They do. Here in the U.S., it is required. All networks had to upgrade to a digital signal.

Trust me, I remember the "rabbit ear" days. I'm old enough to remember when you had to go behind the TV and mess with the horizontal button to stop the picture from jumping. It's amazing how far TV technology has come since I was a kid.
