifying. Statistically they have the most effective starting lineup in the NBA, and the least effective bench. Lack of bench production directly has cost the Warriors at least half of its losses this year. Plus I kind of love his old man slow motion moves that people still can't stop. He's like that 50 year old guy who goes down to the playground and puts in a bunch of Bob Pettit hooks and bank shots and people don't know what to do.
  19. They couldn't afford him under the salary cap after signing Igoudala and resigning Bogut. They had to do massive cap contortions to get Igoudal in. The Warriors liked Jack and would have kept him at a low price, but Cleveland gave him 5 mil a year, which is more than he is worth or they could pay. So we got Toney Douglas for 1.6 mil instead - but he sucks. Depends on how many teams are in the buying. I have heard that Sacramento wants to overpay for him. The Dubs don't have much to trade right now, unless you want Kent Bazemore
  20. I still don't think the Nets are any good. The Dubs just looked tired. In the first quarter they were running the Nets off the court, and had something like a 16 point lead. Then they hit the wall and spent the rest of the game walking in molasses. Another back to back at the end of a 7 game cross country road trip was just too much to overcome. Nice win for the Wiz last night.
  21. Yep. Any rebuilding team should want to be the one who gets the benefit of firing him.
  22. Warriors need a back up point guard who can distribute the ball. Curry is playing too much and is getting exhausted, and when he goes out, the second team is turribl, just turribl. If they could pry Andre Miller from the Nugs, it might be the last piece to make the Dubs a real championship threat. ps- John Wall is really, really good.
